I got a better plan. How about we offer a file that can be used by anyone. Like perhaps a file with the input presses only that could possibly be played by a program such as an emulator.

Doh. Those steps didn't work for me. I still have a movies directory. What paths did you set? Maybe it has something to do with that.

It doesn't use the registry. It simply uses the "last folder used" information from your windows, when there is no directory override.

I did open FCEUX. Load a game... Ah damn, forgot to configure the ROMs path. So I did it. Manually wrote ".\roms". because I intend to put it on a USB key, so the path might be different if a letter like "X:" or anything else is used on some other computer. Then I did press the "OK" button. Loaded the game. Damn, while thinking of that, better to configure the movies path. So did the same thing, except that I put ".\movies". Then press "ok" button. And then it said "Error: Directory .\roms does not exist. Create this directory?" WTH, that directory does exist and I did just configure the path for it 10 seconds before without any problems. o_0. Curious of where that directory would be created, I did press "Yes"button. Then same thing happen for movies dir and that directory was there before too. Press Yes again. Then I did notice those new directories were being created in the ".\roms" directory. My guess was that because I didn't configure the "Base directory". So by loading the rom, FCEUX uses the last directory something was loaded which in this case is the ROMs directory. But no. Even if it's configured, it does the same thing when doing the same steps. So I did try doing the same steps again but this time, using the full path. It works but that's not the way I want due to reasons I did mention above. Also, FCEUX refuses to use the correct movies directory. It always try to open a movie the movies directory inside the roms directory. And no matter what is "Base directory" path, which is ironical because a software should always try to use what is in its own "root" directory and not anything else, unless something like a "Base directory" is configured (Not true if it's a dll or EXE files but that's not the case here). But in both way, it failed. Also some other bugs related to uses of ".\" Like by closing and reopening FCEUX 2-3 times, the configured roms path was erased.
Thank you for the detailed bug report. There are actually a few issues here (mostly known but I havent' been able to find a consistent way to recreate them). One is that the directory overrides does not like relative paths. Two, your directory overrides will randomly disappear regardless if you use relative paths. Two is VERY annoying and I have spent many hours trying to figure it out and fix it but I have failed. What I need is steps to recreate it EVERY time the steps are done. No one has been able to come up with those.

Submission file replacements are for small changes typically at the end of a movie. This trick warrants a new submission imo.

The behavior toward ivmaddnessvi in this thread pisses me off. We have a new potential TASer, and you just want to run him off?

Since too many of our viewers are unable to watch viddler videos we created a Dailymotion account. This will be an official TASVideos.org account and we have been working to upload our movies there. We aren't going to close the viddler account. For one thing, we still don't know if we will qualifiy for a daily motion "Motion maker" account (which allows us to go over the 20 minute limit). If that fails, we will use viddler for longer movies. Once we have all our movies uploaded to dailymotion, we may upload them to Viddler too. There is no reason not to have them in multiple places and create more exposure for the site!

I'm thinking of the fact that it would need to be on a page. What page? Creating 600 new wiki's is more load. Marginal in the grand scheme of things, but it is non-zero.

I watched the viddler movies again today. Much better fps for me (was like 20, now 30 I think). Everyone complaining that they are unbearable. Please watch again and tell me the results.

Huh? You mean FCEUX doesn't support soft resets? Why is that a good thing?
It doesn't support STARTING from soft-reset.

fceu.unpause() added: http://fceux.com/zip Also, all documentation in in the fceux.chm that comes with a fceux release. It will be more up to date than qfox's site.

Let's stop this debate right now. Imbedding all our publications on to pages on this site isn't going to happen. Don't know if you have noticed but our server can't handle the load we currently have. We need ways to shift the load elsewhere, not increase it here.

For videos under 20 minutes, An admin can easily submit anyone's work. If the video is over 20 minutes, then the creator of the movie can register themselves as a motion maker and upload their own videos to a TASVideos group with no time restriction. The only problem here is that it must be the creator of the movie that uploads the file.
If the video is over 20 minutes, we could just split it in 2 no? 2 or even 3 part videos aren't cumbersome to do. And that would cover about 90% of the videos on this site. I still prefer viddler. I wish it wasn't a hog for everyone :( Also, viddler has been giving me and flygon problems with uploading. That is a bit of a con as well.

I found the first 6 minutes very boring to watch. The remaining was a dull meh. So overall, I have to vote no.

so you want a FCEUX.pause() and an FCEUX.unpause() function? I have a hard time believing that isn't already in there. But if it isn't, I could make those in 5 minutes.

Sounds like Zurreco maybe right based on what I am hearing. I'm hearing that viddler movies get at least decent framerates (20-25 or more) and only our (new) movies get the unbearable 5 fps. This can be as zurreco suggested. Or it could be something about how we encode our movies. Or it could be a combo of both. I will investigate this. Also, andymac left out a key feature that is needed (and a big one for my decision to use viddler): Ability to have a group or a channel that allows sub-users. I need a way to manage the channel that doesn't require me being the sole uploader or giving the same level of access I have to someone else (a security risk).

If there is anything I have learned from Viddler, it is that fresh files seem to play at a lower quality than others. If the problem persists/fleets, though, it's probably the source rather than the service.
Has anyone with the 5fps problem actually tried some non TAS videos on their site? Are those 5fps too?

I've set up a TASVideos group on Viddler. My intent is to provide easy point and click for all TASVideos publications (in addition to high quality avi's via bittorrent). I had originally intended to use a TASVideos channel on youtube. However viddler offers many advantages compared to youtube such as no 11 minute length restriction. The only restriction is a 500mb limit on filesize which nearly all publications fall under. I've added a few videos and added the links to the movie pages, such as: http://tasvideos.org/903M.html I will be asking all publishers to get an account on viddler and join the TASVideos group. I hope to also recruit some additional help getting our massive list of existing publications moved onto Viddler. This is still in the experimental stages. So far I have only uploaded AVI files. I have yet to try to upload a new MKV that takes advantage of brframes & deldup (this causes youtube to freak out).

Ok, I can't figure how to work this thing. First of all, what does toggle mean? Here is how I am trying to use it: I'll make a savestate at the beginning of a level. I'll record player 1 by setting player 1 input to "You". Then I will record a small segment. However, it often doesn't accept my input. I will press right and it will be on for 1 frame, then stay off. Loading my savestate has weird effects too. Then I tried to turn player 1 to script and then I set player 2 to "You" but I get the same input problem (where it only accepts 1 frame).

Holy crap, you are awesome. I'll go check this out. I've been contemplating doing Nightmare on Elm Street 4 player. And was going to try to write a 4 player multi-tracker. Looks like this might be a great start. EDIT: Once it is cleaned up, some bugs weeded out, and 4 player support, I would love to add a script like this to the FCEUX release package.

Use input.get() and route it to a keyboard key instead of a gamepad key. (This requires FCUEX)
