Nice to see this movie improved :) And this is an end of an era was the last non-obsoleted morimoto movie. This problem is that I get a desync using FCEU .16 (though you said you used that one). It happens around 44360. You try to jump over that pit and fail. Your character dies and then it plays around on the title screen for the rest of the movie. The rom checksum matches up as well.

Wow. The current published run is one of my favorite on the site and this movie cuts it in half Oo. It also retains all the elements that made it my favorite: fast movements, unexpected glitches, insane amounts of critical hits on bosses. So I give this a huge yes vote. Good job longstreamofrandomlowercaseconsonants for improving SHORTSTREAMOFRANDOMCAPITALCONSONANTS's movie.

1) I have no idea about the input thing, it has no bearing on the game at least. 2) Yes, the difficulty only affects boss health. 3) I will use death as a shortcut if it is faster. The scenario you mention in lv3 wouldn't make anything faster. 4) I have no desire to do 100% kills. It would likely add a lot of lag in addition to have to stop or turn around to kill things. I think it may be less entertaining overall.

I've been working on TAS for this game. Here is a WIP of the first 2 levels. This WIP is 765 frames faster than Shakespeare's submitted movie. I think this game is a very publishable game. It is very similar to Contra (no suprise that I am working on it ;P). Any comments are welcome.

The only ones I am familiar with are SNES1.43 movies might have less lag than they should. What movies do you speak of FODA?

I remember voting no for both Guybrush and Scubed's submissions for poor game choice/poor goals. So I expected to vote no for this as well. I was pleasantly suprised though. I was entertained enough to watch the whole movie. The death shortcuts were especially nice and both saved a lot of time and avoided a lot of repetitive backtracking. The rooms look more optimized than Scubed's as well and I was suprised by some of your solutions in the bonus levels. I give this a solid yes vote. Though I still think it barely meets site standards in terms of game choice. I worry that the lack of popularity of the game will be a problem though. Also, I am not sure the differences between the J & U versions. If someone submitted a faster version using the U rom, would that stir up controversy?

This was a pleasure to watch. I had never seen this game before and was pleasantly suprised. The game itself is awesome. The character has a detachable head, nuff said. It is entertaining to watch for someone who has never played it, which is good because it seems that many haven't. The run is very nice. You clearly did your homework with testing/optimizing. Excellent work. I also was a fan of what you did during wait times, like after boss fights :) Easy yes vote.

I voted meh. JXQ said about everything I have to say. I wasn't bored nor was I particularly entertained. The music annoyed me though.

Pros: * Good technical quality. Nothing stuck out as improvable with this movie. It certainly meets site standards. Though, since I am not familiar with the game, I have no way of knowing if the route is optimal or not. * Uses programming errors/unexpected play. It does show a superplay of this game; showing something unexpected (the ladder glitch). Cons: It is just not an interesting game. The first time you did the ladder glitch I was thinking "hmm, I'm not sure that was intended by the game or not" so I read the submission text. Other than that moment, nothing peaked my interest. I will vote meh with a leaning towards no. If this were a published movie were published I would rate it with a 4,7 or 4,8.

I would be interested in seeing an improvement of this game. The current run needs updating badly. I think it should be 2-player. That would make it more interesting and save a lot of time. Plus the 2 players can hurt each other, which might make for some creative time-savers. And if not, they could at least beat the crap out of each other during wait times :)

The point is that the game must be unaltered. Who would for example enjoy a TAS of SMB3 if there was an emulator glitch that allowed the player to run just run through any wall? It wouldn't be the same game anymore.
Exactly. Also, if such things were allowsed to be published, why not patch emulators to perform other emulation bugs? Perhaps even ones that would be entertaining to watch? It sucks that vaulable work will be made invalid due to such a bug, but this can't be published. Kudos to dwedit for figuring this out. Sorry to FODA & team for having their time wasted :(

I would be interested in seeing a full version. Estimate it to be around 20-30 minutes.

It could at least be done on the pacifist movie perhaps? Well, duh, you have to kill an enemy to do it :S Maybe a 1 player (non-pacifist) movie that uses this bug would be more appropriate than a pacifist run as the complimentary run on the site.

Nice movie, I vote yes (though a rather late yes vote :P) One possible optimization though: It seems you can summon player 2 at anytime and there is a lot of lag in the first stage. Perhaps you should wait until the boss fight to bring player 2 in. I didn't notice anywhere that player 2 was saving time until then, and it would reduce much of that lag.

Very cool game :) It is like NES Pinballquest ony better. I was very entertained by this movie, especially after you got the yoshi...balls? It also seems well optimized. Easy yes vote. Also, I will be accepting for publication and begin encoding.

Looked good to me... perhaps you can go around the tank instead of crashing into it, and keep the jeep longer?
Actually, it isn't possible without waiting a long time for the tank to move out of the way, and even then it is impossible on the next one. So regardless, it is much slower to keep it.

I just wasted the merc in order to not have a merc bonus. 1) the boss isn't damaged until the red health blocks appear 2) Mercs only do 3 damage every 2 frames on this boss (on the first boss it was possible to do 20 initial damage + 3 every two frames). 3) The upgraded regular weapon does 4 damage so it was faster than using mercs.

I have decided to make an improved version of this game. here is a wip of the 1st 2 levels. It is 341 frames ahead of gathers published movie. It plays arcarde mode on hardest difficulty with faster smarter enemies just like the published movie. I am using GENS9z for the recording. Any feedback would be much appreciated :)

Obvious yes vote. This run was magnificently done. And I understand how near impossible it is to manipulate luck as much as you guys did. That is incredible. Congratulations.
