I voted meh. I saw nothing noteworthy about this run.

vba games seems to desync for you a lot bisqwit. Anyway, I used vba 1.7.2 re-recording v17.1 and it synced fine.

I did something like this for Sonic 2. I would have a hard time doing a 2-player run without it, now, because it makes it so much easier to be able to record the players individually without affecting the input data later in the movie of one or both players. It's simple for the emulator: there's a toggle for each player that, when on, causes the input data for that player to come from the active movie instead of from the buttons being pressed, even while recording.
Any chance you could make a feature like this for FCEU? (pretty please?) Of course there are prblematic elements to it but it would greatly ease the frustrations and keyboard limitations and making two player runs (double dragon 2 for istance).

My two biggest needs: 1) I want a multi-track recorder where I can record a set of button presses and then record over with another set without destroying the first. This could be used to luck manipulation and would greatly ease the making of 2-player movies. You could record player 1 for a short segment, switch to track 2, and record player 1's movements. 2) A button press macro-editor, which is already in the works for FCEU. This allows the programming of various button combinations and assigning them to a single function. There is random key option for any frame. Ideally, it would have both two player support and compatible with the multi-tracking feature. Also, it would be cool to be able to import a macro from a movie file, by specifying the range of frames to import. This would turn it into a kind of mini-hex-editor As for your ideas, the TAStudio Pro sounds awsome :) Something many windows pull down menu and lots of bells & whistles. And Savestate moving is a must.

Bart's movements look so much better this time. Lv 4 is still frustrating to watch, and Lv 5 is tedious. The first three levels are really nice though. I'll vote yes.

Oh crap, now this sounds like my DW4 run. Good luck with that. After a few hundred, you will want to beat your head repeatedly on a concrete block.

I guess the frequent speed changes make this movie look choppy and take away from the entertainment value, as close to optimal as they may have been.
This is the problem I had with the movie. Before watching it, I was hoping you had found some way to manipulate the game so that you could run most of the time. Had this been possible, it would get an easy yet vote from me. Instead it is a jerky motion from fast to slowly that interrupts the flow of the game and makes it LOOK unoptimized (whether it really is or not). I voted meh.

Impressive work! The two gemini stages were by far the best part. All those refills, wow (and no bisqbot ;p) and the zipping glitches looked far better. I watched each of these stages 3 times :) Wily 2 looked really nice and creative, and the boss fight was entertaining :) The refights were top quality too. You guys blew through them so fast. The route & weapon choice you took for those was really impressive (it may have been the same route as the previous, its been awhile).

yeah, that is awsome. Even worse for the boss was that the timing of his running and my pogoing were in line so that holding down+b caused me to always hit him on the earliest possible frame. Which certainly made it one of the easiest boss fights I've ever done :)

Hey, I'm from Norway. Let me show you this shortcut I found in Duck Tales on the moon: Download NTSC version Download PAL version I skip both the UFO key and the remote control. The remote control is actually quite useless as the rope will appear but you can't climb down. So I had to find another way down. Hehe.
How dude, nice find. It just so happens that I was improving this game. I incorporated your trick and saved mega-time. Excellent. For future reference, you should post something like this in the Ducktales thread.

Yes vote. The constant flickering of the game turned it from a strong yes to a weak one though.

Voting No. Bisqwit said pretty much everything I have to say about it. The biggest disappointment about the GAME is that the items are not random. If they were you could have shown incredible luck manipulation to move them to the closest possible rooms. Which would also have shrunk the length of this movie dramatically. I am amused by the cpu character walking into his own traps but if you have played this game for any length of time, you will see that it is not uncommon for him to do so.

Shinyruu had a wip of this that you might want to look at. Last I heard he was ahead by several thousand frames.

about 10,000 re-records getting one critical in in Dragon Warrior 4 (1/256 chance). And that is for about a 20 frame segment I guess.

That poor pilot must be dizzy.
I'd like that to be in the movie description. Thanks for all the feedback guys. To answer some questions: My goals: 1) To max out speed as soon as possible 2) is to make a playaround (as Morimoto did) taking advantage of the ship's ridiculous speed 3) Make it as fast as possible while doing this. I shouldn't have to make any sacrifices for speed except for the first boss. Ironically, being superfast without weapon upgrades costs about 20 frames due to the fact the moving at 8 pixels per frames give me poor accuracy. By the 2nd boss, I will be maxed out and be able to destroy them optimally. 4) I will not aim for %100 kills but as Boco said, kill only enenies needed for powerups. Often I need to destroy certain enemies in order for power-up carrying enemies to appear. The first level is basically a tease. I don't want to abuse all the possibilities just yet. From your comments I realize I need to be maximizing the amount of screen I am using when moving patterns around. My usuage of circles, L's, and X's is to take away the element of the ship itself. A ship is not moving in circles. Rather a circular object is moving around the screen dodging enemies. Of course I need to keep pushing this to the extreme and play with death even more. In the first two levels I have to deviate from this a lot in order to power up, I actually have to stop and play gradius periodically. After powering up, my goal is to take these mini-patterns (L's X's, circles, etc) and move them about in larger scale pre-planned patterns. I will make "visual art" all while never running into an enemy. The macro function allows me to plans these pattern far in advance and find the right frame/position to begin them in order to squeeze my way through all the enemies/bullets.

This topic misses the point of the site. The site isn't about being a record keeper of all games. Rather it picks out the best of the best and displays them. Perhaps another site could be created to keep track of all tas records and host these more "boring" movies, but that has never been the aim here.
