well you ARE the expert on that kind of thing ;)
I voted meh:
at first the game entertained me and I was thinking easy yes vote. Only after about 10min I started to get really bored. By 13 min I had to shut it off. I don't think I should vote yes to a run a can't watch all the way through.
The the part of the run I saw looks very good though. I didn't see any obvious improvements. Just that the game is a little too long.

I could agree with your point if this game had a bunch of japanese text and you couldn't tell what is going on. In this case there is nothing that makes this hard for a US/european to follow. In fact it has better graphics and less black screen waiting time. It is better in every aspect without taking anything away.
This certainly wouldn't obsolete gensito's but rather the pacifist run (hopefully).

watched, it looks good. Improvement over the current run so yes vote.
Though I don't know exactly what you did to gain the 13 seconds, could you explain?

What about rockman 3? It was picked over mm3 just because of the faster intro screen. What it wrong with that?
[/quote]
huh?
you would vote yes If bisqwit would accept another category? Isn't that why this is being submitted? Are you voting no because you think it it trying to obsolete genisto's? this makes no sense
I will watch this, and probably vote yes:
1) a 2-player will probably not be faster than 1-player run. This run comes awfully close; much more than I would expect possible.
2) this really should obsolete the pacifict run as it is become increasingly unecessary. If not though, a 2-player run should still be published (resulting in 3 runs for this game).
*goes to find the (J) rom of this game...
EDIT:
watched, easy yes vote! The (J) choice is much better as it adds better graphics. The less waiting between the levels is a big plus too.
In addition this 2-player run blows away previous attempts
Things I especially like:
1) subtle differences of path of the 2 players. There is one spot where they are unvoidable "stuck together" but you had one go under a platform and another go above. Both are equally fast but separating the two helps show off the 2-player aspect just a little more. Someone not thinking probably would have ahd them both do the same thing.
2) insisting on not using the spread gun. Some have complained about it but I love it. Spread gun is too obvious, messy, and less creative.
3) level 1, getting both players on the exploding bridges = :O

usually the higher difficulty is not chosen when it only affects enemy HP. If it changes the number of enemies or something that would change the gameplay then I could see the rational for the higher difficulty.
As far as PAL vs NTSC:
when competing with the precedent run, it will be judged by number of frames, so don't make NTSC just for that reason. On the other hand, NTSC is typically used unless there is a good reason to use PAL (like a glitch that can only be exploited in the PAL version). In this case it doesn't seem be a difference. Therefore I would reccomend difficulty 2, NTSC.

Well, I have teamed up with Guybrush once again and we have been working on an improved version of this game. For the most part I am doing the bosses and he is doing the levels, though it hasn't been quite that organized.
Here is our WIP of the first 3 levels:
http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/974/TheFlintstonesboss3done18505.fcm
As of right now we are 222 frames ahead of the current published run. Some of the new savings has come from new tricks, others from more effecient boss fights By debugging the game I have found the boss HP and am able to use that to maximize the damage dealt and reduce the number of hits required.

well, I certainly didn't know about that trick. The aeolus shield is very far out of the way though, plus you need to unluck 4 doors to get to it. I am not sure it would be faster or not. If it is faster it is certainly not by much.

I like tool's suggestion. But the headache is that some games were boring and played badly. or worse yet, played badly but unsure if the game is a publishable game. Categorizing them will be very difficult.

no you don't have to go in at night for the meteorite armband, and it is closer than the wziards ring. also the rock puzzle thing is for the vase of drought
Axe you have a point, the ring gives you 3 options for avoiding fights and with the unforgiving rng, the key will be to have as many options as possible

haven't forgot about the wizards ring, I just don't think it will be worth it:
1) it is way out of the way, not just because you have to make it up to the queen's bedroom, but you also have to do it at night (which may mean walking around aimlessly and manipulating to avoid encounters)
2) the wizards ring as a certain % chance of breaking everytime you use it. Not only would you have to hope it changes the random encounters positively, you also have to make sure it doesn't break. This makes it more unlikely that it will be helpful.

I was thinking to today about where the earliest place to find metal babbles is. Finding them as earliest as possible is critical here. If there is a place near greenlad then that means we could level up as soon as we get the ship. Hell that is really close to portoga where we will be anyway.
Also, Im pretty sure you can get the magic key in only one encounter (use wings of wryvern as soon as you get it). The 2nd dungeon might be problematic though. You can level on metals long before the pyramid though. Remember that east of kanave there is a small section of squares that you can encounter avengers & grizzlies & metal slimes.
So I propose:
get/regiester party, make sure to register a merchant for later
get to romaly without leveling
go to kanave & noniels (go to noniels for using the return spell later since it is the closest town to the shrine you delivier the orbs)
go east of kanave fight a few slimes, level up
got to isis get meterite armband
go to the pyramid, get magic key
get golden claw
return to isis & sell claw & euip weaponry
get to dhama (portoga etc)
level more if necessary
defeat kandar II
get ship
that should cover "phase 1" of the game - gettig the ship
next will come a LOT of planning on how to get the 6 orbs as fast as possible

couple of comments:
1) your encounter rate goes way up just by having the golden claw whether you equip it or not. Therefore having a fighter will give you an added advantage
2) you don't need to avoid all encounters, just ones that you can run from on the first try. that will save you mp and perhaps you don't need to level all the way to 3. It would be best to save the leveling for the slimes fight.
3) since class changes will be too slow, there is no reason to go to the tower. Therefore you are going way out of the way to get there (not to mention mp by trying to avoid encoutners along the way
4) lone slimes do appear around dhama, just not terribly often
It is probably best to get into a lone slime fight around dhama, which should level you enough to take on an enemy+slime combo for the remaining level ups
5) good work ledauphinbenoit! the next step is to figure out what kind of levels your party will need to be at (& equpment) in order to defeat kandar II. BTW, are you planning to make the TAS of this game?

good job man! This is a difficult game and I personally think it would be a nightmare to TAS. I respect you just for even attempting it let along beating the current movie by over 1 minute.
easy yes vote :)

Game:
short, interesting, enough variation, bugs, route planning possibilities, variety of bosses, possibilities to increase forward momentum, all the stuff needed to make a good TAS
definate yes vote for the GAME
this submission:
I liked:
dying to save time
finding ways to increase foward momentum using the whip
bosses killed quickly and effortlessly
Things I didn't like:
-there is a lot of lag. I trust you did your best to minimize it but it bugged me nonetheless
-I felt you might be able to keep you speed higher more often, though I don't know the game well enough to confirm this.
-stopping to kill some enemies (I'm sure you tried to avoid it though)
so this submission entertained me some and I can't confirm that it is improvable so I will vote YES
