well I will vote yes because this is a good run and there is no warps version nor one being worked on. (why I am voting for a run that I don't think should be published, I don't know, maybe because it is so late) IF this runs is published though, I would hope that a warp run REPLACES this one. Things I like: good optimization of the dinosuars you noodles around differently in each egg room (little details like that make me happy) good minimizing of your health bar Things I don't like: Unlike the smb series, the game is a bit repetitive when all the worlds are played. The extra levels are similar and don't really add much.

Im going to vote "Meh". I didn't really enjoy the movie, but I didn't hate it. It was played well, but a boring game(and silly). Also, I think it was I who framed roger rabbit.
ditto though we can't complain about a game being silly seeing how we have 2 runs of mc kids, the little mermaid, & rockin kats to name a few.

voting no due to breaking a clear & non-subjective rule: Use the right rom. It is a good rule, why should someone have to download a bad dump just watch your movie? It also makes comparing two runs more difficult. The good news is that your movie works up to 6-3 (though I know how difficult the remaining levels are). What I saw looked good, I hope you redo this with the right rom.

neither did I. I literally stumbled on a new technique that I wouldn't normally have thought of.

I go with "shortest input time that does not lengthen the avi time" In the case with monopoly I'd rather see shortest input time, so far it is the only game that I fell that way about.

I like the memory watcher improvements :) haven't tried the new autofire options because I don't use autofire could you elaborate more on what you did for the "use external input" option? (in such a way that a person who doesn't know the C/C++ programming language could understand). From what I read it seems that it is specifically designed for a specific type of bot that was programmed in C. I don't use C. So can this external input thing communicate to non-C programs? What I would like to see it something simpler, where FCEU gives up control to another program, including the hotkeys (or loadstate & savestate at least). And let the external program worry about saving/loading/evaluating.

well, I got right FCEU version and watched it, and WOW! Easy star movie. Since I needed a version of FCEU that doesn't exist yet, I just went to Ebay and bought a slightly used time-machine (got a good deal to :) ). Actually .98.17 was out in this time period, but fortunately it works just fine in that one too. By then every one has FCEU since TASing is the new "Reality TV" and all of us are signed to 7-figure contracts ;)

Going to revive this topic in hope that there is still interest in making a run as this is one of my favorite NES games.
good thing you revived it. It had been sitting unused for like 7hrs ;O As far as running goes, it is like evertying elese in the battles. You can manipulate it by waiting (and I assume different button won't as well)

yeah, it my problem was that I assumed it was saving as a .txt file. Automatically doing that would be nice but the directory issue would be far more important (for me).

I did some debuggin around in this game and found some interesting results: the ram addresses for enemy HP are: 1st enemy: 0500 2nd enemy: 0502 3rd enemy: 0504 4th enemy: 0506 if HP is greater than 255 then the carry over is in the very next address, so a boss hp would be a combo of 0500 and 0501 (reverse the two to get the right value) It seems that HP regeneration is random in this game just like DW4. Also boss HP is also random. This should mean that if you can get a low HP that the boss might be beatable at lower levels Kandar I has no hp regeneration Kandar II has much less than 400 hp, all my tries revolved around 350 +-20 hp is regeneration was around 45 (I never got igher than 47 or lower than 43) I will look at orochi, boss troll, and baramos when I get a chance.

luke, the memory watcher's save profiles is a bit problematic a) it doesn't display the .txt files in the current folder selected when loading or saving b) it would be nice to be able to set a default directory under the config where all the profiles can be stored

Could you have a box that lets you type in what frame to pause on, and the last frame would be in as the default?
that would be pretty easy too, but what advantage would that have?

Next, I'm going to try and make FCEU able to accept input from outside programs. This would make it possible to author bots. I also am hoping to put some simple bots in the program itself, although this might be a while.
YES please do. I have the means to program some luckbot type programs with nice intuitive user-interfaces, but I do not know the C programming language and have been stuck. An easy way to communicate with FCEU would allow me get started! I have messed around with your memory watcher, and it works great! I've been inputting all the known ram addresses for the games I'm working on just for quick easy access to them. Also you might want to note that it converts those values to decimal automatically (this confused me at first because I assumed I was watching hex vaules) One more thing FCEU suggestion (and all emulators for that matter): How about a feature that pauses a run on the last frame, instead of stopping it? This way I could watch my work, and load a savestate without having to open the file again. Obviously this would need to be toggled, so that an .avi can be recorded. This should be an easy feature to make and would save a lot of time. thanks

ditto It seems that the first-generations TAS are few and quickly fading away. 2nd generation is the most common, and now we are slowly seeing the 3rd generation increase in number. This is a TOOL-ASSISTED site. It only makes sense that we develop better tools in addition to run-making skills. I think this run embodies this site because of all the TOOLS used in order to create it. (basically Nach's earlier point that nobody seems to be picking up on)

Ah, this is sounding more and more hopeful. But why bother with the golden claw? It's a good weapon but the encounter rate increase would kill that and there are better ways to get gold too if drops can be manipulated.
for money, the 11k will be needed to equip my characters

Oh, and since everyone's gonna take hits, you may want to manipulate some drops here and there.
agreed, there are some premium weapon & armor drops along the way.
Boss Troll -> Thor's Sword (which is WAY better than the Thunder Sword)
I forgot about this one. you only get once chance until the underworld but it certainly very kick ass and worth the effort. Mainly bacause it can be used as firevolt, making the 6th orb journey a piece of cake.
King Merzon -> Magic Bikini (so make sure your other members are females)
+the fact that it changes the sprite to a girl in a bikini. Oh yeah! gotta loves those 8-bit ladies!
Minidemon -> Unlucky Helmet (Best Helmet in the game, if you don't care about the Luck attribute)
the problem with this is 2-fold: 1) I think all curse items keep the afflicted character from doing things like opening doors & casting spells outside of battle ("there body is inflicted with the curse" or something like that) Though I could be wrong and the unlucky helmet could be an exception to this. 2) Luck is actually very needed in this TAS. It is what determines if you will be affected by sleep, surround, chaos, etc. I don't think it is worth the extra defense points.
Another thing to consider would be this: After getting Healall at least, turn your Pilgrim and Wizards into Soldiers. Why? Better HP, better overall power, and better equipment possibilities (including Demon Axes from Mimics, and Dragon Mails, which will protect them from breath attacks). Plus, if one of them has Healall, he'll still be able to greatly damage Zoma (since "Weakened-Zoma" gets damaged by Healall by about the same as Blazemost).
I don't think class changes will be useful because it takes a LOT of time to level the character back up. Also, IF you level up to get healall it will be extremely useful for Zoma (100-110 damage to be exact). But pilgrams don't learn that spell until like level 26, that is an awful lot of leveling, which will make this run very long. (I think level 26 is around 100k experience, that is 10 metal babble fights!)
Also, best way to gain money would be near the end of the game, by hunting Thor Swords. One or two will most likely do the trick, though.
yeah but by the time you get to this point in the game, money shouldn't be needed. but yes you sell them for 48k a piece!
The casino is out of the question, since fight results are just as scripted as pro-wrestling, and low levels = not much profit.
Every once in a while is has a kick-ass 17to1 shot or 20to1 shot that wins. That makes it worth it even at low levels. I was thinking this is how I would equip for the gold-claw trip.
