well, I was feeling bored so I actually bothered to watch this famtasia run. I gotta vote no. uninteresting game, and it looked improvable (i agree with the above mentioned things)

I'm going to have to agree with bisqwit. I thought that since it was so short it wouldn't be that boring , but I was wrong. The problem is that it is just one long repeitive race and then it is over, nothing interesting happened.

I did a quick unoptimized test of level 4 without bombing the orange car and it was a few hundred frames faster (glad I checked!) So it won't save time in this instance, mainly due to the fact that the track is only 2 laps. tracks 8,16 & 24 will certainly benifit greatly from it. In addition I am considering track 7 & 15. If it always required 10 bombs to make the car speed up then this will limit its usefullness on most of the other tracks.

http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/842/RC_ProAm_adelikat_WIP_lv%201-4.fcm level 4, done with the orange car glitch let me know what you guys think about this, if this concept is stupid, let me know now. I still want to do level 4 without it to see how much time it saves

All this talk is doing is making people think twice before being honest in their submissions. 1) Old run is Famtasia 2) This run in an improvement of 3:26, which is an extremely significant improvement If we waited for absolute perfection at all times, nothing would get published. I'm personally surprised at Adelikat's opinion, as he is fronting the Famtasia improvement, and this is exactly the type of run that is fit for it. For me this is a no-brainer publish ASAP.
I voted "yes" for it to be published. And the fact that it could be improved is probably not affecting the publication of this movie. There are a lot of submissions in que. As far as improvements go, keeping them to yourself isn't the best Idea, but perhaps it is more important to post those on the forums.

I'm sure it's a nice movie, and without question better than the existing one, but I don't know... 10-30 seconds is quite significant. If I were the author, I would want to improve this before someone else does.
ditto In fact I have been in the same situation. I made a big improvement in cobra triange. after submitting I found a way to improve it another 10 seconds so I canceled the first one and began the improved one.

One of the few genesis games that I actually completed. This run was an easy yes vote for me, very entertaining Glad there was a use for beast, so that the entire game isn't monopolized by the two uber-characters :)

I found this run entertaining, and this is a cool game! I voted yes (though I would have no idea if this run is improvable or not)

I hope this isn't discouraging, but I think this would get very old, very fast. However, many others seem to think this would be a great game to TAS, so perhaps I should be ignored. On the plus side, you did optimize the races well, but I personally would enjoy this game more as a playaround, shooting the computer opponents and such instead of just demolishing them every race.
seriously, read my above post. By using the orange car glitch, I effectively turn 50% of this run into a playaround.

http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/832/RC_ProAm_adelikat_WIP_lv%201-3.fcm Here is a WIP of the first 3 levels, with these the orange car glitch isn't useful. But it will in lv 4 so I need to figure out some stuff about it. Let me know what you guys think :)

Not really sure, I would start by taking all the in between scenes out (and the jogging routines) and see how much more is left. The song itself is only about 4 min, maybe just include like the last 3-4 boxers, with all the in between stuff cut?

If its improvable then do so! :) I will vote YES on the game. It is fast paced and doesn't get boring (though I don't really know whats going on) I will vote meh, since this is a good run but improvable. I would certainly vote yes on an improved version.

voting a BIG NO on this GAME. I agree completely with truncated, run, attack, repeat. WAY to repetitive. Also does anyone see that this is a lame rip off of golden axe. And at least golden axe is shorter. It seems to end before it gets too boring. The play was good but with only 1372 re-records on a 19min movie, I have a hard time believing it is perfect. But I would vote no on any improved run as well unless somehow 10min was shaved off of it. I might agree with Phil. Possibly a 2p run, while slower, would be more interesting.

The game was kinda funny to make just because it's that of a boring nature and the collision check is horrid. :)
The collision check is very frustrating to watch and is the primary reason I will be voting no. It seems everytime you get near the enemy, it is faster to stop and kill him or take damage. I would enjoy this game a lot more if it were possible to do more running and less bumping into enemies. By the last level I was getting very annoyed. In addition, the boss fights are very frustrating to watch (and seem very frustrating to play :O). This guy is SUPERMAN yet has to SLOWLY hit the bosses many many times for VERY LITTLE damage. The run itself also seems improvable, with creativety at least

Creativity in general would have made a difference, since this game isn't very entertaining on it's own, as others have noted. Pacifist style autoscroll (the astaroid area?) areas, shooting the jetpack guy only in the crotch, and shooting in time to the music, just to give you an idea of what I mean by creativity.
A strongly agree with all of these Ideas :) In summary I vote: "No" on the game "Meh" on the run

I think this run should get Mega Man 1's star, although I'm probably in the minority thinking that, simply because this run is much more suited for a beginner to watch than MM1 is.
I %51 agree with this. If I now HAD to rank the top mm runs it would be mm5, rm2, rm1. And this one is certainly more accessible to a newcomer (1 & 2 I think are a bit TOO glitch-fest for a beginner)

It works really well with the Street Fighter movies. Bubble Bobble could be cut down to ten minutes just by cutting out the waits. Final Fantasy could be *really* short by playing just the battles. Punch-Out (both of them). Earthworm Jim (without the Andy Asteroids levels). Those are the ones that would really benefit just by cutting out the waits, anyway.
I've already made the song for punchout: http://www.adelikat.com/Miscellaneous.html If someone would "cut" my mtpo run and fit it to this, They would have my deepest admiration.

It DID say 1023 before I brought it to their attention, its now updated. While I am at Gigademon, it is only the 2nd guardian fight. That means 3 guardian fight and then the long tedious fight with necrosario. So while I am so close, It will take a while to complete, manipulating critical hits takes far more time (real time) than anything else, and I got A LOT of critical to get in these battles. In addition, my schedule has gotten suprisingly busy so I would be able to work on it occasionaly. As far as how much time I've saved, I want to keep that a suprise (which also means no WIP until it is done). All I will say is that is won't be sub2hr (I made that overzealous prediction before I started the new run) but it will be a significant improvement ;)

I messed with it some myself and couldn't get up there, but I am about 90% sure I've done it before (though very rarely). Perhaps getting hit at the peak of the jump, or maybe swinging your weapon at the same time?

have you watched the both current run and the .fmv before you decided that this is the boring one?

To complicate matters, I recently found a trick that would allow me to improve this run (by several seconds). But if this run won't be published then why should I? The full 38min run is also improvable but I don't want to work on that unless this gets rejected. So either way, I have an improved version on the way. I just need a decision to be made as to which one. If somone rejects this run, I will work a new version of the 38min run. If this gets accepted or at least confirmation that it COULD get accepted, I will immediately work on an improved version of this run.

I've definately made that jump on the actual console, and I too thought it was done in the TAS =\ Maybe it wasn't I just never noticed. If I had noticed, I would have said something long ago...

Are you going to remove entries from the list after they are published? That way we could visually work toward a smaller list, yay for motivation :) Bucky O’Hare & Hudson's Adventure Island 3 are both published as of this post.
yes I plan on removing them when they are published, I guess I missed those being published, updating... [Edit: Getting smaller already, 3 down, 57 to go....] [Edit2: 1 more down, busy day for publishing]
