The location of the holes are completely random. You want to manipulate it so that they are at least on the same side, and you want the top hole to be at least below the square below the barrier.

event.oninputpoll might be useful for you. Just note that the game may not care that you are pushing buttons more than once per frame. Also note, that you won't be able to record your results into a .bk2 file this way.

But you can't nominate your own TAS! Neither can I. Neither can anyone on the site. On noes, this one has no chance.

Wouldn’t it save like 1 frame if you aligned to hit 2 of the center white things at the start of the level? Move a bit to the left, then go up and shoot 2 instead of just the center one.
This didn't work because of the tank behavior. However, I decided to double check that since I wasn't certain. In the process, I found there is a frame I can turn left and shoot the left tank, but the right tank delays its shot. That delay is just enough to go left, shoot the leftmost white things, turn around and shoot the tank bullet before it hits me. This saved 9 frames, minus 4 frames for luck manipulation in the next level. However, I got better luck at the end of level 3 (when does that ever happen, amirite!), and I ended up saving 28 frames over all. I replaced the movie file. Thanks :)
Edit: You also seem to move up unnecesarily after you’ve cleared the green stuff, wouldn’t it be faster to just turn and shoot for 1 frame then continue in a horizontal line rather than moving that much vertically?
You can't turn and shoot without going at least half a square in that direction (unless something obstructs your path). So I have to end up going all the way up at some point. It makes no difference in terms of time when I do this. So I go all the way up to deal with the tanks.
Edit2: In the third level, to destroy the 3 middle ones, you use 2 turns instead of a single turn aligned to destroy 2 at once. Does that not lose time? Also, your ending to level 3 is different compared to your level 2’s, but they’re the same thing, so are both strategies tied in speed?
Both strategies are the same number of frames

Right. I saw you couldn't shoot through the green layer. It looked as though you only went through one layer of green before you turned left and then went up through the second layer. Why not drive up through both layers right away?
Are we still talking about level 2? I drive straight though both layers before I turn left.

Well said. The number of unobsoleted publications as quadrupled since the vault was introduced. The goal was to have the site changed to a game based system by now, the starting point of which, Zeupar linked. This was my plan years ago, and some good work was done on the site code with this goal in mind. It seems weird for people to keep suggesting they are in favor of this system. It isn't a question of support, it is technical reasons as to why we are stuck in the system we have. Urls like what Zeupar linked are already in the site code, but they aren't done. If someone wants to be innovative and tinker around with what we have, talk to me on IRC. I don't have the time for the tinkering, but I can give you some direction as to what the site is capable of. arkiandruski perhaps? You seem motivated.

Strategy question: in Level 2, can you save any time by shooting up at some of the white targets before heading left? It seems like you waste a little bit of time to face upwards to fire at them in your current route. At the start of the route, however, you're already facing upwards, so you wouldn't waste any frames to turn and shoot them.
You can't shoot through the...green stuff. If you notice I do ...dig? though it and shoot the center white...thingie. IF it weren't for that stuff, yeah, I could go up, shoot, go left, go up, shoot, etc.

I'll nominate [2977] NES Super Mario Bros. "maximum coins" by TEHH_083, HappyLee & CuteQt in 26:10.25 since I enjoyed watching this TAS more than any other NES TAS this year :)

I don't want to get into most of the points here, but I guess at least have to respond to a few things 1) I did not forward a private message, but I did reveal some details to feos. Warp was contacting me via PM at the same time as feos was talking to me about warp on IRC. I had no desire to get in the middle of that, but I did reveal some information. I should have not have done this. And I apologize 2) Warp, I didn't ignore you. I responded, in a reasonably timely manner. Not as reasonable as you wanted but I was at work, doing non-work things, that I shouldn't have been doing anyway. You saw that I read your post and felt ignored. But I do skim forum PMs that come my way to make sure the world isn't on fire. If it isn't an emergency (this was not), I'll get to it when I can. How many forum PMs did I get within the course of a workshift about how I was ignoring you? I responded to you, and you didn't like what I said and proceeded to argue. I owe you a response, but I don't feel like I owe you a debate. What I said initially was sufficient. To characterize all of this as ignoring you, is unfair, in my opinion.

What is the maximum useful value that x and y would contain? Perhaps the byte is being used for more than 1 thing. For instance, maybe the first 7 bits are the x value, and the 8th is being used for some flag.

For TAStudio GBA core, is there any way to 1. Hide columns, especially Tilt X/Y and Light Sensor?
Yes, in the columns menu, you can hide/show any column you choose
2. Set the values to 0 rather than 100 for Light Sensor?
No.

from the exception, I think what's happening is that you are minimizing or maximizing tastudio, then closing the emulator. Then when opening it again, it is crashing. I know the fix if that is the case.

I've said things on IRC, but I just want to post that I'm loving this TAS. You are doing good work. Keep it up! I remember having fun TASing this game. It seems that you are as well.

That's been done now, and will be in the next release. You will be able to do greater/equal/less then for all the maximize and tie breaker options

What ilari said is true, and equally true for bizhawk (when bizhawk eventually has multitap support it will have the same limitation) It wouldn't be feasible in snes9x either. To my knowledge, none of our emulators are capable of this.

Let's stop harping on Warp for a minute to reflect on what moozooh said right there: "It's not the sex we're celebrating; it's the courage." There's still a stigma around gender issues, particularly trans-issues, and it takes a lot of courage to stand up in the face of all of that and say, "No, seriously, the physical of my body and the makeup of my mind disagree, and we can change the body medically now." Remaining silent is nice, it sends the message, "Oh, trans-issues are less of a thing and people are more accepting of one another as humans and less as binary choices that have to be filled out." However, speaking up in support is a much stronger message - it's supportive. It suggests to the people that are too afraid to step forward that they /can/ do so, and will be met favourably. A thread like this is a show of support, and it absolutely belongs on this site, in this forum.
Well said!
