Yeah, pretty much what Fabian said. In theory a movie that is just more entertaining COULD obsolete a movie, but it would have a tough time winning over the audience to do so.

What Warp said. However, most people do rate based on how close to frame perfect they think a movie is. I used to rate that way as well, but have since changed how I look at the technical rating. However, I don't particularly think any way of rating is right or wrong. Just keep in mind that what you see as an unfair rating might just be a different interpretation of the rating system.

Not true. With so many nominations, we may have to weed some out. Those nominated the most are more likely to make it to the poll

Can you show me the examples of biased author ratings that are skewing results? So much so that it is worth taking time to code the site to stop them? Ditto for voting. Show me the problem, otherwise this is a non-issue.

The intent was for this to be the first time publication of a game, not the first time publication of a new category for an existing game.

People, stop using the submission ID instead of the Movie ID!

The First Edition TAS of 2010 is [1569] DS Brain Age "playaround" by Ryuto in 04:08.10. Congratulations to the winner and to all the nominees! --- Polling is now open for the First Edition TAS of 2010. Polling is done by approval voting, meaning you choose all of the movies you believe are deserving of the award; the movie approved of by the greatest number of voters will win the award. Polling will close at midnight UTC on 15 January 2011. Nominations: --- We are trying a new award this year: the First Edition TAS of the year. This thread tracks nominations and, later, voting for the First Edition TAS of 2010. The First Edition TAS of 2010 is intended to be awarded to the most impressive first time publication of a game published during 2010. When nominating a movie, please use the movie BBcode tag with the movie's ID number, e.g. [movie]1423[/movie], which yields [1423] GG Sonic the Hedgehog by sgrunt in 19:18.70; this will make it easier for us to both look at the movie and question and add the movie properly to polling once it opens. Let the nominations begin!

My first post was mostly the anticipation of Mega Man being the most nominated. However, personally I want to [1596] NES Tetris "maximum score" by Acmlm in 03:11.78

I liked how the previous movie managed to do the delaystageclear thing a few times while still showing some classic awesome Megaman TASing. Doing it in every stage is going to really sap the fun out of this TAS :(

Slower than the 1-player movie. Two glitching turtles vs 1 is marginal in terms of entertainment value. And we have a 4 - player Arcade version that satisfies the multi-player aspect much better. I think this movie is redundant in all aspect so I vote no for publication

Easy yes vote from me. Some nice classic castlevania action. This game also has some nice historical value which is a plus for me.

First of all, $0400 is Mario's sub-pixel not pixel position. For references see the bottom of this page. 0086 is Mario's position. So you are using Memory searching and watching tools fine it seems. I also like the approach you are taking. While SMB is very unlikely to be improved it is a great game for learning the ropes and getting used to the tools.

Hmm, looking at it again, it seems like there are already clock-stopping glitch runs on the site.
But no clock stopping glitch movie has been published, only submitted.
