We have 2 verdicts here: 1) Use this glitch and use old PPU 2) TASers, please quit trying to use new PPU. The old PPU is in there specifically for us.

Gah, that makes the situation even more confusing. Nintendulator is the most like the real NES of all of them currently. So I lean towards that being the true result.

Is there anyway to see if this glitch is possible on Nintendulator or Nestopia. These are more accurate emulators and would serve as a good reference to help clarify this issue. From what I read, it doesn't sound easy to just recreate this stuff without lua tools though. If the New PPU is more accurate. Plain and simple. If it can't be done with the new PPU that is a pretty big indicator that it might not be possible on a real NES at all. If the glitch is simply exploiting the flaws in the old PPU, then it will not be allowed. We strive to achieve what is theoretically possible on a real NES. Using emulator flaws goes against this goal.

Ok, this wasn't intended to be a thread where encoders argue over bitrates. It was intended to get simple user feedback. Is downloading higher quality movies at a larger filesize desireable?

Tough choices! I went with SOTN, it has so many impressive tricks, glitches, and routes. A really impressive movie.

I wanted to vote megaman 2 because the (woodman) glitches are awe inspiring. However, I interpret the award as the movie that is the most glitched out. For that I have to go with the 5 hour RPG that was beaten in 20 minutes.

This is a tough one. I think it comes down to HappyLee or Lord Tom for me. HappyLee is amazing but I give Lord Tom more points for having more than one game on the list. But both are very strong. I'll hold off voting for now.

I couldn't decide between DarkKobold, maTO, or marzojr. SO I flipped a coin and DarkKobold won.

Family Feud, as it is the only TAS in the list that I think is in the original spirit of the innovative category. It does something that other TASes don't and in creative fashion. Someone exploiting the spell check mechanism of a game show video game and turning that into something novel. That is thinking outside the box.

Of the ones on the list, Decap Attack is my personal favorite. So I guess I'll vote for that!

I vote Cpadolf. He produced many TASes, all of which are high quality.

Game completion is NOT what this category is about. It is about fast movement on the screen. For that I voted Tetris DS. Man those pieces are flying around at robotic speeds.

I voted for All-Souls, the reason it took so many years to make was from the the ridiculous luck manipulation needed. And Kriole did it in impressive fashion.

I voted arukAdo. For rookie I value quantity & variety the most. I find it impressive when a new TASer can quickly adapt to so many platforms & emulators so quickly. I also find arukAdo's work to be of solid quality.

I voted for Family Feud obviously. Highly Funny and in a novel way. And I love that it shows that you can do amazing things with rerecords other than beat something in the shortest period of time.

I voted for the "most manly" TAS of 2009, Super Metroid any%. The TAS that solved the in-game vs real time debate the "real man's" way; by beating both TASes with the same movie! Yeah! That and the incredible optimization in this movie gets my vote.

The time period I am talking about is much more recent that "2009". I'm specifically talking about Aktan's encodes as of the last few months.

That doesn't mean we should aim to break it. Although I think it can warrant us to raise the bar a bit. Perhaps to 5:1 or even 6:1.
Aiming to break it wasn't my point. My point is that you have been happy with movies that do break it, not the other way around.

Just to clarify some details on this issue. This is a feature that has been on the site for the longest time. However, when the server was tranferred to us, this feature was broken. So for about 6 months we had no blocking, in which time I guess users got used to having this freedom. A few days ago Nach realized it was broken and hooked it back up. 1) 6 hours isn't that long. Now that you know, quit doing this behavior 2) Coding some new feature instead is out of the question in the forseeable future. We have limited time and a huge list of more important things to do.
