As a competitive chess player this was not very interesting to me. I think more interesting would be trying to fulfill various achievements. Fastest stalemate, fastest self-mate (get yourself checkmated, if that wasn't obvious), fastest checkmate with a pawn, force the opposing king to YOUR king's original square and mate, etc.
Just my two cents. Considering most of you are not competitive chess players, I doubt you'll share my sentiments.
Those are all interesting suggestion. All of them would be a more impressive feat than a 3 move checkmate.
Publish this one to encourage more interesting ones? I liked it a lot; FractalFusion always pulls out great random movies :D

I don't know if it's what you're looking for, but most Philip K. Dick books bring up larger philosophical issues like the meaning of identity and reality. He's kind of a nutjob which is why I like him. Also try Sirens of Titan or Slaughterhouse 5 by Kurt Vonnegut. Not quite traditional sci fi but good reads.

I think the un-skippable animation time between rotations contributes to the total time to the point that champions doing it in real-time are faster.
I don't know why you'd think that when the submission text makes it clear that this is not the case. I mean, you're entitled to your opinion, but the facts are clear that this submission beats all official human records despite the handicap of the animation time. I guess there could be some unofficial faster times, but I couldn't find any videos.

And there are twenty "new" submissions in the queue since 3/20; could these be addressed, please? Seriously, it's been two weeks.
Two weeks is actually really good compared to historical wait times. Frankly, I think submissions should be given at least a month before they're judged anyway.

Yeah that was pretty good too. But I don't think it's fair to compare it to Myst. In fact it's rather opposite: Wario Ware for the most part is forced to be a specific length of time. Whereas in Myst you can skip most of the game. True, skipping the game is trivial for non-assisted runs as well. However, I watched the sda run and it looks very different. You can tell it's a human. This run is executed "perfectly" and has a clever fireplace code entry to boot. Sorry for running my mouth about this again after pretending to give up :\

It won't die because there are people that would really have liked it to be accepted.
I really don't get how publishing this ass rapes the site, but, whatever.

Sure, someone will win, but who gives a shit?
I thought this god damn site wasn't supposed to be about competition but entertainment. SDA is about competition. That's why it doesn't matter that we're cheaters.
This TAS is about seeing a great game killed quickly. I think more people would find this entertaining than a lot of the stuff we have. But whatever.
Also, yeah, big thanks Scepheo for making the definitive run as far as I'm concerned and for being less annoyed about the decision than I apparently am.

i really have a hard time believing that this is less appealing than, say, this: http://tasvideos.org/905M.html
or probably several other runs which i won't single out so as not to hurt anyone's fragile ego
maybe i'll start just going to sda, people there have real skill anyways

Whoah, I stopped reading this thread a couple of pages ago and judging by the length of posts here I am now permanently scared of continuing to do so.
BUT wanted to vocally express my approval of publication! I am surprised!

The one audible laugh I got from it was more than a vast majority TASes. Yes Vote.
This. Thanks for taking my suggestion about doing something with the fireplace, you exceeded my expectations :)
On the subject of how hard it is to make, that really shouldn't matter folks. This is not some pissing contest to see who can do 400k rerecords. This is a pissing contest to see who can make an entertaining movie.
Voted yes twice.

I say submit it, unless your fragile ego cannot bear the possibility of rejection :)
I can guarantee it won't be accepted if you don't submit it
I would also like to point out that earlier I wrote:
Nice! My only comment is that I think it would be nice to do something clever while entering the elevator code... I was thinking of trying to spell something but I don't think there's enough room. But something other than just entering it left to right top to bottom would reinforce that it's a tas and not just a fast tapping human ;)
And I still think that's true as long as it doesn't waste time.

Saying more than just "no" or "yes" would be helpful.
That's what I was trying to point out, sorry for being a passive aggressive bitch. I will probably have more to say once I manage to watch the movie :)
