Thanks guys. I've been kinda confused since the vault became a thing and watching what was published in it made the impression that "anything goes" without much question. I was just happy to see lots of runs that I think deserved to be on the site being finally published that it was enough for me. To an untrained eye, like mine, this run deserves vault. But I understand now why this is not the case.

Does vault accept unoptimized runs?
First, your TAS must beat ALL known TASes and real time records for individual levels, segments or full game runs, unless differing circumstances (like the RNG being different, resources at the start of the level being different, emulator/game differences, etc) mean it is impossible to do so. - Obviously no TAS is ever so optimal that no improvement can be made (even supposedly perfect runs are obsoleted soon or later), but if your TAS shows a consistent level of optimization errors that 1) aren't because of not knowing of a trick's existence at that point into the run (such as the yoshi's island any% TAS not using walljumps because they weren't known yet) 2) don't require a deep understanding of the game to discover (e.g. it's okay if your TAS is unoptimized due to the RNG being frustrating to work with, or if there are lots of chaotic side-effects of doing actions that make it hard to save frames without trial and error) it's not optimized enough for TASvideos.
But isn't the vault supposed to contain runs for every game? So isn't an unoptimized one better than none? Sure, terrible sloppy runs should be rejected, but this doesn't seems to be the case. I liked this submission because it was short and fun, but I'm not actually trying to defend it though. I'm more trying to understand how the vault policies work.

I kinda agree with the feeling that the ending is a little disappointing, but I don't think this run deserves to be rejected because of that. There's a lot of possibilities for entertainment here and publishing this would increase the chances of that happening. I vote yes for the moon tier and I think this really should get an star with a more elaborated ending.

This game is a great candidate for playaround, IMO. If you plain on submitting it here, I think you should make things as funny as possible. All stages have they time fixed, so there's no point is rushing things. You are allowed to make some mistakes and still get a Superb result. Although they are not necessary to pass the stage, it is more stylish to get them. In Glee Club and Fan Club, the faces they make when you miss a note is very funny, so I think you should probably show it. However, it could be perceived as sloppy playing, so you have to keep balance with other aspects so we can see it's a superplay. Keeping the rhythm with the cursor and other elements from the game even if not required is one way to do it. There are probably others. Some playaround with the tutorials could also be good, but I wouldn't abuse it. One video I like from the Wii version is this one. It show how funny this game can get, and still manage to get a good score at the end.

I really like the category and I think SMB is great game for that. It's a simple game, so it's possible to get a low amount of presses without much slowdown, and it's also a popular one, so people will be interested in watching the movie and possibly in the concept in general. The DDR display is really not needed to make it interesting. Sure it adds to the fun, but just know the game is finish with the minimum amount of presses is enough for me. Watching when a button is pressed is particular relevant in this case, so I think some way to show that should be considered if the movie is published as a secondary encode. IMO, there is a lot of tases that looking boring and not well played at first, but when you understand more what it is about you see why it was done that way. In this cases I watch it again and really enjoy it. One example that comes to mind is a TAS of Crash Bandicoot (can't remember exactly which one), the player die often, slowdown when it's apparently not necessary and get out of way to destroy boxes for no apparent reason. After reading the submissions notes i learned that this is all necessary to not get a cristal or boxes thrown at your head when the stage finishes, which costs time. I'm just saying that because it seems to be the opinion of some, it's not mine though. The objective is very clear, and if you see Mario slowing down you know it's because it saves a press, now or in the future. If it seems suspicious, the subtitles or the submission text really helps understanding. As for the improvement made by HappyLee, he looks like will not submit it. Even if he would, I'm not sure if the promise of a better TAS should be enough to reject the one we have. It's always possible to obsolete it later. So, all reasons explained, I vote yes.

Can't you just add a certain amount of frames to recreate that memory state?
RAM differs right after the restart and I could sync just one value, out of six, with input. But everything I know about tasing I learned on the last few hours, so someone else will have to that check too. Don't know if you saw this. It syncs with FCEUX. I tried to use the beginning of this input on the accepted movie, but it didn't work either.

Mickey Mousecapade requires a reset to manipulate the enemies on the first room. Is it possible to do it with the bot? I will try to sync Battletoads, but I can't promise anything.

I actually thought about tasing this game for a while, since I could never beat the last act as a child, but I never manage to have time. Here's what I would've done in this case: - Choose english on the first menu. There's not too much text in this game, but it seems to be the norm around here, so people might complain if you don't. - Choose the hardest dificult. Again, it's common to tas games on hard and there's really no reason not to. - Show the bonus levels or some other goal that force you to get more/all stars. This game is pretty straightforward (run, run, run and sometimes jump), so if you have to get out of your way to get some stars it'd make it more fun and differ it better from a normal playthrough. I think I saw some minor improvements, but I really can't tell without the .gmv and learning to tas first.
