one minor point: on KB1, it might be beneficial to make use of the lone question mark after the 2nd turn. you can use a mushroom from the previous lap while on the question mark to jump over the dark water to the finish line while obtaining another mushroom; thus, bypassing the travel to the group of question marks. major point: all walls can be glitched through with mushrooms. this would be beneficial on final laps and a longer course like MC3, where feathers aren't accessible http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=XgMIxnVrRI0 that CI1 lapskip was amazing. we had seen it on CI2 before, but i didn't know about the first one.

yea, you might lose half a second generating the longboost. if you can longboost normally off that last left arrow and manage to get around the wall and first set of bumps, it might be useful. if not, you should longboost off the wall after the right arrow.

I couldn't get the second turn to work even with a double bounce off that wall, I hit the next wall 3 times.
it should be OK if you just got the first turn to work. it's not possible to make it by boosting off the left arrow instead of the right?

i know Yoshi's turning is rather wide, but wouldn't it better with him?

my apologies. i didn't consider that the first lap wouldn't have to be driven at 0 acceleration. so if you have a 7.3 second lap, a 6.8 second lap, 2 2.8 second laps, and a 10 second lap, that makes the total 29.5, 1.5 seconds faster than the record. and if you manage to pull it off on the first lap, you can have 2 10.5 second laps, and 3 2.8 second laps which would make the total 29.5 roughly as well. of course, the small amount of distance more that lakitu puts you down on the track compared to RR could add half a second. worth a look here and on GV1 and GV2, definitely.

it's actually quite a bit longer than that. you can look at bc2 for the relevant times. it takes about 4 seconds for lakitu to drop you down and let you accelerate again so that would be roughly 10 seconds per lap on gv3 times 3 totaling 35 seconds.

this isn't confirmed, but i bet the lapskip can be pulled off on gv2 using yoshi or princess considering the time trial records are set with them.

looks clean for the most part. i don't see any problems with the strategies used.

yea, i had no idea they could be done without a star. i guess a miniboost gives you the same speed as a star.

Sounds like fair game to me, it's a programmer oversight rather than an intended cheat. People might not like it though, and it makes it impossible to compare with the official real-time records. I wouldn't use it for that reason.
we use it for the real records. we also use 2 players because pipes and thwomps come in 2 instead of 4. http://membres.lycos.fr/bunga/vids/Nico_MC1_49-90_sf.avi

http://www6.ocn.ne.jp/~neka/movie/e11_nokobi1.mpg i proposed that making the cut where the question mark lies should be ok since it's such a large water cut and doesn't abuse the lapskip. (you can probably hit this 1/10 on the snes, but it might be faster with a star shroom combo). we could add that shroom/feather trick to KB1 SC, which would be similar to CI1, CI2, KB2 SC that involve feathers around the finish line. but any trick that involves falling off the track or lakitu helping you out shouldn't be included or part of a glitch ranking.

he goes from bowser to koopa so it's only one movement. same with star to special.

well, you can't shroom over those light starting blocks, but if you can shroom around them to longboost, it'd work.

well, controller 2 starts one place ahead as well as on the side of the track nearest the first turn, so you can have a tighter turn. it might save around .25 seconds.

no, you choose 1 player but using the 2nd controller holding L + R. 2nd player starts in 7th place in a normal 2-player race.

i used the 2nd controller exploit to start a 1 player race in 7th place rather than 8th. should this be acceptable for a TAS? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zJUqbKlk83c
