Solaris looks pretty interesting and very confusing!
If anyone wants to take it on with a TAS let me know. I'd do it myself, but I have zero experience with Bizhawk. I was playing around with it to get it's controls up. I have maps and route information from a WIP with my savestates. There's glitches and stuff that I am sure someone could break the game in half with them.

I think this is the definitive Atari 2600 title and most deserving to be represented by a TAS.
That would be Solaris. Solaris would be the greatest Atari 2600 TAS.

It's just possible to cross the barrier, refueling three times. Did some testing, it's possible to reach the brown section for your (first!) refuel. Then after clearing half the section, you can pick up two extra lives, and return back to the original map and the 1st West section, for your second refuel. Third refuel - it is possible to do it from the second brown map and cross the gap, but just barely. It would probably be easier to simply clear the first west map when you cross it (as you enter it 3 times. Yellow 1 (West than North/South, isn't useful. Going through the final section, it is possible to go all the way to the guaranteed red zone before you finally run out of fuel. You'll run out of fuel once more, (although a TAS may find it possible to lose just one life through the very long gap. It doesn't look like a deathless run is possible, without exploits. It is possible to beat the game without blowing up a planet, wait for the planet to be engaged by invaders and then you'll be able to pass through it.

Doing some route mapping of Solaris, for the first 8 maps. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v484/obiwan18/Solarismaps_zps216c1404.png Route options are: West, North, West, North to level 8. (via minefield) West, South, West, North to level 8. (via corridor and additional enemy) At level 8, there's some choices. There's an extra life available, that may be worth taking. I don't believe the second extra life in the White zone north of level 8 is worth the time. I was able to make it all the way through to level 8 without losing a man, and lost my first man when I went to go pick up the extra life. The gap between level 1 and level 9 seems a little bit too long to be able to cross the barrier without losing a life.

Solaris? That's number one on my wishlist. It would be a fantastic game to TAS.
