That decision was before the implementation of the vault tier. Now that the vault tier exist, I think it should be un-obsoleted.
That and the qoute from your previous post kinda say that ports don't matter now:
While you're here, can you please un-obsolete the NDS Resident Evil run? I mentioned it in the SMW GBA TAS, but kinda forgotten about it until Mothrayas brought the SMW run up.
I thought this was an appropriate topic, so I'm asking what do I do if I NEED to start a movie from SRAM, because I get the exact same error :(. Any way to fix it?
For my starfy newgame+ run, I just played the published run to generate a save file, then select start from reset like the OP did.
Edit: using this revision: vba-v24m-svn422
Just hope there's no other problems, because i've deleted my copy of mupen's source, and will never download such an awful thing ever again.
I've heard alot of people saying Mupen sucks. Other than the frequent desync issues and mess of code, what makes Mupen bad?
Sorry, just wanted to know.
No, it won't. You can't even play Hot Top Volcano if don't beat it first in Adventure mode.
But... since it seems to be an any% run, wouldn't it be better to beat the first Wizpig?
This way you can start from a clean SRAM and avoid a lot of trouble with people wanting to prove that you cheated when you didn't.
Then how's this a legit "New Game +"? If this gets accepted, then the Starfy run should too.
Hi! I'm working on 3 DS TAS's, and there's a problem I found. The firmware settings in the movie file doesn't get applied to the movie during playback, so I have to manually change it.
Hi! I'm not sure if it's related, but in GTA: ChinaTown Wars, you can only change the the camera angle at frames the emulator considers to be a lag frame. In the non-laggy frames, you can only use the buttons instead; the stylus won't do a thing. How exactly does this work?
On your last TAS, there was little gameplay. In this TAS, there is no gameplay at all. Nice game-breaking there.
I recommend this screenshot, one of the few actual gameplay.(frame 7148)
Edit: Oh wait, I was comparing to the one that already obsoleted. But still good anyway.
That's not part of the gameplay; it's still the demo, but desynched. The gameplay sorta begins after the conversation with the clam.
the game decided to wait 60 frames or so before a valid frame could be found that won't result in making me go OoB when I corrupt the save.
I'll try and see if delaying the first pause can change this.
It doesn't matter anymore! I found an even faster way to finish the last boss, which required me to pause the game, so this point is invalid now!
Improvement
Can a judge or mod please replace the current submission with this one? Thanks!
I personally would reject every single instance of Myst.
Even back when it first came out, all I saw was a slide show of pretty pictures that they somehow tried to slap some semblance of a game onto.
......
Instead of making another submission as protest, I think I have an idea what to do. Oh, and on a completely unrelated note, is 2006-11-26 the birthdate of TASVideos, or 2003-12-06?
adelikat and I want to allow records for TASs that actually mean something. We don't want TASs for random software where the TAS is pretty much meaningless. (I welcome your Microsoft Excel submissions this April 1)
This run is less meaningful than Myst?
Ok, I won't keep poking at Myst. But I disagree with the TAS being meaningless for this game since Sweetie Belle's a certain minigame can be improved with better luck and precision.
In other words, it has more TAS-like elements than You've got to burn the rope.
You are actually quoting me from when I rejected Myst, not accepted (also from when there was no Vault, so I'm not sure why it matters either way).
Given what I've read about movies being eligible for the Vault, and what I generally understand from it, I've come to the conclusion that this movie does not meet the outlined requirements.
What is eligible for the Vault is not defined relative to the most peculiar TASes that are in the Vault. Judging is done by several people who could have slightly different interpretations of the guidelines or just a different experience when seeing the movie. This may be why, when comparing two decisions made different judges, they may seem inconsistent. This is not to say that a single judge was inconsequent: I was not the one who accepted any of those movies you linked.
I took that quote because it pretty much applies to this run too, but for some reason, that meets the outline requirements more than this run. I mean, I can accept the GBA run being rejected for this reason (note that I haven't even bothered to comment on it untill now), but this run has more TAS-like elements to it. While not alot, but it resembles something you can't do in real time more so than the Myst and the GBA MlP run. :P
What about "Myst"? It's just fast menu navigation.
The real time runs look almost identical to it minus the faster navigation.
This TAS only differs from the speedrun in reaction time, which is even less of a difference than for instance minesweeper, where also the thinking time is avoided, and luck manipulation required. This is not the fault of the TASer, but the game.
From the Myst first rejection message.
Edit: Given the above message, the fact that it still got accepted means this should too. :P
This is probably a subjective thing, but I judged this TAS to have some of the features that were meant in this remark about serious games on the vault description page. This, in combination with the gameplay not standing out from non-assisted play, lead my to the decision to reject the movie. Note that this had nothing to do with it being a game about ponies. Feel free to disagree and discuss though :).
Atari in general. Nah, the games back then were like that, it can be excused.
But how about "You have to burn the rope", "Myst", "Salary Man Champ: Tatakau Salary Man?
The first one is a tivial flash game based homebrew, the second has no luck manipulation, and the third is a 18 - minute button masher.
Edit: All the runs I've listed are vault runs, btw.
