Here's a faster version of a section of the "test run". It is 1174 frames (00:19.57s) faster than the "test run" by the time it reaches the area with "MAN". WIP Any comments/suggestions on the route/strategy? Edit: For reference *Call option is faster than pause trick in some parts of the run. This defeats the purpose of "Dying" to save time, as I need 2 people to "Call" longer and 3 people to carry all those items. *MAN, MANIAC, SKELETON, and GHOUL are the enemies I'll use to train on. *Training is difficult; actions and delay both influence the RNG for steps needed for next encounter. *Dying is too long to make use of anyway. *The pulley wasn't used in the "test run", but it may have some use as it speeds up walking. *"GHOST", encountered in the dungeons with the quicksand, was used to quickly escape the place. *The steps for next encounter ranges from 10 - 74. With the pause trick, it can range from -127 - 127. More notes as I look through the run.

Wow...I just discovered that almost everytime I open the menu, it's one frame slower =/. Also, that pause trick/glitch is pretty useful, so I'll have to redo the entire run. Edit: Here's the youtube link of the previous run.

Finally! After 2 weeks of TASing, I did it! Sweet Home (J) in less than 1 hour! Complete Test Run here. And yes, I know it uses a bad rom, but the good rom doesn't work. =\ Anyway, the game uses a step counter for each encounter, so during powerleveling, I mainipulate this address: 617D to be under 20. The enemy's hp is 6252. Edit: This run is improvable. Improvements include: Better enemy management Better inventory management Better use of "Call" Better team management Edit: Glitch to avoid encounters found. May be useful to delay encounters.

First Use Rom -> Emulator then Use Movie file -> Emulator

You want to know the difference? ok: Nes: *In color *T-rex appears twice; both time need to be killed; 30 hits to kill in the first battle, 60 for second *Triceratops appears twice. *The code used for level skip is different *Longer intro *"Cutscene" before boss battles absent GB: *Monochrome *T-rex is not a boss battle; appears only once *Triceratops appears only once *Level skip code different *Shorter intro *Cutscenes before a boss battle

Can this glitch be done on the NES version? I'm TASing that version due to less lag, and also, in that version, landing is 2x faster than walking, so jumping like mad is the way to go. =p Edit: BTW, that version is slightly slower due to more boss battles, but at least is in color.

Voted meh because it can't be "fastest time" if stage 5 was slower. .......... Don't hate me!

There's a port of this on Gameboy, but its laggy and monochrome so I chosed this version. It's slightly longer, but has color and is less laggy. I don't know if this is a bad game choice, so I made a TAS of the entire game just to show the game. Here it is. Joking aside, I haven't really TASed this game yet, only the first level. Jumping is key as landing is 2x faster than walking. So here's how it looks like! Any opinions?

jlun2, did you decide to TAS this horrible game because it was one the NES games that micro500 owned?
Yes, that was one of the reason.

If using coins = cheat-like, then shouldn't there be a rule for it?

What's the point of limiting yourself to 1 life if it's slower? Unless of course, the goal was to create a superplay which I'm sure it isn't. Btw, when will this issue be solved?

Since this run will most likely be rejected, I guess future speedruns will be forced to be slower. Also, when will this debate on the use of continues end? I can't find anywhere in the rules that all arcade games must use 1 coin only, unless of course, the rules have been changed since I last read them.=p

Probably.
In that case, since the desync will probably be due to more/less lag from greater emulation accuracy, and that may cause some trouble with timing in future runs, I think I'll just wait until the GBA core is updated.

When is it ready?
My plan was to update the GBA core before the v24 release. But I haven't got time for that... unfortunately. Would people mind an essentially (fixed) v20.x release as v24?
Will the GBA core's update cause movies made before/without the fix desync?

Like I mentioned in this thread, this has been done on a mario game, and is a really bad goal choice. And since this is now extended to 55 minutes, I don't think it can be that...entertaining.

Not to discourage you or anything, but there was a Mario run that also attempted to get lowest score, but it got rejected. So another goal choice may be better.

What's the point of voting yes if it'll be rejected for use of continues? I'll just not vote.

I got a question. If this run gets acccepted, do future runs require "game-breaking glitches" to be unused?

Not sure if this is the right place to post it but... Anyway, I came across this thread, and thought I had a try with TASing this game. Unfortunately, I can't seem to think of something entertaining. So I tried the sequel, and came up with a TAS of the first two stage. Since there are 6 battles that are set in time, I decided to do two different battles. The first is simply a playaround while the second attempts to obtain perfect + high-score. Any opinions on which one is better? Should I make a playaround or attempt to get high-score? Or is this game too boring?

I'm a little annoyed that both the characters were named A, but that doesn't matter very much for a run this short. I would like to request, though, that if you make a warpless run of this game, that you give them different names. I think wasting one frame to name the girl "B" would make things a lot clearer when you actually get to see the full plot of the game.
I think the problem is that some people would then go ahead and "fix" that 1 frame "improvement" and then claim that they did the run faster.

This is great! But will the site still accept movies from the previous PSx emulator?
