I've been inactive on TASvideos for a few years (I love TASes but was never good at doing them). Spider-Man is the only game I consider myself good at speedrunning and I was excited to watch your TAS, nicely done, definitely voting yes! I don't have a computer good enough to run bizhawk well but I have been playing around with OOB glitches and other things with Spider-Man 64 in my spare time and I know a few tricks that could nick some time off of your run. In no particular order: Hostage Skip In "Symbiotes Infest The Daily Bugle" you can skip the hostages entirely. When you open the elevator and try to go in, you touch an invisible marker and spiderman steps back automatically saying lives are at stake. If you do a 3-punch into the open door, and time frame precise punches (no problem with frame advance) you skip that marker and go right in to the next level. Web Dome Zipping For a frame or two (I don't know the actual number since I only play on console) when you walk off a building, high platform etc, Spidey is still technically walking, you can execute a jump, shoot web, and do anything while standing (You probably knew that much). If you do a web dome in the air this way, the game gets confused as to what you're standing on and you shoot upwards really fast. When the dome breaks way up high you have a few frames where you can jump out of it. This is a good way to get out of bounds in certain spots. Tunnel Crawl Skips 1. Its possible to fall past the water in the beginning tunnel. When you're under it you have total control, but only for a tiny bit until you fall completely out of bounds and die, or touch the water by zipping too far up. It might be possible to swing through it and/or use timed zips. With RTA it's almost not even worth trying because the setup is ridiculous. But I figured this would be TAS territory. 2. Using web dome zipping you can skip the rest of the level after the tunnel. Swing to the other side where the switch that lowers the water is. Run off the left or right edge and perform a dome zip. The level has no ceiling so you can jump over the wall and land in loading zone that completes the level. Waterfront Warehouse That skip is one of my all time favorites. When Spidey yells "Geranimo!" and falls to the end of the level, he's hitting a loading zone. It's possible to hit it without triggering that mini cutscene of him falling. This could be a possible time saver, instead of landing in the small tunnel and jumping around it. It's significantly harder to do though. Possible Stopping the fog skip? With a dome zip you can get over the walls since there is no ceiling. I've tried seeing if there is a loading zone similar to the Warehouse one in the door spidey uses to exit, but there is limited space to land when you do manage to get over. It'd be worth checking out. Great job again with the run, arandomgameTASer! I hope to see more excellent runs from you in the future!

The Blue Ring is superseded by the Red Ring.
Ah I see, that makes sense

I'm pretty sure this is just the music being off-key in the actual game.
I was gonna chalk it up to NTSC/PAL differences, but then this is a (J) Rom apparently. I remember hearing some of the game's music online before, which also sounded off back then, so I have to guess that's the case.
It happens because of loading save states, the music is off in this movie because of a save state being loaded from the same game, but different version and/or movie. You can do it with any SEGA Genesis game

You could make an in-game run with pausing on the actual game and have a separate run linked in the submission comments made with the hack/code. As far as editing the movie with pauses, if you can make a code as comprehensive as L + R switching, you could probably make a code to disable the music so after you edited the pauses out you could add the level's background music on a separate audio track. Just a thought

Do you start from file 3? If you do, you can go straight to "exit" and not have to save every time. It's a small time saver to keep in mind. I'm excited to see a run of this particular game, I've been following it for a while. Since I can't watch it on my current PC I'll hold out for an encode before I vote.

The way I look at this is a fresh perspective. This game has been TASed since the inception of this site. The more runs there are and the faster it gets, the less of the game you get to see. I realize I'm not an excellent and experienced TASer, but the point I'm trying to get across is why this run is "buster only", "no damage", and "glitchless". While it may seem boring to some, a large majority of people (myself included) probably could never beat a Mega Man game with just the buster and not taking damage in a fast time. It's a nice feat to see, now I wasn't expecting this to go anywhere (if it gets accepted at all) but the vault. I knew coming in to this run (and probably so did a lot of you) the Yellow Devil would be boring as hell to watch, trust me, it was even worse 1 frame at a time hahaha. Even great TASes have long drawn out boss fights or levels, but those aren't the run, they're the things that make the game what it is. That's all I really have to say about it.

Link to video I am going to go back and redo this unfortunately, this morning I found this glitch which would save time for sure. I wanted to post this to show you I'm still working on this but progress is slow. What do you guys think? Update: I have been testing the door glitch and you can't pause after you do it so it would only save time when fighting Buster Rod in level 1 and wily level 3 since he's weak to hard knuckle

Thanks once again for the movie file, but it's faster to play on file 3, and scroll to "quit" than save on file 1, so I made my own movie file of all 3 games but used file 3. Also here's the new WIP: Link to video (I went to Hyper Storm H after Mega Rod for fun, you don't have to complete them in a certain order)

Haha my bad. I just hadn't seen a post in a while and I'm really looking forward to a PM Tas, it's one of my favorite games, just trying to help

Couldn't you just start from an existing save? You'd have to supply the movie that makes the save as well as the main run, but that's no big deal because it doesn't have to be optimized.
Damn, how'd I not even think of that? Yes that would be a hassle free alternative thanks for reminding me, and thanks for the movie heldtogetherwithtape.

nice, but will you do all 3 games again or just wily tower?i think wily tower only run would be short and entertaining
Most likely the Wily Tower only since 3 Mega Man Games in a row without most of the time saving glitches of their NES counterparts would amount to almost an hour + of 3 games that while may have had a lot of effort put into, are games that have been done and seen before. The wily tower is a nice 10-15 minute game that showcases weapons and gadgets from MM 1-3 and some new music, it would be a nice alternative. I will have to use game genie codes to access it though.

With the new "Vault" that has been added, I think the Wily Tower might fall under that category if submitted. I think I'm going to start on this again since the Tower can be beaten under 15 minutes. I recently watched Frenom's run from '05 and found some cool tricks and read the submission comments. It seemed like a good number of people liked it, but it started from a save state and the PAL version was used which makes it slower. I've been using the (E) version with this patch to fix the SRAM issue and run it normally under the USA NTSC 60 hz. However, heard from this page: page 2 of Wily Tower Submission that there is a "Rockman Megaworld [a1] (J)" ROM that has the saving intact and would run at 60hz speed. Should I use the patch or the latter? Additionally, would this run have a chance at being accepted into the Vault?

I might try to pick this back up again but I don't have much time for TASing anymore. I did have an idea though, since the run will be on hard, why not use the Peter Parker costume to limit the web cartridges to 2 to make things more intersting? It's easily unlockable: Link to video

Nintendo consistently appears to be doing something incredibly stupid that then turns out to be brilliant -- at least in terms of success for their company. Say what you will about the Wii's motion control, it sold a crapton of consoles, including a bunch to people who had never played videogames before in their lives, and all at a profit. Thus, I'm reserving comment on the Wii U because anything I could say about it will likely come back to bite me in the ass.
You do make a good point and I feel like that's a good possibility for sure. I've always been mainly a Nintendo Gamer, didn't own PlayStation or XBOX, I DID have a Genesis though. All my friends thought the Wii was going to be stupid and gimmicky, I defended it and bought it. There were some gimmicky games but they had good titles like Mario and Zelda, Punch out was also awesome. I haven't bought more than 2 new games in the past few years for any new consoles. Maybe I'm just not that avid of a gamer anymore, but I just don't think it looks like a good system (peripheral?). It will still generate "Mom money" because of all of its social networking and movies for all ages, but without HD, my iPod can have better graphics than any Wii game Nintendo's made also, who wants to play big name games like Call of Duty (or whatever second rate FPS is or becomes popular) with motion controls. I played the 2010 remake of Goldeneye 007 with motion controls, it was okay but once I used a classic controller it played much better and for the record I liked the Wii Goldeneye a lot. Even if the Wii U is some great financial success (which it probably will be) I still don't think I would like it, but that's just my opinion.

In my opinion, the only thing that might be cool about the Wii U is TV compatibility with DS/3DS games finally (much like the Super Game Boy and the Game Boy Player). Other than that it just looks god awful. Most of the "new" games look like watered down versions of existing Wii and Gamecube games and mediocre sequels. Some are ports of PS3/XBOX 360/PC games with touch screen gimmicks. One of their games is literally New Super Mario Bros Wii, but the sorry sap with the Wii U controller creates platforms for the other 3. It feels like a Sega CD or 32x to me.

Goldeneye 007 for the Wii 007Agent under fire for the GC Both 007 games I know but goldeneye would be interesting with the wiimote since you could have precision and flawless accuracy (like any other FPS on the Wii)

Here's the next 2 levels: Link to video Something that took time for me to perfect was Jedi Style reward points. Here's how my reward/customization point plan goes: I need at least 105 pts to upgrade Force Rage to Level 3 so I can abuse it in boss battles. There are 10 hidden throughout the level. You get a max of 5 for how fast you beat the level (not a problem). You get a max of 10 for Jedi style. This is your usage of abilities and such. (Getting 10 in this category is a pain in the ass because there's always 1 that I can never get for whatever reason, but considering I have more than enough only missing 1 a stage, I don't consider it a huge loss.) That's 25 a level. There are 5 non-boss levels before the Mace Windu boss fight (since level 3 is the Count Dooku fight so we'll leave it out). That's 125 if all are collected. At first I didn't get the 10 hidden ones in Level 1 because it brings up a box explaining what they are and decided I would have enough anyway. However, it has just occurred to me that if I got those 10 hidden custom pts I could upgrade force rage to level 2 before Dooku and possibly beat him faster. I haven't tested if this IS faster yet but what do you guys think? I'm only 5 levels in so it's not a huge deal to start all over but I'm open for options. EDIT: Getting Rage to lv 2 before Dooku is pointless considering how scripted the fight is.
