Does anyone know what happened to TomatoBird8's Youtube account? https://www.youtube.com/user/Tomatobird8/about It seems like this Finnish person bought it or acquired it somehow. If TomatoBird sold it I guess that's OK but if it was hacked I think someone ought to do something about it.

Very entertaining run! Out of curiosity, are you the same BrotherMojo that made stepcharts for DDR/ITG? If so, I have to say I play your Buns of Steel chart like every day as a warmup, so thanks much for that!

I think we're probably closer to having the Zelda Collector's Edition disc run well on Dolphin than having that improved N64 emulator. Actually, does anyone know much about that version of Majora's Mask? Would that possibly be easier for TASing?

Wait, does this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gs4-dbGWhwc&l combined with this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sH7Or8zlHV0 not constitute barrier skip? Is it an issue with doing the 0-heart dive in the position of the first video?

Would the staff be open to the idea of someone coming on to attempt something like this? I can't say I'd have absolute confidence in being able to do it until I knew more about the current code, but I have done a fair bit of work in site backend, database interaction, etc. There's nothing about what I perceive to be the project that strikes me as outright impossible, at least. As far as time commitment, right now I can make no guarantees, but I think/hope over the summer I'll have enough free time to work on something like this. Also, funny coincidence, hit an error when I tried to make this post :)
Error in posting DEBUG MODE UPDATE users SET user_posts = user_posts + 1 WHERE user_id = 4521 Line : 674 File : functions_post.php Backtrace: includes/functions.php[745]: ErrorPrintBacktrace() includes/functions_post.php[674]: message_die(202, string(16) "Error in posting" , string(0) "" , 674, {string(61)}, {string(72)}) posting.php[682]: update_post_stats(string(5) "reply" , {array[4]}, string(1) "3" , 12469, 304451, string(4) "4521" )
From this glimpse of code alone I feel pretty comfortable I guess :)

I think we just need pages for each game that then link to the various submissions. That way we could get a lot more categories without adding much clutter. I don't think goals should be judged on arbitrariness but in their ability to produce a run people find interesting. The RBO Super Metroid run is a perfect recent example of this. If a movie is made that people still judge to be entertaining, optimized and innovative enough to have a place on the site, I don't think it should matter how arbitrary the goal or restrictions are. I'd honestly rather see 50 runs for Zelda all coming up with interesting restrictions or goals than 50 runs for random platformers I'll never play that just run to the credits. I may be alone in this opinion, but that's my two cents at least.

Well a way to help start on any% would be either finding or making a video of the sword going down zora's river. I heard it was made but various attempts to find on youtube turned fruitless and the the person I heard it from hasn't posted it so, perhaps it's a myth. This video would be very nice to figure which route is faster.
Do you mean this one? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMXmg-tiOMk

I think watching someone create a masterpiece of a game - composing music, amazing art - that requires absurd precision and speed and then playing it in the blink of an eye, like the Brain Age TAS, would be pretty cool.

Does anyone understand why he keeps doing that? Does he have a mylist on NND that still has all his old stuff?

ulillillia found an interesting glitch: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gwgWC05U148 Anyone have any explanation? This application is useless but this sort of thing probably can occur elsewhere.

I know this is still a long ways off, but I was wondering if you were planning on trying the big sequence break where you get a flying Chocobo at the first opportunity and fly to the Forgotten Continent before you get an airship. I feel like if you luck manipulated Chocobo Hot 'n' Cold perfectly, it might be faster.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r0PwmIs80UE Probably everyone really interested has already seen this, but it makes 1 star possible apparently. This will end up being faster than the N64 run! Also I think using this improvement will be the biggest improvement of a well made run in such a short time.

Also, has anyone ever TASed the credits? I looked on YouTube but didn't see anything.

I don't really like the fact that everything is artificially sped up. Everything seems better when it's twice as fast and put to catchy music. Unfortunately it sort of jades the technical quality. It is much harder to tell if it is a good execution or if you're just being faked into thinking it is good.
Haha, I think that's the highest compliment he could have received. Nothing in that video is faster than it would occur on the actual system.

Just as an example, here's a new run of Fox on Adventure. This is the level I'd expect to see for a published movie.

Wak, based on your WIPs, I would support publishing your All-Star run. It shows off a lot of the interesting things in the game that aren't seen in typical play. I think your chain of phantom hits is almost impressive enough on its own. I guess there'd be a hiccup due to it starting with SRAM but whatever. That's the sort of run I think this site should have for Melee.

Ice Climbers show up at a set time after you start the level, no matter how quickly you go up the mountain. Also, I might be coming from an atypical perspective, but I didn't find the run that interesting. Something like Adventure, made in 2006 with much more restricted abilities (no savestates, etc.) still seems much more entertaining and varied, albeit not as quick. Nowadays we know Fox is capable of things like this. If this run is just trying to get the best speed, it's improvable. If there's a speed/entertainment tradeoff, I'd argue that it's worth showing off more of the game's potential.
