Are you working on this in anticipation of doing a full (ie submittable) run, xenos? I've been working on this off and on for a while, but have no desire to get into a frame-war competition

.cl for basic arithmetic and A/V related functions. Quadratics and logrithmics are probably unnecessary. And if .cards, .dice, or .catboy/girl comes back, I will kill your goldfish

I agree with Zurreco about a middle ground. We should make up a whole series of icons consisting of one video game character in a megaman helmet, and randomly select which one to display. (or cycle them daily, or some other option)
I like this idea quite a bit. It showcases the history of the site while showing that we've branched out a lot since the NES days. And when PS2 TASing becomes a reality, Kratos in a megaman helmet will be sweet.

How well does this game work with hex-editing? Say, if you were to go in and take out one or two of the brutalities and throw in a Babality or another funny friendship instead? I think that would turn an already great run into a classic run.

An improvement of over two and a half minutes is more than enough to warrant an entirely new submission.

I have several times, but of course it was after I was an established member of the site. I also think that a quaranteen type approach for a users first submission would probably work well, although I'm unsure of the difficulty in implementing something like that.

I am fully in favor of having a post resriction in place, so that new-comers need to have X number of posts before being allowed to submit. 10 would probably be a sufficient number, high enough that the average troll would find it not worth their while, but low enough to not hinder someone with a genuinely good submission. It's also easier to spot suspicious accounts this way, so that questionable members are known before they submit anything.

Games sell hardware, not the other way around. Fun games will have bigger replay value and larger followings than the prettiest games, since there's always a newer, more pretty game just around the corner. Substance is what sells (usually, but of course there are always exceptions *psychonauts*)

May I suggest we try to obsolete all runs from 2005 and earlier?
I guess I could update this page to include 2005 movies, there's quite a few more though.

Having just watched this in the SNES thread, I can give this a very emphatic yes. It has so many shades of awesome.

SDR, I haven't been a fan of a lot of the runs you've done, but that was one of the most entertaining things I've seen in a long time! So many glitches, and well put together fights! I really enjoyed watching it.

He had a new line in the middle of a sentence, with a leading space creating the formatting snafu. It's fixed now.

Considering I can actually get the site to load now, I'd say it's much improved :) Big thanks to everyone involved!

Nope.
Neither was OJ. Our legal system is clearly not perfect.

You make it sound like you knew him personally. He may or may not have done the things he was accused of, and yes he was talented, but I didn't need the American media to tell me he was nucking futs.

He was a good entertainer, but it's nice to know another pedophile is off the street. Now the only thing little boys have to worry about is catholic priests

Nineko, I've seen you do some strange things, but this just has me confused. I'm assuming you canceled this simply for the attention, since that seems to be your prime motive with a lot you do, but still... very odd behavior.

I've always found it's hard to coordinate movements with music while using frame advance, and too hard to make the movements look precise without frame advance, so I just tend to find other things to do during the waiting periods.

I have something to confess... I almost never listen to the sound when I'm watching videos here. I'd say at least 90% of the time I mute the sound and listen to other music. The only exceptions are games where either I know and like the music or if I have heard the game is supposed to have good music. Maybe this is why I have a higher tolerance for boring movies... if it gets tedious for a spell I can listen to the music and still have a good time. Anyone else in this camp? Am I a bad movie watcher?
Alden, I do the exact same thing, except for me it's closer to 97% of the time that I don't listen to the sound. Sometimes I don't even know what a game sounds like when I'm done TASing it.

In reference to the last 10 pages of this thread: "Well, there is no reason whatsoever to vote no, nor is meh a good enough option. I really do think a best out of ten system would be better, as I would of given it an 8 and in terms of percent I would have given it 92% (yes, confusing I know I'll explain why shortly). That might sound confusing but an eight is to signify that its not a high 9. Since I can't rate I'll simply have to vote yes."
