Vykan12: I think mostly everyone else on this site has come to the conclusion that Saturn is simply being a troll and attention whore nowadays, and it would be better off to just ignore him. Trying to talk sense into him hasn't worked at all, and he won't go away despite the fact that no one likes him being here anymore, so the next best option is to just pretend he isn't here. As for the 100% run, I agree that X-ray climb is boring, but I just worry about the somewhat arbitrary restriction of glitches. But I'm sure whatever you guys make will be entertaining as can be, and won't have any problems getting published, so it's no biggie.

Hi five to you too snorlax. And yes, I was raising my hand. I assumed you would have known my stance on a BLJless 70 star run due to the 2 page argument we had a while ago where I said "70 stars would be fun!", and you said "No, no one will ever find it entertaining, ever!"

This sounds like an awful lot of arbitrary choices for which glitches to use and which ones to avoid. Granted, I don't know what each one is, and I know that the murder beam has been skipped before despite being faster (for in-game time, I think), but how will you guys come up with clear goals that don't boil down to "Chose the fastest route unless it was less entertaining to do so"?

Just because you like to explain things in vague terms doesn't mean that I, nor anyone else who has responded to you, has poor knowledge of the forum's history. I even had part of that quote in my effing signature for a couple months. Next time, assume that people won't automatically know what you're thinking about when you say that "Someone once did something at some point in time"

I would goatse or tubgirl you for that, but this is a family show. Also, it's awesome turning random nouns into verbs.

You'll have hard time explaining the difference to those not too familiar with the game. :)
Well, you see, when bosses reach a certain age, their bodies begin to change. They reach a certain time of the month and.... oh nevermind. I guess I'm just thankful there aren't tampo-bosses.

Good lord, that's a huge improvement. Will you be making your discoveries about frame savers public when you submit, so that someone can possibly get (re)started on the 100% run? Also, good luck with your residency, I'm currently doing a clinical internship also, but my hours are a little less insane (only about 45/week).

It would also mean that we publish as many movies worthy of 1s and 2s as we do movies worthy of 8s and 9s. Hence the "standards" of publication that we have. A more realistic average would probably be around 7 for both categories, since a movie that ends up with scores of 5s for both tech and entertainment is usually right on the border of being rejected in the first place, and most movies (even the great ones), top out at 9-9.3.

You're just missing the reference to a rating system that someone attempted to apply at one point in response to the site rating system. Seriously, though, way to jump the gun.
Yes, that perfectly clears things up. In other words, I still have no idea what you're talking about.

More than likely you can take your backpack, but it will need to be checked (as in a coat check, where you hand over your item, and they give you a corresponding claim ticket to get it back). I recently went to the Philadelphia Museum of Art and they had a similar policy. $20 is quite a bit, but for people who are really into art, it's $20 for a very full day of exhibits. As for taking pictures, most places will allow it as long as you only use natural light (no flash), but then again it probably depends on the institution.

False. It is primarily an east coast problem. Having lived in two different states on the west coast, I was astounded at how fast people lay on their horns when I first drove in Pennsylvania.

Lolcats are old now. Celebrity Jeopardy quotes, however, are now classified as retro: Sean Connery: Well, you were wrong, you mountebank. I pose a conundrum to ya, I riddle if you will Alex Trebek: I don't want to hear it. Sean Connery: What's the difference between you and a mallard with a cold? One's a sick duck and I can't remember how it ends, but your mother's a whore.

I've never been there, but I know that the boroughs in NY are similar to the neighborhoods in Philadelphia, where you can literally be in near-ghetto conditions and 5 blocks later be in nice, upstanding suburbs. Perhaps you've just managed to visit the neighborhoods with the most black people. As for Spanish speakers, there are a lot of Cuban and Domincan immigrants (as compared to California where there are a lot of Mexican and Central American immigrants). But once again, if you travel to different places I guarantee you'll hear Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, Russian, and pretty much any other language you care to try to identify. It just depends on where you're at.

:) I find it unsettling when a little kid is bilingual, no matter which two languages. With all the idiosyncrasies of English, I can see how you'd be impressed, but just remember that most kids have just a cursory knowledge of English. For example, it's common to hear children say something like "I sitted there", or "That's a lot of sheeps", or anything else that involves conjugating irregulars. Also, the rest of the US isn't as humid as the East Coast. The west side of the country usually has much, much less humidity during the summer (and I'm very glad all my future summers will be spent there).

Isn't this area for tas/speedruns of things that are not accepted by this site? Which makes this the proper place? Even if not 100% exciting?
Just kidding imo.

Ok, new topic. Way back in February I was working on a new method for doing the 1st lap in Luigi Raceway. Here it is. I can't quite seem to find a way to build up enough speed to mylestyle over the sandy hill; however, if I held AB and kept speed brake spinning, I may be able to maintain more momentum after landing and build enough speed to get over the gray wall.
You don't need that much speed to do the mylestyle. I made a short movie that completes the first lap in 6.76 which can be found here. Time is wasted at the start because I was testing the idea of doing the lap 3 trick on lap 1 (which was very difficult). Edit: Although it doesn't really matter because you have to wait for Wario on lap 3 anyway.
Frame ruled by the AI :(. I know it's been talked about before, but is there any way to manipulate any of the other characters to show up earlier?

Deign has seemingly disappeared from all usage of the forums and IRC. He may not have a stable internet connection at home (he was at university for the past 9 months), so he may be back in the fall, but at this point, his status (and thus this runs status) are unknown.

Nice run, and moderately intertaining. Yes vote. One note though: You wobble way too much in this run. A few times is ok, but it becomes annoying after that. Please don't take this as anything but constructive criticism; I really did like your movie.

You can't fool me. You chose this game just because the last level is a blatant rip-off of Metroid II. One of the faster paced GB titles I've seen, and it was short and thoroughly enjoyable (although I didn't notice the crippled type gait). This gets an easy yes from me, especially for the nifty acrobatics.

I can confirm that this run desyncs with the (U) ROM (Source: GoodNES 3.10). The character approaches the second boss, then automatically dies... hopefully it can be hexed to work for the rest of the movie. But if not, I wouldn't be adverse to publishing it due to the prior run using a bad ROM. Just make a note that any attempt to obsolete this one should use the (U) ROM, not the (o1) version.

This question has been asked and answered/debated several times on the forums. I think a few of the threads are in OT.
