The 16 star runs were a necessary step in the natural progression of SM64 runs, because it was the least stars needed. Now we don't need any. So I don't understand why people are so in love with such a contrived and arbitrary number. If you're going to ask for a new run between the 0 and 120 star runs, a 70 star run w/o using BLJ fits the mold perfectly. Only restricting one glitch is objective (as opposed to a "glitchless" run), and it would finish the game as originally intended. There would be plenty of areas for optimization in terms of route planning, and it is a nice middle ground. So I personally hope that 70 is the new 16.

I noticed that you made a strange jump at the final ladder in the first level. Your character zipped upwards through the ground very fast. Could you have used this trick in some other ladders too, to speed up the climbing?
Probably Not
Meaning it's very hard to do? Or you don't know what causes it and haven't tested the other ladders for the same effect?

Sorry, ol' buddy, this just didn't do it for me. The first 14,000 is the same fight being repeated over and over again, the action that is present only shows of 3 or 4 moves, and this game has to hold the record for the worst use of screen real estate ever. Really, a simple HP bar or number, a small compass, amount of gold you have and the "gems" in the gold ornamental things are the only ideas being represented, and they take up 80% of the screen. On the plus side, you did get to readjust some spines with a giant elephant, but overall I just found it boring.

As you said this is not J-version,what version it is? As the matter goes on,Please allowed me ask a question. There is a movie named "Dragon Lair(JAN)" on movie page,I can't find the J-version anywhere,I can only find the U-version,so don't you think it is Similar to this??
Dragon's Lair (J) exists. The fact is that GoodNES 3.10 shows three files: Lion King, The (E) [!], Lion King, The (Mapper 4) (Unl) [!], and Lion King, The (Mapper 182) (Unl). The Mapper 4 version seems to match the checksum of ROM that your movie was created with. I've never seen something labeled as Mapper before, so I'm unsure if that's the creator of a hacked version, or some sort of other category. As for the run, I've been unable to watch it because the Mapper 4 version causes FCEU to just show a blank grey screen for me (in both .28 and .15 versions). I'm unsure of what's causing this.

I see you have the aspirations to one day be tied down and raped by an old man. Interesting.
Since when did this thread turn into "Which video game character would you like to be?" Or maybe you're just projecting your hidden desires on me. Either way, I don't think Custer was old... ;)

I like the idea, but I agree that the goals are somewhat (unfortunately) vague. "Normal" route doesn't seem to be well defined, and the skip in Marble Zone 2 just seems... unfortunate, I guess. I actually have a larger problem with the "don't zip to the end of a level", because you used a small zip Labyrinth Zone 2(?), which seems to go against the spirit of your run. This is one of the few submissions that I would vote "yes" on, when asked if I enjoyed the movie, and "no" when asked if the movie should be published.

1. Even with all the goals taken into account it doesn't seem very optimal.
I don't entirely disagree with this, as it's the first run of it's kind, and the author didn't have *a lot* to compare it to. However, instead of a blanket statement, would you please provide some examples of suboptimal technique for future consideration? As for my vote, I guess the enjoyment based "yes" and the publish-worthy "no" meld into a meh.

I did watch it, it was just as boring as the previous submissions. This game in a nutshell: Run slow, shoot, run slow, shoot, jump awkwardly, run slow, shoot some more, jump awkwardly. Repeat for 6 minutes. If the previous movies had been rejected for being unoptimized, I wouldn't fault you for submitting again. But they were rejected for it being a bad game to TAS, as was explained twice. So how you can claim that I "don't have a reason within the movie to vote no" absolutely baffles me.

Vectorman, Kratos, Yoshi (only when in a kart), Auron (cripple fight!! from FFX), old school sonic (post spin-dash, but pre-sega Saturn games), Crono (how can I like a character who never says anything at all?), Rodney Mullen (does he not count, since he's a real person too?), Sparkster, Elvis (the alien, not the dead fat dude), and there's probably a lot more. EDIT: Forgot Link, Mileena, Spider-man and the retarded fluffy animals in Super Metroid.

Bad analogy: If an MIT graduate writes 4x4=15, you would probably correct the slight mistake. Chances are, they didn't take the time to look at what they were doing, and they should be grateful that you caught an otherwise silly error on their part. If a 2 year old writes 4x4=15, you could correct them, but you would probably actualize that they made the mistake out of ignorance, rather than laziness.
Continuing that analogy, how should we go about correcting an MIT graduate who acts like a 2 year old?

Please continue this:) I'm not sure if it would receive good feedback if submitted, but I would love to see it completed. If LR: The Legend Returns is ever TASable, I'll be one of the first ones to tackle it (loved that game).

As laggy as a 4 player NES run, but lovable anyways. I find it extremely hilarious that the game ends with "Try harder next time", and your movie description embedded in the file still says "version 2 - semi-optimized test", despite the fact that this is version 4. So I'll vote yes only as long as you try harder next time;)

Assuming you are referring to me with the "cowardly anti AKA people" remark, I will only respond by saying: I'm not anti-AKA. I'm anti- "retarded people who don't have any common sense or logical thought processes". You just happen to be included in that group.

That was a fun trip down memory lane, I totally forgot I had played this game before! Overall it's obviously very optimized, and very impressive for a first submission. I'm not sure, but you may be able to end input a little bit sooner on Dedede if you can get Kirby to bounce off him without falling down (see the final boss of my sonic spinball movie), but other than that idea, I couldn't see anything to improve on. Great job pirohiko, and welcome to TASvideos with a well deserved yes vote!

'Like the best' has several different connotations for me. I like the creativity I used in Wild Guns the best, the level of optimization in Sonic Spinball the best, and the pure enjoyment of watching Vectorman the best (although this will probably be replaced by Spiderman 3 soon enough).

So this game just says congratulations and keeps going? How gay. Also, I don't see the point of going through more rooms to get the same result. Showing an "easy" ways for normal people to beat the game is more for a Let's Play than a TAS. Voting no.
