Yeah, I was actually thinking of doing a Stunt Mode TAS too. Like 1 or 2 minutes, just for fun, without collecting icons. I'm not so familiar with this game, I never owned it... but if I understand correctly, I could have unlocked the obstacle course in 1 minute without using cheats by doing a simple 991 stunt and collecting all ten icons? That could have been a pretty cool bonus in the TAS, to make it a little longer. I wonder if a stunt mode TAS and my Obstacle course TAS could be hexedited together? Hexediting didn't seem to work so good when I tried for this game, but I also don't know much about hexediting. I submitted the Obstacle Course already btw.

Hmm, do you think I could submit this? I guess I could, even though it's just one course. The movie starts from a save state though... but obviously I was aiming for fastest in-game time here, so maybe it doesn't matter. I used Jabo's sound plugin for the sound, the sound doesn't work good with that when you're playing, but when you record the avi it sounds right. With the Zilmar plugin it works good when you're playing too.

I know that, I mean, why didn't you try to put 3 or 5 ZMG shots on some of the locks after putting one ZMG on each to save even more laser shots. 3 laser, 2 laser 1 ZMG, 1 laser 3 ZMG, or 5 ZMG. If you do 1 ZMG and 2 laser on all the locks the laser is the limiting factor and you have extra ZMG shots you can use. Or maybe you did, it's hard to tell.
yeah, i did do that actually. you can see it better if you watch the video frame by frame.

I made a TAS of the Obstacle course in Rush 2049 in 1:30.519: Link to video About 5000 rerecords, the beginning was pretty hard to get through without having to stop, I didn't think it would be possible at first, so I didn't do it, but later found out it was possible (but had to change tires to 'slick', but they didn't seem to be any slower than 'pro slick'), so I redid the beginning. I used death to get through the 5th obstacle faster. The WR on this level is 1.43.118, so it's about 13 seconds faster.

Nice job putting that to use. How were you able to change the crosshair position so fast? It seemed as if you were able to be aiming at two places at once.
I did it frame by frame.
I noticed after putting 1 shot on each lock with the ZMG it didn't seem like you used it to break the locks any faster, like doing 3 ZMG and 1 laser, or 5 ZMG
The locks need 3 lasers each, so since I shot 1 ZMG at them I only had to shoot 2 lasers on them, so it's about one third faster. I also shot one laser on one of the locks before killing the last guard, no one probably noticed, it's a little hard to see.

Train Agent 0:47 The first half of this is from an old TAS made by Wyster, I remade the ending using a weapon switch trick suggested by DaTeL237 (on the previous page). Just one frame under 48. Henrik had 50, so it saved quite a lot of time :) m64

Thanks, the save state started at Crash Site and synced until Pelagic 2, so if someone feels like it, they could continue the TAS from there. Pelagic 2 isn't really my favorite levels in the game, heh, and neither are some of the others like Attack ship. I uploaded the m64 on microstorage so it doesn't expire again: link

Oh, if it doesn't play from the beginning, I wonder if it can get accepted on tasvideos... but maybe there's someone who can get it to play. I think BKdj or whatever his name was got it to play from the beginning since he made an avi of the full wip. The bonus stages could be left out, yes, like it was done on Goldeneye. Duel would be a pain to unlock, heh.

Can someone reupload Wysters m64? The old links are dead. He stopped TASing after Crash Site. I make TASes of random levels sometimes, like this Defection Agent 5.48 (0.33s improvement of Wysters time), so I could help the progress slightly if I use his m64 if I happen to want to make Pelagic II PA TAS for some reason. There's only 9 levels left on his TAS (or 8, because Duel is so short anyway).

cool. is the speed in km/h? it went to over 20000 at one point in lava bowser 2 level. i'd want a ram address or something that shows speed for goldeneye... and there was a guy who found it... but i couldn't figure out how to use it.

I made a speedrun of the first level of this cool demo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zIAe5R48lfY edit: improved it by 1.6 seconds Link to video Try to beat my time. There's no hypershoe TV in the demo (or any other TVs for that matter), at least not yet.

that doesn't really suit for "crappy youtube videos"-thread because that's way cool... it looks much better than sonic 4, which is pretty strange because i thought real game development companies would be better at making games than fans..

It only happens when capturing. I've tried the frame buffer objects before, it didn't work. And i can't capture in full screen because i can't access the menus in full screen, and if i start capturing first and then try to go to full screen, mupen shuts down. Yeah, mupens internal capture is a little bad because it desyncs the audio for longer videos, but you can fix that by making 10 minute parts and then joining them together.

I still haven't solved this. I tried a few different HWFBE options in the plugin but they didn't have any effect either (I didn't know that HWFBE meant "hardware frame buffer emulation", so I didn't respond in a while). I post my settings, in case that helps to figure out the problem, but they should be pretty much default: And here's my nvidia settings: "PhysX GPU acceleration" (whatever that is) is enabled. Any ideas what could be the problem?

Yeah, I was just kidding, haha... there's a bug in the game which allows you to get into that room without the cutscene triggering, so you can throw knives on him and trigger it later :P

I found this secret cutscene in Perfect Dark: Link to video It's pretty gory, so that's probably why it was censored from the actual release.

i just started downloading the 2 hour TAS of this game, but i noticed on SDA that the unassisted run is faster so i guess this one is pretty outdated... how fast is the new run going to be approximately when it's finished? one hour, like ocarina of time?

Defection - Agent - 0:31 WR on this level is 6 seconds, but this is done without a glitch that makes you fall through the whole building/level. The best that has been done without TASing and glitching on this level is is 33.

I'm afraid I don't have a ready made clear-cut definition for you, but I'm sure you know exactly what I'm talking about. News articles like this can be read every week in British newspapers and hardly ever do any muftis, mullahs or imams say that they disagree. Islam has barbaric conventions and practices and they are part of mainstream Islam and most muslims and especially muslim clergymen seem to have no problem with them.
Media certainly does give the portrayal of Islam as something dangerous. Elsewhere I've read that it's just propaganda; the same type of propaganda that was used against Jews under WW1-2 and it is supposed to be a part of a plan towards WW3. The motive behind this is money and power. If everyone thinks Islam and muslims are dangerous, they will probably become dangerous too. I found an interesting prophecy from 1987 from a guy who claimed to be in contact with aliens. Many think is a complete fraud/nut, but this sounds surprisingly close to what is going on and what could happen soon: "And it will be that the fanatics of Islam will rise up against the countries of Europe and all will shake and quiver. Everything in the West will be destroyed; England will be conquered and thrown down to the lowest level of misery. And the fanatics and warriors of Islam will retain their power for a long time. However, not only Europe will be affected but ultimately all the countries and peoples of the Earth, as the great horror expands to a war that will encompass the entire world. After the turn of the millennium, the papacy will exist only a short period. Pope John Paul II is the third from last in this position. After him, only one additional pontificate will follow. Then a Pontifex Maximus follows who will be known as Petrus Romanus. Under his religious rule, the end of the Catholic Church will come, a total collapse becoming inevitable. That will be the beginning of the worst catastrophe that will ever have befallen the human beings and the Earth. Many Catholic clerics, priests, bishops, cardinals and many others will be killed and their blood will flow in streams. But also the reformed version of Christianity will become just as infinitely small, as does Catholicism." Another interesting quote from the same prophecy: "The destruction of the WTC, i.e., the World Trade Center, by terrorists will only be the beginning." -- Source: http://www.deepspace4.com/pages/prophecy/henoch/henoch2.htm These are pretty good predictions, coming from a guy who made fake UFOs from garbage can lids: http://forgetomori.com/2007/ufos/the-billy-meier-hoax-photographs/

00965974. It's for the normal mupen64. I posted an address for some other mupen (antidesync, v2 mupen, reset mupen or something) earlier. It's 00966984 but it didn't seem to work for Simons mupen64.

I made a real time speedrun "world record" on Perfect Dark, first level (Defection), Agent difficulty, without using a glitch that makes you fall through the whole level/building and complete it in 6 seconds. So this is 33 seconds: Link to video This doesn't count though because I did it with a special emulator that runs this game 60 FPS: http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8972 It's much easier to play when the game runs smoothly. Normally this level only runs about 20 FPS, so the framerate often causes you to mess up.

That isn't a good comparison. That run lasts less than three hours, while your run's length is double that. The length of your movie makes hard keeping it entertaining, which isn't a problem with the aforementioned TAS.
Yeah, that's a good point. But that's the way RPG games are: they are long. Some people like it, some people don't. If long TASes can't get accepted, does that mean we'll never see TASes like FFVII, FFVIII, FFX, which would be even longer than 6.5 hours?

I made a TAS of Jungle level with 007 Max Stats in 1:45: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MOC71kXndJg The best real time speedrun on this is 20 minutes and I think there's only one person who has beaten it (my bro). The headshot calculator address was pretty useful when shooting Xenia from afar, and through the tree (used some wireframe there too, but it wasn't that useful because you can't see that clearly). It took a lot of frame advance. It's easier to just go near her to get headshots. 1700 rerecords. Took about 7 hours to make.

i think it already is sub 5 minutes, because the intro doesn't count, because there's no gameplay there. it beats the game in 4 minutes if you exclude the intro. ridiculously fast.

So there is a glitch that could save HOURS on this TAS. How does avoiding increase the entertainment value? (This is a serious non-rhetorical question that I hope the author and others attempt to answer)
I answered it here: http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=248633&highlight=#248633 It takes away a lot of stuff from the game. It's like if there's a glitch that saves hours of time in Ocarina of Time... it skips a lot of the game, so there's room for a "all quests/dungeons" TAS. Another example is the "warpless" Castlevania TASes for GBA: 1, 2. In Flashback there's also a glitch that saves a lot of time (run through walls), but I think it would be interesting to see the game without that glitch, because it skips so much from the game.
Mitsuja wrote:
the other thing you should note is that it doesn't use the gold password to transfer max stats over from the previous game which would no doubt be a vast time saver late on.
Personally, I don't think that should be done... I mean, isn't it kinda like starting a game using cheats? The fights would become boring because they would require less strategy.
So while publishing wouldn't be quite as bad as something on the scale of this.
Hm... that Ocarina of time run was 100 times more optimized than this run (a realistic number based on the amount of rerecordings), so even though this is my own TAS I have to say that publishing this would be much worse than that.
