So, I watched the encode, and overall, While the Boss Battles weren't as interesting as usually, I liked the run. It was new, fresh and interesting enough for me to give it a yes.

AngerFist and I will pick up the ball on this one. For now, we're still trying to settle the real-time versus game-time debacle. To add some more fuel to this debate, I made a run of that same segment pausing only once. Link to video This strategy is much faster for real-time than the heavy pausing in the teaser video. For in-game time, it's .7 seconds slower. It still shaves almost 2 full seconds of the game clock. But despite that, since switching weapons takes almost 2 seconds, it is roughly the exact same speed as a buster only real-time run of the same segment. Thoughts?
Far more watchable to me, as the Ratio between Pausing and actual gameplay is far more on the Gameplay side. Since ultimately, every other run is judged by real time, with ingame time a secondary goal at best, I don't see why MM9 should get an exception. I assume you'll go for Concrete Man first to get access to his weapon sooner. What I think some planning will need to go into is wether to pause for recharging the weapon or not. Anyway, I'm really looking forward to a run

You're an egg. Later you're a bird. Get it here. A freeware Game Maker game with a big Metroidvania-esque map where you find upgrades, health-powerups and fight tons of bosses. It has more of a platforming element to it than most Metroidvanias. You can teleport between save points once you have the ability. Later in the game, you need to collect a certain amount of Gold thingamajigs that open the door to the final area. The higher the difficulty, the more of those you need, so you see more of the game. In addition, the highest difficulty kills you in one hit. There aren't any crazy damage boosts, but health management may be interesting as well. I haven't yet tried out to see if it works in hourglass. What do you think?

I especially enjoy how the game utilizes the Genesis' fullest potential to go far beyond the bounds of what the NES ever could do. As for the run, it was simple but short enough not to get boring. Voting yes.

Wow, the run was seriously great. The new route was far more interesting and didn't have all the boring Quest-abuse of the previous one. Also, the multiple hit glitch makes the movie a lot faster and smoother. I'd like to know more about it. Total thumbs up, yes vote, and here's hoping for a full warpless submission someday.
Unfortunately, the quest-abuse is still very advantageous in a NOOB (No Out-Of-Bounds) TAS and thus will be used in my run, unless I can figure out a better alternative (I need Magic Tickets, and to release VK would cost more time). EDIT: However, I'd like to ask a question: Could it be made faster if the author had grind some other lesser enemies rather than hunt down the slimy boss as in this movie?
I think he kills it to obtain the double jump. As for your run, woo, I didn't know about that, I'm excited now. I don't care so much about the abuse in a full movie, as the ratio of actual gameplay to boring old menu/warping/resetting stuff is far better.

I'm for that idea as well. Because we can never have too many award-type categorizations here.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QgtumdgjiTk I made a full TAS, so I thought I'd share as well. Unoptimized. At 2:05 in the video, I tried climbing the vine and boosting over to the ledge with the door. I came soooooo close (like 1 or 2 pixels) but eventually I gave up. Just throwing that out there incase anyone decides to improve upon this or something.
Wow, this completely blows my attempt out of the water. Just remember you can use the bird to kill bosses faster.

That was the level where you had to fly into a hole in the ceiling and knock out all the munchers with a shell, right? A shame because I considered it much more entertaining that way. Still, great Find right there.

WIP up to level 2, still as unoptimized For bosses, the little bird thing is a huge help, but recording 2 players at a time is a massive pain. Any way to remedy this?

A homebrew NES game in developement. Get the Demo here The game's about punching bats. You get a boxing glove for that which you can also use to boost yourself off walls (even moreso with powerups you can find). With its smooth gameplay and room for tricks and so on, I think it might make an excellent TAS. You also get a little bird companion thing you can control with the second controller which may also come in handy. Here's a small, unoptimized wip of the Demo up to level 1.

I've had much the same problem. I solved this by... not using Savestates alltogether. Yeah, you'll get used to exclusively using reverse.

scrimeh: 2. where are the "a few places"?
In any Stage where you face the boss with enough health to take another hit. Then again, I can't really a place where it would really have helped, so never mind that.

Watched the encode (thanks, fsvgm), and I must say, I really liked this run. For the most part, the action was nicely fluent and the boss fights were smooth. A few things though: 1.Why did you walk down a few ledges instead of jumping from them? 2.Could you have managed damage a bit better to avoid waiting in a few places? Still, the run was very good, so I'll vote yes.

A freeware MSX game that is rather similar to Vampire Killer but plays a lot smoother. I might just do a TAS of it in the near future. Complete Map curtosey of msxsolutions

I would not be so sure, I can't stand playing Crysis 2 on Xbox just because of lag.
Of course it depends on the game. Mega Man 10 obviously does not lag.
