Well, would the game reach the credits if you shorten parts of the input? If so, sure I guess?
By a few frames. But my last inputs are at around 10:13 when you see Luigi's total portraits and gold summed up. edit: went back and checked, I do stop input as soon as King Boo 'POP' occurs [Frame 30531] (anything after that was just for cutscene texts).

Well, I think one or two of the Castlevania runs also start with SRAM to skip beginning cutscene/tutorials, so I guess it's alright. One thing I got to ask is that were the pauses OoB needed? I thought they were only used in RTS as a frame buffer or something. Also, using the mirror warp is slower? Huh. Yes vote. Edit: Also, time ends at last input, not when King Boo dies. :P
There is only one pause that I do in Out of Bounds, which is not to pause buffer, but to switch back to standard walking(for luigi's legs and torso to move in the same direction pushing him over the wall). You'll see no pause buffering when hitting bats which is when console runners use pause buffering to get positions correctly. Mirror warp was shown to be slower by around a second in someone else's video. Although I did not personally test that alternative. Link to video "time ends at last input" Well stinkers haha.. I'm not so sure about the decision to use NewGame+. Just because the console runners do it doesn't mean that it's an appropriate choice for a TAS. Other than that, this looks like Skewigi's Mansion done right! Yes vote.
You can watch my verification movie file, vacuuming takes twice as many frames for each ghost and there is also the tutorial area. I just figured it would be nice to compare with console runners and easier 'watchability'.

Get in! Someone encode this please. Although, for a 3-D game, the rerecord density is very low... is the rerecord count accurate?
No every other day I used a new file which was a rookie mistake. it should be near 80,000 rerecords from the past two months. Videos up! my apologies, tas staff, I didn't put your logo in the beginning

Ah!!! :P Edit: BTW: time completion and rerecounts is wrong. but that's what I get for creating a new movie file each time lol. Time Completion is said in my submission, 8:28.52 and rerecords is more around 80,000.

Thanks for that info... So... When EXACTLY do I unlock a track, when I beat it or just entering the track?
just entering the track. They don't necessarily need to be completed. Completing them allows you to use different vehicles with a few exceptions. Go for a time of 50 minutes or less. The Out of Bounds glitch in Hot Top Volcano, do it during the trophy race, as you can skip a lot of courses. Can the game be beaten with 4 or 10 balloons maybe?
Coming in at a random time, can't you beat the game with zero balloons by glitching under the lighthouse? Is that what were talking about?

Stuff on land and boat wouldn't be too hard, but once you're in the air that's when its difficult.

The glitch with the King Boo's crown did work?
Didn't try it on US version. My Japanese save file doesn't work. So I'm leaving it as is without a crown theft. If someone discovers a way on US or wants to translate my US to JAP and republish, go for it lol. Not that I'm bored with Luigi's mansion, its just a hard time stitching files together and all. I'm trying to go back and re edit some areas to be more appealing to the viewers but little tweaks change game mechanics(like candles)

Its optimized more than yosh1's well-done version. There could be some single frame improvements here and there. The skew glitch area can hold lots of mysteries, someone in the future could speed this up. After encoding, I found that king boo vacuuming has about 20 extra frames, I'm unsure if they are necessary or fixable but I'll check. Before I go back to fix king boo, there is probably only one path that's unoptimized and that would be the one in skew zone before falling through the floor. Also I think you guys nay like Chauncey's fight! I mess with his ground stomps a bit lol.

Five more main areas, each room will take me a few hours. Since they're just boss ghosts I don't have to deal with any double ghost troubles.

Link to video Start up times are different due to dolphin 4.0.2 vs 3.5. but when spliced by room im always a frame to 3 frames ahead, there are times that YOSH1 is still faster at but I worked all day yesterday getting wardrobe to where it is. Including the last pair of green/orange ghosts, which I somehow was able to captured the green ghost in 20 frames without a wall. (as well as the first of the double orange ghosts in 18-19 frames)

Wait, do you mean the japanese version won't save the input file or the save file? Because for the former, you should report the bug to the dolphin devs. For the latter, it could be a faulty iso or dolphin bug.
Latter if either,Faulty on my part I think.

Maybe try #tasvideos, dunno if case-sensitive. and just make sure you send me whatever the bizhawk movie file for n64 is and the settings/plugins you use to TAS with. and I'll have an encode up as fast as I can run it and encode with Premiere Pro.

slowly working.. I may have a video up when I finish the Parlor Room. I took what YOSH1 said and started working on the improved version. I'm still using USA because speed of text seems the same and for some reason, japanese version wont make a memcard savestate for me to start recording from power-on. I can use YOSH1's memcard but I would need a first playthrough to go with it for verification. SO im sticking to USA. Optimized parlor vacuuming from YOSH1's version. Im at school but I believe Im two frames ahead, first ghost capture takes 22 frames. trying to figure out how to hit that 21 frame perfection on capturing.

[edited] text speed is the same in japanese and USA on dolphin 4.0.2 at least for the parlor room cutscene.

If only that DTM reader was updated to edit frames and see all the frames with commands listed out, would make it easier to deal with bigger movies
