Enjoy some RRfJ action, mixed with some mildly funny engrish! This is my first sub-10m run. I've been noticing that my runs tend to lean towards the long side, so this short and fun TAS seemed right.
  • Takes no damage

Tricks used:

Enemy Bounce - Used to climb faster, while not really a 'trick' it requires manipulation to get enemies where you want them to be.
Enemy Stun - while an enemy is flashing due to damage, it won't cause you damage. Used to run past tongue enemies in Levels 1 and 3.
Start Level invincibility - Used in climbing stages to bounce off the middle of enemies.

Level 1

This is the epitome of RRfJ. You have to collect each key to open the door. The 2nd and 3rd key, I use the damage trick to run by the enemies. The Skeleton's hit-boxes allow for you to stand between the head and the sword, so I was able to beat him without moving.

Level 2

I don't think this game is worthy of a TAS without the climbing levels. They allow for some creativity, as you have to coordinate jumps with enemy motion. The boss has two attacks, the first shooting out projectiles, and the 2nd being a flame. The game was programmed poorly, as the flame doesn't actually do damage, thus, I stand there, get burned, and attack like mad, boss goes down in a single round.

Level 3

I pick up gold orbs and shields in this level. Also, the bridge falls apart, so I jump to save time. Also, in the tight hallway, the door won't open fast enough to avoid the tongue enemy, thus, I step back, let the barrier deal damage, and walk through the enemy. The boss is only vulnerable when his mouth is open, but still goes down fairly quick.

Level 4

Another fun climbing level, done in a few seconds. This boss is a pain, because I have to wait for him to appear, and his hit-availability time is very short. I still managed to kill both in 3 rounds

Level 5

The dungeon is by far my favorite level, due to the three opening tricks of positioning enemies to bounce off. The second bounce is especially fun, as the enemy is hit back into midair, and then I bounce off him to reach the door. The boss is vulnerable once he steps forward. Sadly, firing fast is the best way to beat him.

Level 6

I manipulate the enemies to chase me, so they are in position to be bounced off of to reach that first platform. Also, this level is much more difficult in real-time, as the enemies near the end shoot a ton of crap at you. I move fast enough, you never see this.

Final Boss

This guy is dumb. You can stand right next to the orb, and just barely not get hit by the hands. I beat this boss so fast, his hands glitch and turn into princesses.

GabCM: Replaced YouTube module for higher quality.
DarkKobold: Updated submission with a file that is ~6 seconds faster. Please don't kill me GabCM.
Flygon: Removed YouTube module. Letting someone else reencode it... I can't seem to dump it, even with using the frame advance trick.
GabCM: I've replaced the YouTube module again with a new encode based on that new submission. DarkKobold, next time you replace the submission file, I kill you (just kidding).
Truncated: I'm gonna try out this claimed for encoding thing...
Truncated: The levels seem pretty simple as people have said, the bosses on the other hand look difficult (especially since you die from one hit). I like the rapid-firing and the parts with bouncing up the hills, so why not. I'll accept it.
Speaking of one hit kills, maybe this should be listed as no death instead of no damage.
GabCM: Alright! Let's go!

How hard is this game in real time? Aside from some clever enemy bouncing it seemed pretty simple.

This ended up being fairly amusing. The hero gets some fairly cool attack powers. The speed is good. The vertical segments are more interesting to watch. The Engrish is pretty funny. And the main character always has this confused look on his face. All this amounts to a Yes vote. Good job! Just one question, though. At the end of Stage 5 (I think), just before the boss, you bounce off of a blue wizard to get over a pillar. It takes a little while for the wizard to get there. Wouldn't it be faster to shoot out the dirt in the wall to your left and hop up there first?
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. I tried, and it seemed impossible to do - 1 pixel back, you hit your head. 1 pixel forward, and you fall off.
