Hell yeah! Baby Moses framewars!

This TAS improves on Aqfaq's movie by 40 frames or 0.66 seconds due to general optimization and a new trick in level 4.
  • Used Gens 11a
  • Abuses a glitch
  • Completes a piece of crap
Enjoy!

I totally pretended that I could tell how much better optimized the general play was, and the level 4 trick was amazing. Seven yes votes.

Nice, thanks! The walking on (under?) water bit was interesting. So now the question is can anything else be done to get this below 2 minutes? :) A.C. ******

Very nice! I like the pickup of the baby in stages 3 and 4. However, there's just one small problem: This is supposed to be the story of Moses, not Jesus. Moses is known for parting the sea, not walking on it! Yes vote.
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. If I could vote anymore, it would be "No" for the same reason I wrote on Aqfaq's submission wall. Poor, poor game choice. It's much better suited for a regular speedrun, and it's wholly unentertaining. And just like I said before, I might consider thinking about it if you TASed the whole game and not just this one crappy minigame.
If at first you don't succeed, load your savestate and try again

Wait, we have another submission of this now? Great. The last thing we need is framewarring over lousy games again. (Raise your hand if Battle Chess causes you fear...) My [post 274841]earlier reasoning[/post] applies, and I vote no.

What if they find even more timesavers in this game?

Weird, my previous post disappeared for no reason, there might be a problem with the database. However, I voted yes because I liked the improvement over the other movie, since the new trick is quite cool, and this submission looks definitely more optimised.

This submission may be faster than the first one, but the game is still not entertaining and the music is still awful. Voting no.

I'm going to be very disappointed if we don't have about 8 more submissions of this game. Ideally it can approach SM64 levels of optimization. I think that'd be a good way to spend our time. Yes vote again for Moses' mother getting all New Testament and having more faith than Peter. I agree that this game is pretty basic and not very interesting to run, but it is short enough that I can enjoy it, if only for the laughs. It's a shame we don't have a "lols" category for submissions... but I guess if we can't publish colored dinosaurs, this will go down in like form.
I will not use self-reference in my signature.

I couldn't finish watching this. Even 2 minutes seem too long. NO for the game choice.
Warning: When making decisions, I try to collect as much data as possible before actually deciding. I try to abstract away and see the principles behind real world events and people's opinions. I try to generalize them and turn into something clear and reusable. I hate depending on unpredictable and having to make lottery guesses. Any problem can be solved by systems thinking and acting.

IMO this movie is more interesting than many other published runs. (It certainly helps that it's short.) I really don't understand what people are complaining about. I voted yes.

This does not look like a tas, pretty bad game choice and therefore I have to vote no.

Well, I was actually extremely amused for this. Not sure I could take more than 4 or 5 minutes of it, but at 2 minutes, it feels great. This gets a yes vote from me.

I'm curious to know what your argumentation is. The gameplay is fluid and flawless, there are many close calls and at least one glitch exploitation. Looks like a quite typical TAS to me. Granted, it might be that with enough practice someone could achieve something close to this via regular play. However, that's no excuse to reject the TAS. Note that for example the unassisted record of SMB is just a few seconds longer than the TAS (which is a minuscule amount when the run is 5 minutes long). Yet that's not grounds for rejection. I'm sure that with a bit of work we could find at least a few other published runs which are similar to this (besides SMB, of course).

Voting yes because the game is terrible is the same as voting no because the game is terrible. Who cares about the game? Rate the video. This TAS, while executed well, isn't that fun to watch. Given the style of gameplay it's probably about as good as it'll ever get though. Meh vote.
