I don't think the pause buffer helps the glitch work, it's just to make it possible for RTA players to do consistently.
Try without pause buffer.
Oh I see I thought pause buffering meant it was doing a miscalculation due to pausing while getting hit and trying to move.
I'll try this tomorrow if I get a chance! Then I'll figure out why I can never land out of bounds to book's basement

crown theft is jpn only and you're doing a great job BTW,so you should consider using the jpn ISO

It is widely done on streams by many console runners but only on JPN version.I have never seen it on english version at all.

As you can see in this video, when you do crown theft the game doesn't roll the ending cutscene like it does if you beat King Boo normally.

It counts as beating King Boo but the game doesn't think it counts as beating the game. So it's not useful for a 'beat the game' category.

Did you use the glitch of the crown of king Boo?
No since I'm on USA and as stated above it wouldn't roll credits.
Is it possible to simultaneously suck in both King Boo and execute the crown glitch on the same frame? Maybe that can save some time.
When boo gets to zero, I believe (at work right now) that the boo changes animation so its only the boo ghost you're sucking in.
Possibly could work in Japanese.. Maybe I'll do some testing if I ever get around to doing a Japanese tas with crown theft.
