The objective in this shooter game is to destroy your opponent on the other side of the field, by shooting at him. You can only move horizontally and you can only have 2 active shots simultaneously on the screen (which is why I shoot a pair of beams, then another pair etc.). There are different kinds of objects flying between you and your opponent blocking or reflecting your shots. There are 4 mandatory worlds to reach the staff credits, and each world has 4 levels, the final world has 8 levels.
This sketch shows which powerups appear in which levels. The only useful powerup is the (P) item which makes your shots stronger. Taking damage saves time because it reduces lag in some places, but wasn't done since I think it looks better this way.
  • Forgoes time-saving death
  • Forgoes time-saving damage
  • Genre: Shooter
Emulator: VBA-24-m
When I first tried to TAS this game, I was having a hard time with luck-manipulation and lag reduction. At that time, I was just TASing this game out of boredom and stopped after the first world. This time I partially figured out how luck works. Address C169 changes every frame and is called every now and then to determine the enemy's pattern and other things. It runs even during lagframes (and pauses) so creating lag, reducing lag or pausing changes the enemy movement. Rather than trying to save every frame possible I was just trying to find a good way to kill the enemy ship quickly over and over to save me some time and sanity and to still create a pleasant TAS.
Hope you enjoy it.

DarkKobold:Judging

DarkKobold: While the TAS appears well played and well planned, the end result is a pretty resounding meh. The game in question is an autoscroller that rarely scrolls, making this an all around bad game choice. Rejecting.

adelikat: Unrejecting and accepting for publication to the Vault

mugg: Canceled. Reasons withheld.

mugg: Uncanceled.

Nach: Since this has been uncanceled, I am reinstating adelikat's acceptance.

Spikestuff: Publishing! takes the fossil and runs

Voting Meh due to game choice. It's nicely done and seems optimized but the game itself is kind of slow and repetitive making it boring to watch... just my opinion though.

I also agree. If it was a shorter movie with the same entertainment level, I might vote yes, but the movie is almost 10 minutes long and it is slow-paced and repetitive. Voting Meh.

It's a shooter where the level doesn't even scroll most of the time. And when the stages all equal to "shoot so that the opponent runs into the shot while not getting hit yourself" it isn't very interesting either. It looks like a decent game, but it has little merit for a tas.

I thought the enemy manipulation was really nice here. My vote is yes.

I didn't watch this before the original verdict, but I must say, I did enjoy this TAS. I wouldn't call it an autoscroller at all, it is more like non-stop boss fights. Looked like it took a good amount of work and strategy. Late yes vote.
It's hard to look this good. My TAS projects

To answer the poll's question, yes, it should be published. It's still a Meh for entertainment though.

Uh...that's a reason to vote Yes? What if the run was horribly unoptimized?

Just came across this topic again. I was being a fool some years ago so I'm going to ask can this be uncanceled and re-accepted?

Uncancelling is something you can do yourself, since you were the one who cancelled it in the first place. As for re-accepting, sure, I guess - considering it already has been accepted to Vault once before, and it does look like it still fulfills the minimum criteria for the Vault. A judge will still need to take a look at it though.
http://www.youtube.com/Noxxa <dwangoAC> This is a TAS (...). Not suitable for all audiences. May cause undesirable side-effects. May contain emulator abuse. Emulator may be abusive. This product contains glitches known to the state of California to cause egg defects. <Masterjun> I'm just a guy arranging bits in a sequence which could potentially amuse other people looking at these bits <adelikat> In Oregon Trail, I sacrificed my own family to save time. In Star trek, I killed helpless comrades in escape pods to save time. Here, I kill my allies to save time. I think I need help.

I'm glad you uncancelled this, MUGG. Watching it again with it being publishable in mind, it's clear this run has pretty high technical quality. It's a cool idea for a game too; I hope it gets remade for a much newer console someday.
