-FCE Ultra emulation
-No warps, passwords, or glitches
-No damage or deaths
-100% kills-ish
-I making a speed run of Jaws, it was necessary to kill the enemies fast, as if you don't kill an enemy quickly, he'll simply swim off the screen and reappear from the other side a level up. Each underwater encounter lasts, at minimum, as the enemies are alive, so the faster the dispatch, the better. It is a short game with no plot, and as such, it's hard to make this anything other than a "guy playing the game and making it look easy" type of movie, but at least it's short (4 minutes-ish). Oh, and it is easy.
-Here's were the suggestions after the first submission:
1) Kill Jaws quicker: Done - about 14 seconds quicker. This is the only time saved in the video.
2) Get all the shells necessary from the first encounter underwater: Not possible - It doesn't seem like this level of luck can be manipulated. It will first give you crabs as much as possible before even thinking about giving a multitude of shells. I need 13 to finish the game with a power level of 3 (the minimum required level to defeat Jaws in one encounter) and I can't get that in the first underwater sequence. And unfortunately, the bonus stage can't be avoided after the second. Thus, I predict the game optimized.

I do not know if this movie could of been improved through usage of luck minipulation, but I found the movie to be very entertaining. I voted yes, because I found this movie to be rather enjoyable, and well made. also, I did not have the correct rom, but there was no desyncs.

I liked this, myself. Always wondered what the proper technique/distance was for killing Jaws at the very end...I randomly did it once, and could never do it again.

Well to kill jaws just do the strobe when he is at the last line of water and wait till his belly (white part) faces you and then hit him with the bow of the boat. Either way, I downloaded the video but am having trouble playing the video (same issue with karate kid actually) Does anybody know why this is happening. Windows Media player just crashes on me, and even divx player won't load it. EDIT: I got MPlayer and they play fine in that, so nevermind about that. But is there any way to get these to play in any windows based player comparable to media player?

Odd - they all play in my media player. Perhaps you need to update your version or maybe grab a different DivX program.

I'm just posting to say a good friend of mine is on the verge of beating the time of this run, on a console! No glitches or warps. (I know I know, they are entirely different mediums of play, but still that is quite a feat!)

I think this run could be improved A LOT (I've actually tested it) with better precision and way better luck manipulation.

hehe flattered but, no. I'm not Andrew Mills ( a quick google search showed me this person is quite the player! ) My name is Keith but people call me Mills, it's my middle name. Been coming to this site for a very long time actually. "I think this run could be improved A LOT (I've actually tested it) with better precision and way better luck manipulation." Not only that but an entirely different strategy is implemented in which the submarine is found very quickly and used to kill jaws alot faster!

Hello, Mr Boyfriend. Ziplock has not been around for a length of time now, but post your findings here (or in a Jaws thread in NES forum) and people will most likely be interested.

Contrary to what common opinion would have you believe, I am not homosexual. Guybrush got it right. To kareshi, we're still waiting for the Jaws info that would help us (whoever is willing) improve this.

I've since beaten this time by 5 seconds. I'm holding off on talking strategy until I think I've done the best I can.

update and possible breakthrough, sub 4 minute is a possibility on console with some crazy new luck manipulating maneuvers, more to come!

I recently got 4:04 on a console, that's 15 seconds faster than this TAS. I'm positive I could have gotten at least 3:59 with a better Jaws fight. As it turns out, my live speedrun follows the outline of the TAS, and just plays it better. 1st Encounter 2nd Encounter Bonus Scene Avoid the 3rd Encounter by tricky boat manuvering Get the Receiver Get the minisub Power up to 2 Power up to 3 Fight Jaws Stab Jaws Once I get 3:59 or under I'll post some videos. If anybody is SERIOUS about making a new Jaws TAS, then hit me up on AIM at Mozart2507

I'd be interesting in making the TAS of this. When you are ready, I'd like to see a vid of your speed run :)
It's hard to look this good. My TAS projects
