You shouldn't compare Spezzafer's movie to SDA movies, you know how some of them get. On a more serious note, this movie crushes all SDA times, but there's also a very good reason for that. Also, Spezzafer is doing the extra levels after Bowser's defeated, there was a one frame gap between game finish and stage finish or something like that, so that it would be possible to quit the stage. I don't know about that one though.

Yeah, that's right. At least someone said so in the other YI thread. The plan is to exit 6-8 right after defeating Bowser so you can do 6-E as well without having to restart. After that you can do the other extras as well.

Is Bowsers castle going to be completed twice then, just so it has a definite end point?

Well, if the gap's bigger than one frame, make sure to find out! You wouldn't want to waste time there.

I have a better idea than a 100% TAS. Make it a 100% demonstration. Do it fancy, and make it look awesome, like Neo Yoshi. Hell, if someone could make a hack, we could give all the Yoshis sunglasses and black trenchcoats, just for effect. :P I can't wait until this gets submitted. Either way, speedrun or showoff-fest, it'll be awesome to see. Good luck! :D

Oh My God! This is exactly what tas videos are supposed to look like! I am in love with this tas and hope to see it continue. I patiently await world four, since I know something of this quality must take some time. I LOVE the trick you used on the 3-8 boss, I've never seen anything like that before! I hope that this movie turns into a star movie, its perfect for that kind of thing. <3 spezzafer

You've never watched the TAS? It's even on the screen shot. Anyway, this is definitely my favorite TAS of all time. Can't wait to see more. The constant egg juggling and bouncing them off walls is awesome. You truly are a great TASer.

Goodness, spezzafer. After already making one run for this game, I'd expect you to go lazy on the entertaining department, but this one just gets better and better as you watch. I admire you for the runs you choose to make. If I'm not mistaken, this 100% run is on par with your previous run in terms of re-records. All the best to you.

This supernatural efficiency in getting 100% won't leave a chance for the current any% run to be starred anymore once this one is published -- without any sufficient slowdown, it becomes about twice as actionpacked and efficient opposed to the conventional playthrough. Definitely, one of the best examples of an effective tool-assistance, and quite pleasing to watch for a newcomer.

Spezzafer, that was nothing short of amazing.

Absolutely, it's extremely precise and fast, but you still can follow what's happening.

*joins the chorus of spezzafer worship* It's like this game was made to TAS for entertainment. I almost can't keep track of what's going on sometimes. Sweet job, man. Keep up the good work!

This is the most amazing run in the world...YI was the first run I ever saw TAS'd (linked from the SDA discussion) and it is my favorite of all time (although it may be outclassed by the 120 star m64 run when it comes out) This 100% run is 10x better than both of those though. Keep up the good work, it's amazing...

That is to say, is anyone still working on this? A shame to see it go to waste...

Not to bump this or anything, but is this still happening? Or has it turned into another really cool idea but never getting done one?

I think I did a pretty awesome job for what I accomplished so far on SDA. My 1-1 100% is only 7 seconds behind Spezzafer's, and that's only because I can't manage to get stars 20-25 without lagging my SNES, so I have to purposely flutter kick slowly towards it, losing 1.5-2 seconds. But that's all irrelevant. Spezz, I still want to do a 100% SS, but I'd rather wait to see what you reveal that can be done. Um, I did do 100%'s of levels you haven't yet (World 4-6) that should be up on SDA within 3 weeks at worst; I look forward to destroying my own times with new techniques you reveal. ;)

You're gonna have to remember that he starts each level with eggs, while SDA prohibits that... Well, for single levels anyway, for an SS it would be fine I suppose.

Is Spezzafer still working on this? This looks fantastic so far. I would really like to see some more work on it.

Assuming Spezzafer is not working on this I might want to take a shot at it... SMW2 was one of the games I first played on an emulator, and I have patience for 100% runs and such... although the any% was 1:38, so the 100% is going to be a very long movie. If so, I'm going to have to do a hell of a lot of test runs and research, I cannot start a TAS on my own, I'd need to watch the any%, read walkthroughs and study the SDA levels so I know how to get 100%. (My DKC2 I had to refer to the SDA 102% run because I only had 98% of everything memorized.) But does anyone know if Spezzafer hasn't given up?

It's been discontinued indefinitely. I no longer have any more patience to work on this, but don't let that discourage you to do it yourself. I guess I should have taken more/longer breaks between records. Thanks for all of the feedback everone's given, it's definitely helped in getting as far as I have. Feel free to continue my run, unless you'd rather start your own which is okay by me either way. If you have any questions regarding certain tricks I have used just ask away. You can see the list of tricks and descriptions right here. I stopped halfway through 4-3 before I quit. This was the latest progress. Good luck.

I am so ambivalent after watching half of that WIP. I'd love to work on this, but I don't know if I can. Some of this looks similar to coin-planning routes, which I know I can't do. I can do 100% runs but I need a fully completed run to look at, for reference and to learn. And I'm doubtful if I can do this game justice. I would have to start from scratch, the SNES Dracula X had a similar situation of a different player completing the run, and it losing popularity because of it. And even though I exclusive use Frame Advance, there are some maneuvers and playing speeds that I know I won't be able to replicate without months of practice. And this game is the best for showing off, something I'm good at but I'm not sure for this calibre of action. So while I'd love to work on this, and would be an amazing run under my belt if successfully completed, I still have to do a little more consideration before I decide whether or not my determination can handle this incredibly daunting run. I know that if I can do it I will, I do have 3 1/2 years of free time ahead of me

Don't forget that there's SDA, probably the best source to learn from if the complete TAS for some reason isn't at hand.
