Nitrodon successfully completed the game without 2,4,6,8. This is great news if we hope to beat the mark of 20 minutes. I thought I would post what I think is the best route. Its fairly obvious but this might be a good reference
g,o,p,i=1e4,a[10001];main(x){for(;p?g=g/x*p+a[p]*i+2*!o: 53^(printf("%.4d",o+g/i),p=i,o=g%i);a[p--]=g%x)x=p*2-1;}

Nitrodon has also issued a challenge (http://withinadeepforest.ni2.se/forum/viewtopic.php?t=126) which I can't believe I just finished. Everyone should try to do this, it's pure insanity. If you do Nitrodon's challenge without doing mine, you should do mine, too, because getting balls 6 and 8 without balls 2 and 4 is not trivial :) .

I got 33:20.32 skipping 2468, a minute behind Nitrodon. I seem much less consistant with corner hop when I'm under pressure. Also I have updated the route and tried to beautify it since JXQ pointed out it was the worst map ever. Or scroll up for new map, now its the only the second worst map because the old version was worse.
g,o,p,i=1e4,a[10001];main(x){for(;p?g=g/x*p+a[p]*i+2*!o: 53^(printf("%.4d",o+g/i),p=i,o=g%i);a[p--]=g%x)x=p*2-1;}

My 32:18.22 was sloppy throughout (except the Shadowlands) and was mainly to show that the skip was viable in a speedrun. I did a version that wasn't as sloppy and got a time of 21:29.52, 45 seconds behind Nifflas.

could any of you, masters of this game, please record a speedrun of it ? the game does not seem very resource-consuming, so external programs such as fraps or camtasia, or whatever solution you prefer, could probably be used along the run.

Haha, I'd be happy to, but my play is pretty poor in most places. I'm better at thinking up strategies than I am at actually executing them. Nitrodon could doubtless record a movie worth watching, though.

Is there a consistend way of doing the corner glitch or do you just have to keep trying until you get better at luck?

P.S. Nitrodon if you are loathe to divulge the "inside corner glitch next to a 1-high platform" trick, I'm sure other people have figured it out >< .

Well, if you are falling onto a corner, you just have to hit it in the right spot. It's not even necessary to be pressing a direction key for certain corners the first time you hit them. If you can nustle up next to a 1-high platform, you can make it so you are standing on the ground, but if you bounce up, you will bounce onto the platform, and seemingly at random, will sometimes fall back down again. It's easy to inside corner glitch these, and luckily, three of the four jumps you need in the -2/4/6/8 run can use this technique. Unfortunately, you still need to do two outside corner glitches, one for a jump and one for a fall.

For an outside corner, I generally line up my fall just outside the corner, then press toward the corner shortly before I hit it. I've never intentionally done the glitch on an inside corner, but I imagine a similar method would apply. My method appears to give me some amount of consistency, as I broke the glass ball fewer than 20 times in my run.

Well, for the inside corner glitch next to a one high platform, you don't have to press any directional keys at all.

That sounds like a good method, I'll try to incorperate it next time I play, btw new best time: 15:34.08

Hey flagitious, if you want your maps to be not the worst, try to imitate some of mine. Except with balls and not marios. And be original. I contradicted myself.

Lol, Flagitious, looks like Nifflas didn't take kindly to the hoverball spam bug ... he deleted your topic!

Hmm yes first he deleted it and messaged me that he does not want people to know about it, but then I got another message saying he has decided to allow all glitches. So I'm not sure what to think because the topic is still gone and my times removed. If I do it again, I'll try to record, but I'll need to use another computer because the one I play on now isn't very fast. Edit: Hmm it seems he deleted Nitrodon's time too, either he didn't like the glass ball glitch or he thought you must have used hover glitch too, sorry if its the latter

Nifflas moved all of the times which involve skipping balls to the Glitchrun category, or at least the ones he knew about. This includes some runs that only skipped 4, not requiring any glitching.

Ok thanks. BTW xebra, can you give me a location and a jump sequence for that inside corner glitch thing you mentioned? I couldn't get it to work anywhere.

Seems like quite a few people got hooked on this game. Me, I seem to get stuck all the time. Currently with the stupid good-for-nothing red ball. But I'll figure it out.

Flag, could you post about this hoverball spam glitch here?
