Well. Mostly what I define as 100%, is bringing Crono back to life. Just doesn't seem very..Accomplished if Crono isn't in the final battle. Well, doesn't feel like it to me anyway. And I must say, going through roughly 20%-40% of the game in such a short time is very impressive. Well, anyway. I'm going to bed now. Zzzzz.

I suppose, completing all the sidequests mentioned by Gaspar is part of that too. That is, all of these: (SPOILERS)

This is for destroying the Black Omen, right? That's strange how it's still variable dependent, as when you defeat the Black Omen, Gaspar goes into a different speech, never hitting that variable check. Eh what the hell, it still works logically :P

more wip, right after obtaining the epoch; right click and save target as http://members.aol.com/NJHC6/ChronoWip2.smv I opted to get the swallow even though it cost me a minute and 40 seconds to get, it increases cronos attack power so much that all future fights should be several turns shorter. thanks ventuz for pointing that sparkle thing out to me, it shall be fixed when i start the new run

Does this mean you are indeed getting Crono Back even though it will take a little time? If you're going for the Swallow, I assume Crono will be back by the end of the game. ;3

Well by that point in the game the swallow will be obsoleted by more powerful swords anyways. I am some what in agreement with you about getting chono back because it does give the game the best possible ending. But it does take around 20 minutes to get crono back and during that time you cant level up much or obtain any usefull items. When i get to that point in the game i will do alot of testing to see the exact amount of time lost getting him back and see if it is worth it or not. the link should work if you right click on it and save as

If your goal is to get the best ending, then getting Crono is worth it by definition; there's no need to test how fast it is except for the purpose of optimizing it.

If you're worried about leveling up, fight the Lavos Spawn that appear on the Mountain where you go to get Crono back. They should give some good experience, and some level ups if your levels are still fairly low. And the only thing that comes up when I try to Save As, is a HTML Document, so..

You can download that document and rename it to a .smv and it will play. (That's a HUGE movie file for being from-reset, btw.)

Mirrored at: https://files.tasvideos.org/bisqwit/chronowip3.zip (17 kB, extracts to 1.6 MB). EDIT: First-watching comments: I'd prefer it if you used your idle time (waiting for NPCs to do something) in a more interesting way than to stand still. When you don't, the movie kinda lacks a soul. It's just like a robot playing, computations of fastest actions... Surprise your audience. Do something that is cool and not required for the game completion. Don't be lazy, especially when it wouldn't make your movie any slower. Act multidimensionally. The fastest time is not the only goal to strive for. (I have no complaint of your speed, though. It's super.)

Hmm, the movie desynced here, after having Ayla say "Crono, eat, sing, dance!" about 40 times (an example of how not to make movie interesting). The screen blanked, and nothing is happening anymore (except the music that plays).

It worked when I enabled up+down. Apparently, you pressed up+down or left+right during that party scene.

Another thing you could do (or not do) to make the finished product more entertaining is to avoid continuously hitting the 'A' button when you have a dual or triple tech selected while waiting for the other party member's turn to catch up. It makes a selection sound every time you do it, and constantly hearing 'bleep bleep bleep bleep bleep bleep bleep bleep' between turns gets annoying.

How about making a little melody from that beep sound instead? With just one tone not a lot of melodies would be interesting, but some might be a nice and unexpected thing. Then again, I am known for musical untalent, so what do I know?

Well I finally got around to finishing my movie, it can be found here: http://hstrial-nway1.homestead.com/files/ChronoFinalWip.smv the movie is 4 hours and 42 minutes long (real time, ingame time is much lower), be sure to check all syncronization options in Snes9x before you play the movie. Feedback would be appreciated, because soon I will begin my next and final run through of the game. I estimate that there is ~5 minutes worth of potential optimizations in this movie. I must say the lavos battle came out much better than expected considering how under leveled my characters are. I think the strategy that I used has never even been considered by anyone before; basically I have two dead characters on screen and have Magus own lavos with his doomsickle which does over 1000 damage ever hit and 2000 for critical hits. Not only is this method good for having low level characters, but it is also insanely fast because the animation is quicker than any of his magic techniques. Enjoy the movie

Great work hero, a complete Chrono Trigger run of high quality speed in only 2 weeks, respect man. I'll check it out. EDIT: Watched it. The biggest error I saw there was that you took the "Toma's Pop" to place on his grave in order to open the Giant Claw hole. You don't need to do this. Even if there is no hole before you go to his grave, you can still enter it. Here you can save your first 2-3 min! The leveling up location you choose was a bit surprising but after more thoughts a good choice as you can kill all of the enemies with one "Lightning 2" which saves time. The lavos battle rocked badly. I knew the Doom Sickle makes that much damage if both characters are dead but I never thought it would be a rational choice to use it it against Lavos. You save a lot of time here as Magus don't need even a sec to pull of his strike. In the Lavos Core battle you could as a variation also try to use Aylas Dino Tail at the very beginning as she only has 1 HP at this moment for best damage which should do around 2000 HP to dispatch the left bit in one hit (if not equip her with a Power Scarf instead of a Silver Earring to be sure). Also I noticed you have Magus with only 15 Speed, I guess you should save one more Speed Tab to get the optimum 16 on him which will definitely save you some seconds in the Lavos battle. All in all a great run and I only wait for the the final version!
