VBA rerecording 19.3 was used for the creation of this TAS.
  • Aims for fastest time
  • Takes damage to save time
  • No warps/passwords used
This is my first TAS, and I decided to improve OgreSlayeR's "full" Circle of the Moon TAS. This is an improvement of 2540 frames (42.3 seconds) over the previous submission.
I get a Cotton Robe from an early enemy to get more INT, which let me have the DSS-combos active for a longer time, and also gives me a slight DEF-increase. This robe allows me to take a different route, which is a great timesaver. I also visit one less save room than the previous run does. I take a smaller detour in the first room of the Machine Tower, where I have to wait next to a Fox Hunter for a couple of frames (Around frame 23850, where I have to wait for the moving platform to lower itself). This move itself gains me 22 frames.
Other improvements:
  • The different routes gains me about 1000 frames
  • By using the Cotton Robe, I get more INT (Basically more MP), and can therefore keep the dash DSS between Cerberus and the save point, which saves me around 200 frames.
  • I slide and kill a few Skeletons on the way to the Eternal Corridor and the Underground Waterway, this saves me about 5 frames per Skeleton.
  • I manage to get an extra hit on Hugh before he does the Grand Anchor-move, so I'll only have to throw one bone after his move.
  • I gain around 200 frames by manipulating Dracula to do 2 charges (The minimum), instead of 3.
  • The rest of the frames are gained by taking more damage, more precise jumping, and better disposal of the speech-boxes.
I would like to thank the following people:
  • JXQ for getting me started with TASing
  • moozooh for mentioning countless of improvements
  • Zurreco for encouraging me through the creation of the run
  • adelikat, Upthorn, Baxter and Brushy for support
  • Everyone else who has been supporting me
  • OgreSlayeR for the previous TAS
Enjoy.

Yes vote. Not only did you improve a starred run, but you mentioned me in your submission text. Aww. :3 Next version, find a way to get that 4th hit on Hugh!

Oh man my first TAS to get obsoleted! Nice job on improving this by that much as I thought I did a pretty good job on mine. I didn't think it could be improved more than 15 seconds. I'll watch this ASAP. Edit: Yes vote as expected. The slightly different route and the Cotton Robe definitely big oversights by myself, and also Dracula's second form seemed to be done a bit better. Mad props <3. Now someone improve my Actraiser run because it really sucks by todays standards. One might be able to save 5 minutes or more.

Super Yes vote, as promised. :) While I'm confident that it could be done sub-22 minutes, it's still a very high quality run that fully deserves to be published. Many different tests and calculations were involved to ensure that some of the tricks, shortcuts and microoptimizations work, which led to producing two unfinished test versions of this run.

Yes vote from me although oddly this run just didn't seem as entertaining as the previous run, I don't know why personally. Maybe its because the author made no attempt to be entertaining when he could have quite easilly have done something during the idle time the first two bosses jump to mind. Still keep the star there is no reason for dropping it, there is other less worthy star games than this.

I was pleasantly surprised -- where I found ogre's (nonglitched) run boring and repetetive, I found this one varied and surprising. very good work. Yes vote from me.

This run impresses me. If anyone wonders what I am looking for in terms of technical quality for a published run, take a good look at this run. TASes should be at this level. In terms of entertainment, this run rocks. The action definately picks up in the 2nd half of the run. Unlike AKA, I think this run was MORE entertaining than the previous. Also, not doing batshit maneuvers during idle time doesn't mean it is less entertaining. Unless you can pull of something novel in those times, you might as well leave it alone. Anyway, yes vote and accepted for publication.

Small complaint: Not that I don't like a quick judging process, but 3 hours is not enough for people to be able to give feedback. Even in clear cases as this (I assume from watching some WIPs, I haven't seen the full run yet), I think they should be given a couple of days at a minimum. People could be discouraged from giving useful input if the outcome is already decided.

To be honest, I hadn't even seen this until Adelikat judged it.. that should give you a good idea of how long it was here. Not only that, but it was during the one time I'm most awake (late night ~21:00)... I'm a little suprised. :/

I guess certain people are ganging up on the voting. Very nicely done run, this game doesn't get old.

Alrighty, thanks for the feedback everyone. Zurreco: I'll do anything I can to nail that 4th hit on Hugh. I know a way of delaying the player's attack (Giving me a disadvantage), maybe I can figure out something so I can make Hugh's invicibility timer pass faster based on the same idea. moozooh: Yeah, three seconds seems like a possibility. AKA: I'll keep that in mind for V4, the problem is, neither Cerberus nor Necromancer die in a spectacular way, and I'm not a fan of the seizure-like "up-nothing-up-nothing"-inputs. Guybrush: It sure is! These are my suggested screens: Frame 41118(41119 and 41120 would work as well)----------Frame 74872

For the record, there were 9 yes votes at the moment of acceptance. Besides, this is an improvement to a starred run (and a great one at that), so it is better not to procrastinate with it.

YES Vote for this great run... though I would prefer if JXQ's Castlevania HOD takes over the star. In my opinion, the pace of the movie makes it far more exciting for viewers

This is an awesome run, and a great improvement time wise to the old run. Certainly voting yes.
