Many people on the site have seen the God Playing movie made as an ad for TASvideos.org. I want to make another video like this, but with videos from the newer systems instead of all NES. I'd like people to suggest similar songs for the intro, main and credits. And maybe post a link to a music video or something like that.[/url]

Will it be finished before 2030?

LINKIN PARK!!1111 (Okay, that wasn't serious.) I would actually suggest some of the better stuff from OCRemix (works wonders here, for instance).

You could use that "I believe I can fly... I believe I can touch the sky..." because that would be quite inspiring. alternatively, you could use that "I'll be there for you..." from Friends. Also, the opening of The Jetsons would work fine. ha-ha

but Linkin Park is about as over-used as anything from the matrix soundtrack. It's probably a good idea to use something released under a CC license.

what about "Nothing Else Matters" - Metallica it's 6 and a half minutes which is a good length for a promo video

How about 'Moving Very Slowly' by Taranchula (well, not really, but from the homestarrunner.com place). It would be rather humorous seeing as we're talking about really fast playthroughs. You could have the part with the raining acid in Castlevania 3, Alucard's Path show for the line 'aciiiiiiid, rains from the 'bove', and have Samus kill Mother Brain for 'braindeeeeaaaad, state of your mind'... Etc', etc'.

Lol yeah, put in [Further Down the Spiral #02] The Art of Self Destruction, Part One [5:41], and it'll be a perfect promo video! Everyone will regret seeing it even once! :D

Anything by Iron Maiden would suffice :)

Dude, you're my new hero :P I'd vote for Ride the Sky or Futureworld though :) Edit: If it's a fast paced video, maybe some Children of Bodom, Atreyu or Lamb of God ;)

Anyway, I'll give it a shot... I was already thinking about making something. I think NES games are good for starting.

Actually, I do think that Heavy Metal, Nu-Metal and similar heavy guitar music genres with pathetic vocals aren't too well-suited for such soundtracks. My opinion is that such soundtrack should be somehow connected to the game music, even if it is a remix, a rearrangement or something like that. Although if you want to use metal that bad, at least consider Machinae Supremacy.

Linkin Park? pfff... For a video game movie, things should be fast-paced. I nominate DragonForce - Through the Fire and the Flames

Just thought of one thing. KMFDM — [Symbols #01] Megalomaniac [6:07] — you won't ever be able to find more awesome lyrics for "god playing" video. Not even because they fit so incredibly well for a promo — rather, because they accomplish just the opposite. %)

I'd personally prefer music that doesn't have any words in it, the music I seen in some stunt videos would be ideal canditdates.

Hmm... Well, I don't really know much about real-world music, to be honest. But video games have some cool music that's usually speech-less. Some ideas: Keen-edged blade - Tales of Symphonia (battle music in last area, and IIRC, the Nifelheim book area) It can waver and fight - Tales of Symphonia (battle music from last boss' first form) Faith and Reality, the themes for levels 3 and 4 from Ikaruga The Spirit Chaser, the boss-fight theme in Surlent's arc in Rudra no Hihou Toge Toge - R-Type III (that half-way boss in level 3 or 4, IIRC) Rufus' Welcoming Ceremony - Final Fantasy 7 And so on and so forth. I suppose that you could find some themes that are more fitting.

http://www.ssh.ne.jp/ ...for speed, videogames and no vocals. Travel Demon Guilty Gear Momentary Life Holy Orders(Be Just or Be Dead) Razorback/No.666-Mix - edit - Gah, almost forgot the two definite favorites at the moment! I don't have time to find them in all that "???? ??? ?????" text hehe, but the names show up as simply "Decisive Battle" and "GuiltyGearX" on my mp3 player. Both these are absolutely amazing and I'm sure something wicked could be synched to either of the solo's forcing people to change pants.

True, still quite well implemented and funnily enough Iron Maiden was already suggested in this thread! (Which I'd really disagree on if it was just one of their tracks; even though they're good and all I don't see how it would fit in more than anything else.)

Oh yeah, that's a nice arrangement of classic Castlevania tunes, although that Iron Maiden tune came out of nowhere for totally unknown reason.

I've been imagining a new God Playing video for a while, and I even considered trying to make one myself at one point. (Haven't gotten around to it yet...) The song I've had in mind is Through The Fire and The Flames by Dragonforce. It's really long, fast-paced, and segmented perfectly for this type of movie.

At any rate the song should be fast, definitely nothing like Nothing Else Matters or Rufus' Welcoming Ceremony. I agree that Dragonforce might be a good candidate, although in some of their songs the guitar stuff is so over the top it's not even cool anymore.
