This is the first speedrun for this game.

About The Game

The game is about a three-eye boy who set out to rescue a lovely girl. All together there's five stages.
The boy can use the normal weapon as well as a red lance which can be called out by pressing the B button for several seconds.
At first the lance cause no damege to enemies. But if the hero went into the shop and paied 1ooo yen (why yen? because this story happened in Japan) to buy a lance's power-up, the lance can be used to beat all kinds of enemies.
Especially the in BOSS fighting, the hero can always destroy these guys within 3 seconds with the help of red lance. That will make the movie much faster.
The problem is how to gain 1000 yen and not to cause any lags in the game. In the game ,a small enemy will drop a coin when it is beaten by the hero. Then the hero can can keep on shooting the coin once and once again to make it bigger and bigger (but too much hits will make the coin disappear) For example, a 20 yen coin can be changed into a 100 one. In stage 1-1, there's a truck on which appear 13 dogs. Each dog can drop a 20 yen coin and I have enough spare time to hit them into 100 yen coins. But it's not so easy even if I slow down the speed, for the hero can throw out three shots an one time but at most there will be 5 or more coins on the screen. Finally I gained 1110 yen and that's enough for me:)
Besides the red lance the hero can also choose to buy three kinds of special weapons: wave, high and speed. Their power is the same as the normal weapon. If I want to buy one of these weapons I had to pay hundreds of frames' time to gain another 1000 yen(each weapon worth 1000 yen). So I decided not to buy any of them.

Which Level Should I Choose

There are two levels to choose at beginning: easy and normal. The only difference is that if you carelessly drop the hero into a gulf there's a bird to carry you out in easy level but no one in normal level.Other things are the same, like the HP of small enemies and boss. There's no need to choose the normal level and not to choose it can save a frame's time.

Interesting Points

  • As I've mentioned above, how to work out 1000 yen on the truck is a hard but interesting thing.
  • Killing all the boss within several seconds under the help of the lance. I even ended the movie so early when the final boss haven't come out.
  • Dancing with enemies in stage 4-1. I had much spare time then, and the music is so wonderful.
  • "Kiss" the iron thorns in stage 5. The thorns can send the hero to death by one touch and I try to make it look like a narrow pass.
Enjoy:)

Neat! Good game choice for a TAS, and looks very well played. My only concern is that you don't seem to take advantage of downward acceleration. You fall off of ledges rather than jump off. Could that have saved time?

Thanks for your comments :) I have made some compare in this game and got a conclusion that jumping has the same speed as walking all the time.Sometimes I took more falling off than jumping off, that's just for fun.For there's already much jumping actions in other places and I just walked along to make the actions not so humdrum.

Err... I think you misunderstand. Let's see if I can test it myself... Okay, I made a test movie to demonstrate what I'm talking about. It isn't perfect, but I think I saved 10 frames over your submission by using gravity to fall more quickly.

Oh yeah,I see it,after watching this test movie. That's really an improvement! haha, thank you ,I didn't notice that kind of mistakes before. I'll make a new version.But... it happeded at stage 2 and making the new movie will cost me another three or four weeks' time. Is it OK if I leave this movie still here for more suggestions?

Have you considered using a hex-editor to make the changes? You might save yourself a lot of work.

I haven't used this editing tool before.I'll have a try. I think in the new movie there will be around 20 frames' improvement.I'll make the movie file update then.

I love this game! And the movie is well done, but it seems like you're already going to make a new version so I'm not going to vote. Another suggestion: don't end the movie so early, wait until the boss is dead and input is impossible. If input is still possible (as it is at the end of the movie) then a player could pause, or even remove the lance. I think that others will agree.

This is actually a highly subjective topic - see more here at the Rules.

It doesn't really matter much. Though the movie termination point is subject to debate, pressing pause so that the game won't end is kinda… well, retarded, I guess. [EDIT] Damn, JXQ beat me to it. Teaches me how to refresh the window before typing an answer…

Personally,I like to end the movie as early as possible, the #1 termination point. That is the spirit of speedrun--as short as possible, just like the ending point in "GBA Maxim Version Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance " in 00:26:95".(http://tasvideos.org/727M.html) It's so cool to end it in that way,in my view;)

I thought the ending was great. The fact that you left him bouncing up and down was hilarious.

I think ending input as soon as possible is valid and often entertaining. The controversy is when the earlier input actualy DELAYS the completion of the game (such as SMW). Even then, it not against the rules to do so.

This is very strange. Im using FCEU .16 and whenever I try to replay or open the ROM, I get a black screen and absolutely nothing else. Does anyone know why its behaving like this?

maybe because FCEU .16 doesn't exist?

AngerFist, read the submision text :P He used .15 It is uncommon for a ROM to not work at all in .16 but work fine in an older version (yes .16 exists ;p). There was another game like that too but I can't remember the name.
