Cool stuff indeed. It's probably a good idea to keep it on hold for a bit as it seems this game probably isn't near being 100% broken. It would suck if you were near finished with your TAS and you found another game breaking glitch.
True. I wouldn't want to be near finished and find something like this: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/469271315/Rockman%20%26%20Forte%20%28J%29%20glitch4.smv 1 minute and 48 seconds saved, just like that.

Congratulations on finding that glitch. Zipping looks a lot cooler though.

Since I won't be using this, I might as well post it. Astroman: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/582199058/Rockman%20%26%20Forte%20%28J%29.smv By the way, I found how to get into an upper-left corner with Ice Wall, but it apparently requires entering and exiting the sub-menu.

I had actually made a comic about this previous to reading this. In case anybody cares to read it, here's a link. http://pekopon.deviantart.com/art/This-better-not-happen-69648770

Burner Man's stage done again, with the run about 6 seconds faster than my last run. In fact, since hex-editing was successful, and I am not changing Pirate Man's stage: Pirate Man's stage done again, with the run about 6 seconds faster than my last run. Astro Man's stage is not done, despite syncing correctly. By the way, glitching above a boss room (i.e. Astro Man's room) while beating a boss saves 16 frames on the warp out. Unfortunately, it takes too much time to cancel an Ice Wall. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/230024141/Rockman%20%26%20Forte%20%28J%29%20glitch6.smv

I finished off Astro Man (in style). About 4 seconds have been saved in that level, so now the run is 10 seconds faster than my last, and well over half a minute faster than published. I was wrong about glitching above a boss room not saving time. That's exactly what I did to Astro Man. It is not necessary to use two Ice Walls; the ceiling is barely low enough. However, there must be no Ice Wall remaining after the boss is defeated; otherwise it causes delay.

Sounds good. I'm eagerly waiting to see this finished.

Dynamo Man done: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/243193640/RnF%20FractalFusion%20dynamoman%20done.smv I saved about 2 seconds in level (excluding boss) despite taking damage and having no Tengu Blade. Against the boss, I saved about 10.5 seconds, because of Counter.

I'm using Rockman & Forte (J).smc. I don't know if it is an actual GoodSNES name.

Yeah, mine didn't match either but it synced fine. Infact, I tried using a patched english translation rom and it still synced fine if anyone wants to do that. Nice progress btw. Dynamo Man was sort of disappointing as far as zipping goes though.

For the record, I've been watching this run with the ROM "Rockman & Forte (J).smc", which doesn't match the movie's checksum, but so far I haven't experienced any desyncs, so I don't think it's anything to worry about.

Ground Man finished. I saved 26 seconds (only 3 seconds of which were from the boss). Guess how I saved the rest of the time. I estimate my run to be about 1:18 faster at this point. That's 1 minute, 18 seconds.

Yikes, and you haven't even done that 1 minute 48 second boss skip. Keep it up! One question I have is Forte has many missed shots. Is this unavoidable with the way his weapon works, does it manipulate luck or does it change his x/y pixel position to land differently and avoid things? Oh, and are you thinking of doing a Rockman version after this?

The missed shots are for luck-manipulation. Every shot throws one random value. Strangely, if it hits a wall, it throws another. It's far more convenient than in the X series, where you have to drag X down a wall to throw a random value (although luck is timing-dependent in that one). I don't know yet about whether I will do a Rockman version. Maybe the 100 CD run?

I just wonder if Rockman can perform the same glitches with ice wall and such as easily (or at all), especially since he lacks a double jump. I think non 100 CDs won't be good since Forte is better at just about everything for an any% run, so obsoleting the 100 CDs run seems logical. Once you're done with the amazingness that is the Forte run first, of course.

A 100CDs/100% run would definitely be far more entertaining if you include all the new shortcuts through the zipping up/left/right glitch and you are most probably bound to discover a few more shortcuts for the 100CD run.

I think the biggest flaw in the 100 CD run is the constant stopping to get some buried CDs. It kills the mood pretty well :/

Yeah, I'd prefer to see an any% Rockman run. If it were up to me, Fractal (or someone else) would do MMX 100% next. :P (I tried and came to the conclusion that I'm not suited for MM games.)

Tengu Man done. ~12 seconds saved, for a total of about 1:30.

Probably. Rockman has some trouble reaching positions that Forte can easily reach, though it can be done with Ice Wall and cancel.
