I need some help downloading movies. Long story short, my right-clicker does not work, so I cannot "save target as" or anything like that. I would like someone to email me the movies( in .avi format) if they can.
The movies are: The Super Mario 64 in 15 minutes by Rikku, the Super Mario 64 120 Stars by Rikku, and the Sonic 2 in under 20 minutes movies. Please help me. I am 100% sure there is nothing else I could do.
Email usually has a 10 megabyte limit, which works out to around 7 megabytes of actual AVI. That wouldn't work.
Some movies have a direct download via archive.org which you may be able to use. Not all of them, but some of the big ones do.
Install BitTornado, then just start clicking on "download via BitTorrent" links on the movie section. Let good things happen. Only one mouse button needed.
Just left click? Or if you want to save the torrent file before opening, alt+click? No one's going to e-mail you the 120-star run avi, that's just ridiculous.
Yes, only left click. If you know where these "direct downloads" are, give me a link or something. Everytime I click the archive.org link, it does not download. It plays.
Hey, people are being so rude to this guy. Sure, his email request is completely bogus, and even laughable, but I propose a solution to his problem.
I actually asked this a while back in the #nesvideos IRC channel, getting similar responses, I went to the #sda irc channel, and molotov, enhasa, and a few other HELPFUL members solved my problem.
I was using IE at the time, and I assume you are, since FF has a download manager.
What you need to do is edit the file type associations in windows explorer.
This works in windows xp, I'm not sure about vista, or other operating systems.
1) Open up any window in explorer (not iexplorer), and go to "tools, folder options, and click the file-type tab"
2) Select the avi file type (I assume you want to stop this "play behavior" on avis, and maybe mpegs)
3) Click advanced
4) Click select "open" (it should NOT be bolded). Then say "set as default".
5)The "open" option should now be bolded.
This should make the default behavior of clicking any dynamically linked avi to open the avi (with a little dialog box, asking if you want to save, or play) instead of play.
If this doesn't work, I'm fresh out of ideas. I would suggest using firefox. Or buying a new mouse.
You can also try using the "context menu" button on your keyboard. It's between control and alt (assuming you're in the US and aren't on a Mac). (edit: to use the context menu key, click what you want to right-click, but don't release the click, then hit the context menu key, mouse down to your selection, and release)
Anyway, Bittorrent is just a special kind of download manager that gives back as much as it gets (so you aren't draining the bandwidth of free hobbyist sites and costing them tons of money). It doesn't take longer and isn't harder to use than normal web browsing.

hit tab until the dotted square gets over the link you want, then hit the context menu key (left of your right control key). the menu will popup in the top left hand corner. with the down arrow key, go to "save target as..." and hit "enter".
no mouse needed at all.
there is absolutely nothing you cannot do without a mouse. the only exception I know is the menu to dispose the windows automatically (mosaics...). with ctrl, alt, shift, escape, start, context menu, space and arrows, combinations with letters, and the F* keys, you can access to anything.
or, get a new mouse for less than 10 bucks.

Okay, I need to be honest here. The reason I cannot use the right click button is because the library that I try to get the videos from- because they have DSL and I have dial-up, so you get why I use the internet there- has restriction software, so I can't use the right click or context menu key. I have yet to try the Folder Options fix, but I would appreciate any more support.
Yes, the e-mail question was pretty bogus, but I was/am still desperate.
The "most popular belief" about this legal issue is that it's legal to download a ROM, as long as you own the real game. Dumping them yourself or downloading it would be just as (il)legal, considering you do have the real game.

The "most popular belief" is also explicitly wrong, at least in the US, where you can't download a copy without express permission from the copyright holder but you can not only make backup copies but also make the game usable on unintended platforms in any way you wish (which would include dumping it and using an emulator).

can he at least save any file on the hd ?
even if the files were sent on his email, which isn't likely to happen, how would he then save the attached files on the hd ?

so you do have internet at home, it's just slow? Leave the computer on, and you can download over 500MB per day (maybe 250 if bittorrent wants to share the line equally). I really don't see the problem. You'd have the mario 64 files by now if you had started to download them when you posted this thread. Also the short ones (plural because there are efforts by AKA, swordless link, and rikku) are on youtube as well.
That or use the emulator, a rom, and the relevant movie file. with dialup and google, all necessary materials should take about fifteen minutes minutes to acquire and while you wait, you can read the faq on how to get it ready for watching..
