Overall update: August, 18th 2013 Notice: Still where the WIP left off... Basically we're taking a few days off... Yeah \o_O/ ... We'll start back this week, don't worry! Post 1: Game Overview 100% Prerequisites *All Gems Collected *All Orbs Collected *All Talismans Collected *All Power ups Collected *Super-flame Game objectives * Emulator used: PSXJin * CD ID: SCUS-94425 * Region: USA * Aims for fastest time with 100% completion * Heavy glitch abuse * Takes damage to save time(?) Movement Velocity *Supercharge : 55 *Charge on ground : 30 *Charge into water : 28 *Glide : 25 *Charge in air : 24 Currently Known Glitches/Tricks/Skips *Swim in the Air *Proxy Jumps *Double Jump *Invincibility Glitch *Avoid Money Bags/Early places/Early Power-ups *Collision Free Glitch *Unlimited Fall *Turtle Soup Skip *Early Super-flame *Colussus Super Jump *Idol Springs Super Jump *Secondary Method of Swim in Air Winter Tundra Stages That Can Not Be 100% Without Backtracking (1st Play-through) *Fracture Hills - Head Bash Required *Shady Oasis - Head Bash Required Sunny Beach initially could not be completed the first run through, this is no longer the case with having the 'Turtle Soup Skip'. IF 'Gulp Skip' is ever found properly, then all levels will be done the first play-through. Autumn Plains is the second of the three home worlds of Spyro 2. It was designed roughly to be 100% impossible to get out of bounds. The reason why the developers tried so hard to make it so difficult (and believe me, it is) to get out of bounds is because you can get very high on the map, initially allowing you to fly anywhere on the map. Consistent methods have been found to get out of bounds with cheating devices (Cheat Engine namely), however this is irrelevant other than for testing as a TAS would not use cheats. Crash41596 accidentally clipped out of bounds at the first ladder, near the top, but after thousands of attempts, we've been unable to reproduce it. As for The Winter Tundra, skull bash is needed for 100%. This TAS first sought to include Dragon Shores as a little bonus, but I've decided to create a separate movie with Dragon Shores mini-games at the same time release as the 100% (playaround); therefore, Ripto will be defeated last for the most optimal time. The current estimated completion time is hard to estimate with all the possibilities. It's currently estimated time is x:xx:xx.xx (not yet estimated properly). Route Note: I'm typing this out of memory, and I can be a bit forgetful of things (sadly), so I can't guarantee this is going to be 100% this route, but it's pretty close regardless. 1. Glimmer (Complete; Credits for Lapogne36 for doing this; It's a pain in the butt kind of level, especially to TAS because of the way a gem miner moves since he waits on you) 2. Colossus (Complete; A big thanks for Crash41596 for majority of this level!) --Buy Swim 3. Idol Springs (In Progress! At fishes, will take a while. Currently having Hyperbug find exact coding of fishes to get a great time! (something like 25-30 seconds.. optimal is very unlikely due to how hard this is) 4. Get hunter orb/ Orb on ledge 5. Hurricos 6. Sunny Beach (Turtle Proxy :D) 7. Get orb that would normally require climb with swim jump. 8. Ocean Speedway + Orb with Hunter (this might take some time honestly because of the possibilities of finishing this challenge but nothing like fishes.. we hope.) 9. Orb behind door 10. Aquaria Towers 11. Crush -----------------End Homeworld 1----------- 1. Crystal Glacier 2. Skelos Badlands 3. Breeze Harbor (Quick completion.. Revisit with Fireball for 100% completion) 4. Orb above Breeze Harbor (jump on portal frame, get orb) --Buy Climb 5. Scorch 6. Fracture Hills (Quick completion.. Revisit with Fireball for 100% completion) 7. Magma Cone 8. Shady Oasis (Complete, revisit after getting headbash (which is also after getting Fireball, needless to say.) 9. Metro Speedway + Orb 10. Zephyr 11. Gulp (This'll be fun...) (After Revisit with Fireball) Icy Speedway + Orb ----------------End Homeworld 2, sans revisits--------

:) Yes, but it will take a while, I've got to get a pretty good route for the Winter Tundra before I start, and that's where I'm hoping the LOVELY :P people of TASVideos can help me on that.

T_T That's what everyone says about my typing! :P, yea so far it's pretty good, but I'm still trying to completely optimize Glimmer more, I still believe it could be improved by at least a second or two.. And as the way I am, I will constantly post my progress, so be sure to check out this thread at least every week :P... And again, thank you :D

Here is the route I propose : 1. Glimmer 100% 2. Collosus 100% 3. Purchase Swim 4. Get Orb from hunter (Summer Forest) 5. Get Orb on High Ledge (Summer Forest) 6. Idol Springs 100% 7. Battle Crush (with the "door glitch") 8. Crystal Glacier 100% 9. Skelos Badlands 100% 10. Purchase Climb 11. Return to Summer Forest 12. Get third Summer Forest Orb 13. Hurricos 100% 14. Sunny Beach 100% 15. Ocean Speedway 100% 16. Get Orb behind door 17. Aquaria Towers 100% 18. Return to Autumn Plains 19. Scorch 100% 20. Fracture Hills (All the gems in the high area) 21. Magma Cone 100% 22. Shady Oasis (All the gems in the road + the first orb) 23. Icy Speedway 100% 24. Get first Autumn Plains Orb 25. Zephyr 100% 26. Metro Speedway 100% 27. Get second Autumn Plains Orb 28. Breeze Harbor 100% 29. Battle Gulp Did skill points and tokens (Dragon Shores) are necessary for a "100%" run ?

First off, I'm glad you responded :). Anyways, I'm familiar with getting into Crush's room early. I like the route you've proposed, but it would help to get the Orb from Hunter first instead of going straight to Collosus since you can fly to behind Collosus' entrance, where they are 2 gems. For 100%, which is what is required for the permanent super flame upgrade, everything must be got... So yes, Dragon Shores is necessary if that's what you mean for 100%. With that being said, we can use bobmario511's route for Collosus here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5vn_5ReAD9Y, who has agreed to help me work on this TAS, I do hope you will do the same :), welp.. We can use the door skip after getting the gems in the first part of the stage. then get the gems on the bridge.. Improve the route a tad bit and try for it from there after getting a solid barely improvable route :P. 1 thing that is irking me about this run so far is mild desyncs, which I know is a big problem with PCSX :( ... Did you use anything in your any% run to help stop desyncs? And also did you use anything such as a good sound plugin? If so, I would really like to have those for use on this. After getting everything in the little beginning area of Summer Forest, (After completing Idle Springs as well) we get the orb from the high ledge, after that, we can skip the rest of the Summer Forest levels, and do the route you've proposed. Which I think is very thought out lol.. So here's what we've got 1. Glimmer 100% 2. Get Orb from hunter (Summer Forest) 3. Collosus 100% 4. Purchase Swim 5. Idol Springs 100% 6. Get Orb on High Ledge (Summer Forest) (Dash into Water, Collect gems in the water there as well) 7. Battle Crush 8. Crystal Glacier 100% 9. Skelos Badlands 100% 10. Purchase Climb 11. Return to Summer Forest 12. Get third Summer Forest Orb 13. Hurricos 100% 14. Sunny Beach 100% 15. Ocean Speedway 100% 16. Get Orb behind door 17. Aquaria Towers 100% (must pay money bags to get out :P.. but no big deal really) 18. Battle Gulp 30. Purchase Skull Bash Think that's good :) ?

It seems that you forget that they are some gems in the water for the high ledge orb, so the best route is -Collosus -purchase swim -Orb from Hunter -Orb on high ledge -gems in the water (after that you are at the start of Summer Forest) -gems out of water you don't get in the first passage -Idol Spring

:P I know they're gems there, but like I'll create 2 different WIP's, one using that route up to the second you enter Idol Springs.. And the other using the route I proposed up to the second you enter Idol Springs... That way at least we'll know that way lol... Also, I'll try and use version 0.1.2 of PCSX rr instead of 0.1.3, with the no sound 0.4 plugin.. And I'll rip my fast forward key outta the keyboard so I'm not tempted O_o" for fast forwarding, and thanks again... And I'll be getting on these later when I got some more free time. Oh 1 final thing, are you saying that once you get the gem from Hunter, that you can fly over to the orb on the High Ledge? If so, that would make complete sense about your route :P.

Okay, I've been working on it more, and I'll be using that route, and once I get into Autumn Plains, I'll have the 1st WIP up for download.. Hopefully you can improve it :) EDIT: Well, you said that you didn't have any trouble with desyncs when making your run, though mine tries to desync at random positions. At first it was after completing Glimmer... And now, it's half way through Collosus... At one point it would go all the way to Idol springs without desyncing.. but then.. started back up again... I'm not sure what to do, maybe we'll have to wait til the next version of PCSX rr comes out.. Unless you could create a file and send to me and try that :p? The desync problem is stupid :P

I'll be waiting for the next version so that the desyncs don't kill me, but when it's released I'll be working on it alot ;).

"TASVideos is always down when I need it xD (like everyday).... If you're talking about where I triple jump @ 0:24 ... I had trouble finding it possible to hit the enemy, and hit both the barrels without doing so. I just barely hit both the enemy and barrels hit boxes at the same time (and was within 1-5 frame distance of it's hit box, I think less than 3 but can't remember off the top of my head). As for gliding at the end: Glide speed = 25, charge jump in air = 24 :p." Using TASVideos to reply now as it's easier :) About the jumping, I was more meaning the large jumps between the small islands rather than the small jump for the enemy, and I know that the gliding at the end is quicker, I changed to that in my WIP after noticing it in Lapogne's run. "Also continuing from what I said down there... This isn't like the final tid bit, I'mma do multiple ones of just this 32 second part to completely frame whore it... But I wanted to basically get the hype out big time in advance before I put up the WIPs I'll have (just like Grunz did, though Zelda vs Spyro, I'm sure Zelda has a waybigger audience :p)" I'm glad that that teaser isn't going in the final run, I was feeling it didn't look very optimised :P I also hope that this can grab a lot of attention, as when I contemplate doing my Spyro 3 TAS, one of my problems getting the motivation to continue it is the lack of support that unfortunately isn't there for that game :D

Yeah haha, it's definitely not optimized considering I made it in about 10 minutes. But the thing I'm currently working on (just what is shown in that video), I've spent roughly 2 hours trying to get perfect. >.>

I've definitely saved time over Glimmer now. I also was wondering if anyone would help volunteer to help me with the route planning or actual playing? Improving what I have an what not, this run is going to take quite a while to do just by myself. As for the overall route plan, it's pretty solid in my opinion to Winter Tundra, but I mean like each state, like "Glimmer's route" or "Idle Springs route" ... Something of that nature :p. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8U2oZIOkTBw Note on the above: Was this really never found??? It seems rather obvious, and it saves coming back to this part of Glimmer iirc. That part was just a demonstration too, say in the real TAS: I'd have done hit the first 2 lizards and got most of the gems down in the area. I'll figure out a good path to use for that in the end. That's a bit I had on Glimmer, and I'm quite sure (like 99% here) it'd save time by not having to revisit that area.. And when I hit the final lizard, getting the orb, instead of going to that area, it'd be alot simpler to just hit straight forward for the talisman and then finish the level.

I think bobmario or someone else found that you could flame in a double jump, and used this for some of the gem thingies in the cave, but I don't think anyone tried this for outside, so nice work, this'll save a lot of time. As I said before, I'll gladly do my bit with route planning, although my knowledge of Spyro 2 is less than 1 and 3. If you want to add each other on skype/msn PM me please.

I can help you if you want for the route planing. Also about your video, I already see the same thing a long time ago on youtube, but I was not able to find it again.

Thanks that would really be appreciated. I figured it was already found but I couldn't find a video of it, that's why I didn't say it was new or something :P ... I'm currently at 6835 rerecords and I'm not even 2 minutes into the actual playing, so it'll take a while before I even finish Glimmer up. Also, I was thinking for summer forest to postpone collection a few gems until after we were to come back from Autumn Plains. As for a small (undetailed) explanation it'd be like (say I'm just now coming out of Glimmer) get the gems that are to the right of Spyro and circle around. I'm pretty sure that it'd be faster to charge down the steps and get all of the gems in the room where if you fail hunter shows up, and then to get back up use the whirlwind. As you exit that room, ignore the gem on the left (should be a red gem) because we can get that coming back from Autumn Plains. It'd be good to get all gems except for that one in this area, as for the gems in the water, I'll have to see a route for it to be split up with since we're going there 2 times. As for the rest of the gems, they'll be split up going along with the route you proposed like a year ago. I think the next few months will be spent on just this bit, so nothing to worry about on the Winter Tundra until I/we get there.

I partly understood that wall of text ;) I have a little bit of a route for Summer Forest - after getting Hunter's orb, then gliding over to the other orb, like you discussed a year ago, you can go through the cave backwards getting the gems, and once out, use this swimming glitch: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1bhvwD0I1Ac Which could make some gem collecting a bit easier before entering the next level, and/or possibly be used to get orb above sunny beach and hurricos without having to climb (even with climb while backtracking to Sunny Beach would be quite slow?) Also, I have a possible idea to skip climbing in Sunny Beach - I'm downloading a NTSC-U ROM right now, just checking you're using NTSC-U too?

Yeah I'm using NTSC-U ... It isn't necessary to have climb to get the "you need climb here without glitches" orb :p, but since I/we would have to go back to that area, it makes it much easier. Also we're aware of that glitch :). As for if it has a major use, still yet to be decided... It could probably get a few gems on the way , but a downside would be postponing Idol Springs... That probably isn't a big deal though as the portal coming back to Summer Forest is right beside of Idol Springs. Not sure I might put it to use in getting the gems in the room where you if you fall down, hunter appears explaining how to get over to the other side. Depends on testing, but just guessing, if it does save time, I think it's way too small to put alot of faith in it, because where PSXJin doesn't have a sturdy way of movie editing, and with the way the route is, it'd be a shame to redo so much... Such as: Idol Springs 100% Battle Crush Crystal Glacier 100% Skelos Badlands 100% Purchase Climb Return to Summer Forest Though in advance, I don't think it's possible to do the swimming in air glitch in Sunny Beach... But if you found a way that'd be great :p.
