Game Discription

The Goonies II (グーニーズ2 フラッテリー最後の挑戦 Gūnīzu Tsū: Furatterī Saigo no Chōsen?, The Goonies II: The Fratellis' Last Stand) is an adventure game developed and published by Konami for the Nintendo Entertainment System. It was released on March 18, 1987 in Japan, November 1987 in North America, and on December 19, 1988 in Europe. It is a sequel to the first Famicom Goonies game, which was only available in North America on Nintendo Vs. System and PlayChoice-10 arcade units. This led some people to believe that it was supposed to be a sequel to a first Goonies videogame that was widely released. The game's story centers on Mikey. His friends, the Goonies, have been kidnapped by the Fratellis, an Italian family of small-time crooks and counterfeiters. Mikey must rescue all six of his friends and free a captured mermaid named Annie who did not appear in the film.source:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Goonies_II
The game's goal is found the 6 goonies in different places using different tools but there are problems with the enemies so Mikey need to defeat them using different weapons like Yo-Yo,Slingshot,Firebox...

About the run

This run is impovement by 778 frame (about 14.60 seconde)thanRandil's run

Tricks & Informations

1-Raison for use J version: in my previous submission i'm not explaine correctly the raison for using the J version: If i use the J version i can save more frames than using the U version.Why?. In the doors, the informations writing is faster in the J version. For exemple:the first door, when i get the Hammer, the time for writing information is about 1 seconde but in the U version is about 2 secondes
2-Getting the Key Holder: I get 2 key holders from doors and 2 key holders by defeting same enemies For get the key holder from the enemies,i need to defete 4 or 5 get the seconde key holder in the sea can save more frames than get it in the other place (see thecurrent run)
3-Run items
  • Glasses:can display the secret doors
  • Hyper Shoses:can speed up the walking
  • Diving: Suit:using this item i can go to the sea
  • Ladder:using this item i can go to the up or down rooms
  • Jumping Shoses:using this item player can jump higher

Special Thanks

Thanks to:Randil for his trick(getting hit back by enemie,i use this trick in my run) ,WalkerBoh For his knowledge about the route.

Ending

i hope the submission statue change to:published and if there are a language problems, excuse my

For this moment,That's all

Noxxa: Judging.
Noxxa: Rejecting. There's too much improvement available to accept this, as demonstrated by both a 12:59 run with death warps [dead link removed] and a 15:51 run without deaths [dead link removed] on Nicovideo. A submission, even if it is an improvement to a published movie, must beat all known records. This run fails to do so.

There is a TAS of this game on Nicovideo, beating it in 12:59.67 (link here). This is over three and a half minutes faster than your TAS (and the published run). While the time is a couple seconds faster than the published run (depending on how much amounts on the version change from (U) to (J)), this run appears to be a large amount of time away from how fast it can be done.
http://www.youtube.com/Noxxa <dwangoAC> This is a TAS (...). Not suitable for all audiences. May cause undesirable side-effects. May contain emulator abuse. Emulator may be abusive. This product contains glitches known to the state of California to cause egg defects. <Masterjun> I'm just a guy arranging bits in a sequence which could potentially amuse other people looking at these bits <adelikat> In Oregon Trail, I sacrificed my own family to save time. In Star trek, I killed helpless comrades in escape pods to save time. Here, I kill my allies to save time. I think I need help.

It is still faster than the published movie, no? And also the Nicovideo one is for a different version of the game, which may or may not be a factor.

Yes, but I don't see this comparatively small improvement (about 15 seconds, largely because of the switch from U to J rom) merit obsoletion of a seven year old TAS, knowing that it's improvable further by several minutes. The last time something like this happened was abeshi's Ocarina of Time TAS, which only got accepted because it was a very significant improvement of roughly 90 minutes, and the old run was infamously low-quality and could be beaten in real time. This time, I don't see the run being enough of a change to publish despite large well known improvements. In addition, it's also in the rules that a movie must beat all existing records, which this run clearly doesn't. (In fact, it was linked to in the last submission of this game by the same author (see nitrogenesis' post), so there isn't really an excuse here).

...so why don't we get that film from Nicovideo on this site? Surely it's possible to find the author somewhere?

TASVideos does not deal with video recordings. It deals with input recordings.

I think it would be, because he only uses passwords the game has given him, i.e., he kills himself off, receives a password, and uses it.

Voting No to another Goonies 2 submission by McBobX, this time for not beating all current records.
