I'm doing my first speedrun, on the English version of Wario Ware, Inc. The aim is to defeat Wario's stage as quickly as possible. Here's a "beta" version: http://rapidshare.de/files/16600747/wwspeedrunlavos.zip.html It beats the game pretty quickly, but I think I could still save some time yet before I submit it. What do you guys think?

I haven't watched your WIP, but I'm actually surprised nobody has tried TAS'ing this game yet. Maybe it's because you can't really save much time in the microgames? Dunno.

Probably. In that right, Wario Ware: Touched! would be a lot better, but as far as I know, there isn't a decent NDS emulator to be found.

You mean, there isn't a working NDS emulator to be found.

The thing with WarioWare is that the boss games are the ONLY ones not on a timer, whether you win or lose they all take exactly five seconds. Throw in the fact that you can't skip any of the cutscenes and you've got a terrible game to TAS. It's an awesome game, sure, but unless you can pull off some crazy moves for all 100+ microgames you play, there's no way anyone's going to pay attention the whole way. I watched until nearly the second Jimmy, though, and didn't see a whole lot that didn't look like you did it (or could have done it) at full speed.

The only thing a TAS would really be useful for in this game is minigame high scores, I think. I got 999 points in Paper Plane (required a lot of luck manip) and 762 in Skateboard (which I think starts to require subframe timing).

I made a video of getting 999 in the plane challenge as a concept video of what it is like to get super high scores. Video. I also managed to get 774 in the skate challenge but you cannot control the speed at which the game progresses so it is not nearly as interesting.

Well the skateboarding game's a little random, I think - I got 792. And as can be seen by both the guy-above-me's movie and in my own game, the problem occures when a platform is followed by a block that is followed by 2 more platforms. Would it be possible to luck-manipulate the minigame (perhaps before starting it?) to make it not include that formation after 750 or 700 or whenever it starts to be impossible? Although I think towards 900, there'll be more impossibilities...

Im thinking maybe you could do a max points run. That would be probably the best TAS you could scrounge from the game.

Oh it appears you can manipulate luck in the skateboarding game by pressing start (pausing). I wonder if it'll be possible to get all the way to 999 even with that, though...

So you think that the Max points would work?

Just got 999 in skatingboard so that one's possible. (no, I didn't record it).

I made a movie of getting 999 in the skate challenge thanks to noitisnot's idea. Video.

One interesting aspect: IIRC, some microgames can be finished ahead of time and some last for shorter or longer periods. So, yes, this game potentially can be luck-manipped a very small bit. (BTW, someone did try this as a submission, but it was rejected.) What I'd love to see (as a 'superplay' movie) would be getting to 999 in any microgame stage. Preferably an entertaining one.

Wario Ware, Inc.: Mega Microgames$! [29:16.58] (元 / Ryuto138) Much time was cut down due to the use of resets. I think many of the mini-games could have been done more entertaining (for example, instead of finishing the games as fast as possible, finish them very close to the end). Otherwise it is a good TAS in my opinion.

Here is a link to my 2010 submission, time was measured to be 29:19.45. It used the US version as opposed to the JP version which Ryuto138 used. The JP version has a shorter intro and that's why Ryuto's movie is faster (at least that's the reason as far as I remember.) Main ideas to improve my run: - Use JP version - Use pausing to luck-manipulate the shortest minigames to appear right away. Then the semi-shortest minigames in the sped up mode. And then the semi-semi-shortest minigames in the more sped up mode. I might work on a run sometime, but it's a big maybe. Edit: Looks like minigames are fixed to their "speed modes" so you can't really save any time. Maybe later on in the game, but it's too negligible. I'm not going to rerun this game.

I'm working on a verification movie that has everything unlocked. All the stress of battling desyncs and removing junk input is about to pay off 'cause I'm a third of the way there. Unlocked all the VS games, Jump Forever, Skateboarding, and Paper Airplane. All I need is Dr. Wario, Flyswatter, Sheriff, Pyoro, and Pyoro 2 to ensure 100%.

Anyone remember this movie? Link to video There are cheat codes that can alter the game's speed, the timer's speed, the pitch of the audio, and the level. Levels higher than 3 can make the game even harder, maybe impossible, and some might crash. There are some minigames that's stable enough to handle it. The best of 'em all is Level 255 on Galaxy 2003. Probably would make a lua script that increases level based on score. Score is at 39DC and Level at 39D4 from IWRAM. Save data is in EWRAM 000010 to 000019 is the player's name, 00001A is the name length, 00001C is the player's sex. 000020 to 0000FF is the game modes, including high scores. 000100 to 0001FF are the microgames. 000200 to 0003FF are the high scores for the microgames.

You can unlock microgames for a genre, and it stops at a certain threshold even if there's ones still locked for that genre. Theory suggests it stops adding when you get to level 5. (level 4 is level 3 but slightly faster, level 5 is level 3 but more faster)

What Frame # should I reset in WarioWare Inc. Mega Microgame$ after I press Start for fast time?

Please give more context.
