Comments

One of my very first console game, came in the nes tmnt package. I remember having good time playing it before water section....then...the nightmare began...even years and years later in never pass this part...

Stage by stage comments

Many of the tricks demonstrated in this movie can be found at the TMNT Game Resources page.(thanks to Adelikat)
(take not that before i reach water section, lag reduction was kinda sacrificed (the story of ~6 frames) for sake of "adress1" counter

Area 1

Switch turtle at this moment is faster. Take damage on Bebop to reach 50% health for the extra damage boost.
You can kill the up and down guy faster is a problem, you will encounter the frog mid-boss(3 hits) instead of chainsaw guy(2hits). Keep jump button press before landing allow you to downward attack while sliding. Bye Rocksteady.

Area 2

Lag management. I try all sort of strats to kill the last bee sooner to avoid jumping, but failed. Manipulate Y sub for optimal jump/dodge (don't hurt plateform).
Water section : Man… Oh man… TODO

Area 3

Another wall i hit and make me redo from scratch number of times…"the homing head fire spitting Walking guy" "adress1" must be on… TODO Lag management Kill the first human torch guy will change the ennemy set, good thing at beginning since you gain tons of lag frames, but become a nightmare after to deal with... Take damage on mechaturtles for low health damage boost.

Area 4

Did i say lag management? Doing floating weapon glitch here give you the little pixel you need to pass the second pit. The sewer is a big lagging place so it was hard to optimize. I try my best to avoid lag. Scrolls route is not faster overall, even if damage boost bug is damn usefull (you will be 2~3 seconds behind after technodrome).

Area 5

Technodrome guardian : TODO

Area 6

TODO
thanks TODO

Maru: Great improvements. Accepting as an improvement to the published run.

I don't have time to read and understand what was improved but I watched it in hawk and it looked quite nice. Yes vote.
Warning: When making decisions, I try to collect as much data as possible before actually deciding. I try to abstract away and see the principles behind real world events and people's opinions. I try to generalize them and turn into something clear and reusable. I hate depending on unpredictable and having to make lottery guesses. Any problem can be solved by systems thinking and acting.

I should note that the SHA1 hash of the ROM used for the movie (6E4CD6FA5C1B2DF9EA78F85B95599BC4585CE9BB) does not match the one of the verified good ROM (89ADF2D9E453FC7FC491F968495C80C0C4A568D5). However, it syncs just fine on the latter (it could be it takes the hash of the ZIP rather than the unzipped ROM, but I'm not sure right now). Anyway, that was quite a pleasant watch, so I'm going to vote Yes. Note to other publishers/encoders: I'll be encoding and publishing this TAS once it gets accepted.

You'll have to edit the TMNT resource page since the floating shuriken glitch is done by someone other than Mike, and it is used as a last-input timesaver. (yes vote)

During the Shredder fight: If you place the floating shuriken a little lower, Shredder falls a bit and then hits it. However, if he takes his final hit on the shuriken while falling, he falls at an angle into the ground and explodes, effectively. This shortens his death animation. However, I'm not sure on the net difference in frames since he'll have to go a bit further for each shuriken hit. The original video I made which is posted on the TMNT resource page shows this. Edit: I just realized that the shorter death animation won't make a difference in the last frame input.... but would only (possibly) shorten the total video length.

That was highly amusing! As a kid I found this game inscrutable. Think the furthest I got was shortly after the underwater bomb mission.
