Yeah, I need to get rid of that in the final run. I'll to try to optimize future boss battles, so the battle will start as soon as possible.

It might be possible. In that part with the ice blocks that fly toward you, when I was under a platform and jumped over the blocks, it looked like I was ejected to the other side.

Sorry for the long delay, guys, I had lots of stuff to do. Anyways, I finished Frost Man's stage. Download the PXM here or watch it online here. This stage was a pretty fun to do. I hope you guys like it. I used the elevator parts to practice luck manipulating. The first one yielded good results, I got two weapon capsules by simply shooting at different times. The second one wasn't so friendly, though. I enabled the HQ3X filter on the emulator, in order to capture higher quality video, and will probably be using it in every following encode. Speaking of that, does anyone have encoding tips? I am currently getting good quality but pretty large file sizes, and these are taking quite some time to upload to YouTube, so if someone knows how to minimize the file size while keeping the video quality high, let me know!

Well, I think, by having less enemies and bosses, the PSX version is faster. I think it would be cool to TAS both versions, though. Cutman and Woodman might prove entertaining. I didn't see a Saturn emulator featured on the Emulator Homepages article, neither a category for Saturn games in the Movies and Submissions sections, so I'm assuming Saturn TASes are not being accepted at the moment.

I would do both the PSX and Saturn version, but is there even an re-recording enabled saturn emulator?

I got two screws there because it wouldn't waste time, I'm going to get about two more in Frost Man's stage, and another one on Clown Man's stage, in order to buy Hyper Slider as soon as it's available. About saving up Mega Balls, I'm not sure. I think it would be better to manipulate enemies so they drop energy capsules when killed, but I'm not sure how to do that. About the bosses, I attempted to luck manipulate, but I think it did not work all the time. Mini Boss seems to hurl junk at you when you are too far from it. If you're close, he seems to chase you with the pieces of junk spinning around him, usually following with junk throw. He only seems to go underground after he finishes throwing stuff at you, but he can choose to chase after you, or to throw junk at you again, instead of going underground. Grenade Man, when standing on the floor, seems to like firing grenades at you if you're far away, and jumping away if you're close. I didn't understand a pattern for his dash, if there is one, it should be abused.

It desynced? That's very strange... I tested it more times than I can count to make sure, and it played back flawlessly here. Also, what needs to be fixed in the intro stage, and what do you mean by the game not starting when it should? Anyway, you can watch it on YouTube, here.

I'm sorry, but I haven't been able to make any progress. It always desyncs when playing back, and I haven't been able to circumvent that problem. I'm going to upgrade my computer, formatting it on the process, so I'm thinking about restarting the test run using a newer version of PCSX-RR, but for now, I'm still trying to get things to sync properly, but it's not really working. If anybody could help me with it, I would be very grateful. Edit: Well, my save states were likely the cause of the problem. I just played the movie from the beginning, and I had no problems. I remade all the states, went to the end of Grenade Man's stage, and it played fine. But yeah, since the desync problems are eliminated, I'm now resuming work on it.

I liked your movement ^^ or is it possible to dodge some of those rolling crabs? can a Megaball kill such a crab instead of throwing it backwards?
Well, I think every time where it would be possible to dodge the enemies, I think getting hit and sliding past them would still be faster, but I still have to see about killing them with the Mega Balls, I'm not sure about that one. I think I could have saved a couple frames by being more precise with sliding and jumping. Also, I could have turned before getting hit, that way I would recoil to the right. By the way, while doing Grenade Man's level, I found that cancelling the slide by pressing the opposite direction, then sliding immediately, seems to be 1 frame faster, but I haven't actually verified that. I'm at Grenade Man himself already, and will finish it when I get home. Thanks for the support, guys. :) Edit: Well, after trying to play back my movie, I found out it had desynced again. I redid the sections, restarted the emulator, and tried playing it back again, but it desynced once more, but on a different spot. I made save states while the movie was playing back in real time, perhaps this is the cause of these problems?

Fixed, sorry. Edit: Well, hex editing didn't work at all, so I decided to redo that section. I'm still working on the mini boss, but I thought I'd release what's been done, download it here. I think I could have saved more Mega Balls to use on the mini boss. I'll upload it to YouTube when I complete the stage.

I uploaded a video of stage 1 to YouTube, which can be found here. I'm still trying to get the movie to sync, but I think I'm close. Also, thanks FractalFusion! That trick will really speed things up!

I just remembered about that one other boss - Wily 3 against the one that looks like an airplane with lasers. He's weak against Astro Crush. How many hits does it take with that to kill him?
That's the boss I was talking about, it takes more than 4 Astro Crushes to kill it, hence why it would be useful there. Oh I almost forgot, PreddY, you asked me which emulator and version of the game was used, I used an ISO whose code is SLUS00453, if your CD is of the US version of the game, it should work fine. I used PCSX Re-recording v0.0.7. Speaking of that, I see it has updated, and I probably should, too. Do you guys know if it is possible to continue work on the test run if I update the emulator?

btw, I would VERY much appreciate if you could provide small encodes of your WIPs, since I have no way of viewing your WIP for the emulator. Maybe you could tell me what Emulator I should use and if the original CD if MM8 in my drive would work, too or if I need the ISO :).
I have the stage 1 WIP on video, but when I upload it to YouTube, the video becomes corrupted. I think it's a problem with the codec, I used H.264 Lossless, maybe the site doesn't support it? I will re-capture it with using another codec when I get home.

How long is weapon energy for rush bike? if its considerably long, maybe it can help in some parts...but grenade mans level is too thin to use it i think. hm, you should really test how long it takes for both possible routes...maybe im wrong...for me tengu is faster, but maybe Chris is right.
The Rush Bike lasts for 40 seconds, and will be useful immediately, on the second part of Grenade Man's level. I think beating Tengu Man first would be slower, because, as previously stated, he is hard to hit, so I think it's better to have the weapon he is weak to beforehand. About the Energy Saver, I don't think it will be that useful. It saves time o Aqua Man, and maybe in some Wily bosses, but I think the time it takes to collect the bolts far outweighs it. I don't think the Mega Buster enhancements will be nescessary, the regular, rapid fire buster can already rip through most enemies very quickly and efficiently. The only place I think High Speed Charge would be useful is in the fight against Bass. In the videos I see, people always use the Mega Buster against him, so I'm assuming it is the best weapon for the fight, but I still have to comfirm that. If that's the case, it would be useful in that fight, but the time it takes to collect 7 bolts far surparses the time saved. Also, using the Mega Ball is much more efficient than climbing ladders, sometimes even jumping. It is an ability that should be abused as much as possible. That takes me back to the Energy Saver, because with it, there would be more ammunition available, but I think that problem can be solved by killing enemies for weapon energy capsules.

You acquire the Rush Bike in Grenade Man's stage. I am past the mini boss that gives it to you already, but the part with the green blocks which you have to destroy desynced. I'm trying to fix it right now. Anyway, Rush Bike will be useful in almost all of the stages. About the Bolts, I collected 2 in Grenade Man's stage, will collect 2 in Frost Man's, and will collect the final one on Clown Man's. By the way, do you guys think it's worth considering other power ups besides Hyper Slider, like the Energy Saver? I was watching a few videos, and it seems useful against some bosses in the Wily stages.

Well, I'm pretty surprised there isn't a run for this game yet, so I decided to try. I made an experimental run of the intro stage. The movie file can be downloaded here and viewed online here. The test run reaches the Stage Selection screen, from power on, in around 2 minutes and 19 seconds. I am sure it can be improved, movement can be more precise and those 13 remaining Mega Balls could be put to good use. Before continuing, I thought it would be wise to discuss whether to attempt to grab Bolts or not, because there is a power up after the first wave of Robot Masters that might be worth considering: the Hyper Slider. It costs 5 Bolts, and it boosts sliding speed. As for the bolts, there are some on the first four stages that do not require you to go out of your way to get them, but not grabbing them at all might be faster for some, and are faster for others. I have to see how fast Mega Man slides with and without the Hyper Slider first, though. Anyway, I am considering the following boss orders: Grenade Man -> Frost Man -> Tengu Man -> Clown Man. Tengu Man -> Clown Man -> Grenade Man -> Frost Man. Both boss orders are good in terms of Bolts. Grenade Man, Tengu Man have some really easy ones, and Frost Man has one that does not waste time. Both beat bosses in order of weakness, and the optimal run out of those two seems to be dependant on who can be beaten faster: Grenade Man or Tengu Man, since Hyper Slider is only available after the first wave of bosses. I think Tengu Man can be beaten faster, with enough luck manipulating. Plus, I think it's a lot easier to use Thunder Claw on Grenade Man than to use Ice Wave on Tengu Man, so that might be the best route.

I saw that Fractal Fusion submited a Mega Man X6 TAS. I'm curious about why he went through Shield Sheldon's stage. Wouldn't it have been faster faster if he went through Infinity Mijinion's stage to get Zero? Assuming Mijinion's stage is going to be visited twice, I think it would be faster to beat Commander Yammark first. His weapon can do a lot of damage to the robot's power cores in Mijinion's stage, and since they are going to have to be destroyed four times, I think that would outweigh the time battling Yammark as Zero would save.

I love Mega Man X6, and I want to contribute to this in any way I can. I think I discovered a trick that might be useful and/or save time. When one does a wall jump, and slashes with X's Z-Saber immediately after, the knock back of the wall jump seems to be completely negated. After the feat, one can either air dash to cancel the midair slash and gain horizontal speed or reattach to the wall, and repeat the trick, or follow with a normal wall or dash wall jump. Reattaching to a wall will cancel the slash. It is possible to climb up walls very quickly with this trick. To reproduce it, press X in one frame while close to the wall to perform the wall jump, then press triangle in the next frame. I made a video demonstration: YouTube You can download the movie file for PCSX-RR v0.0.7 here: MediaFire I don't know if it's faster than other methods, but I hope you guys find it useful.

There is problem with multi-core prcoessors for some people. If you do have a mult-core processor try: Run the emulator, ctrl-alt-del, and goto the 'Processes' tab. Right click on SNES9x.exe and select 'Set Affinity...'. Uncheck boxes until only one is checked.
I have a Quad Core processor. I tried that, and it works now. Thanks!! Edit: I've noticed that when you close the emulator, the affinity setting resets to default. (Four checked boxes) Is there a way to make the changes permanent?

Hello, I'm new here and I'm having problems trying to play this run of Rockman & Forte on my emulator. The emulator loads the ROM and movie file without any problem, but the emulator freezes in the character selection screen. Sometimes it plays the movie normally until a certain point in the first stage, then the emulator freezes. Both cases with a looping sound. In the author's comments, it says to use Snes9x v1.43-dev for Windows. I'm using Snes9x v1.43+ v10 for Windows. I'm not sure if that's the problem. I tried this run of Rockman & Forte and it worked completely fine. This is the only movie I'm having problems with. Anyone know what the problem is? If it's my emulator, where can I find the correct version for this movie? I can't seem to find the version mentioned in the author's comments in this site. Thanks in advance.
