The new glitch is pretty neat! Great World 2 WIP. I tested Cresta Run (second stage) recently and it's possible to reach the top platform without the ballon transformation by jumping to the top platform with precise timing. For Snow Falls (fourth stage) wouldn't be faster cancelling the ballon transformation (X button) then dying by touching that enemy next to the puzzle piece? Amazing trick near the end of Brass Monkeys stage and nice Boss 2 battle :)

Nice to see another TAS of this game after several years, when the NGP version was submitted in 2017 :) Getting orbs allows you to finish every stage as soon as possible, but it's also possible to force these orbs to start falling down immediately if you move the camera far enough away that the boss is fully offscreen - you can still control both players during the boss death animation. Btw, great job with the optimization and knownledge. Yes vote.

Finally a TAS of this game comes here. Nice tricks you've included on this run, especially during the boss fight. Btw, I didn't know some traps can be avoided by going straightforward without worrying at all. Great job guys and yes vote :)

Wow I didn't expect to see a finished TAS of this game so soon. Magnificent! But I have a question: during the final boss, it's not possible to attack twice per cycle like the NES version or the hard mode changed it? Meanwhile, Yes vote.

The engine of this game reminds me of Castle/Land of Illusion. I didn't expect to see a big improvement for this game. Amazing job finding new shortcuts! Yes vote.

I'm surprised the moving charge trick is more broken in this version this time. Great execution as always :) Yes vote.

Wow the laser weapon is powerful in this version. Nice research. While the NES version is very popular, the Arcade version is pretty impressive despite having "less levels" (I'm surprised the last stage "combines" the second half of the game into one stage). Nice job and yes vote.

While playing this game, I discovered an interesting trick: if you pause the game on the same frame Jelly Boy collects a puzzle piece, the collected puzzle piece text can be closed as soon as you unpause the game and press a button. If you return to a finished stage, this trick also allows start+select command usage. This can be useful for Mini Maze stage of world 1, for instance.

Great WIP. I'm surprised to see a walljump trick in this game. The routing looks great too. Keep it up.

Found this TAS a while ago: Link to video Since I already TASed the second Joe & Mac game years ago, why not TASing the first game too? Well I was interested on this game a long time ago but I never tried to TAS and I quickly forgot it due to several other games I was more interested to TAS, obviously. Here's a WIP, with 5 stages done: https://tasvideos.org/UserFiles/Info/638159941363021611 Encode: Link to video This WIP uses USA version while the other video uses Japanese version (which gains time on the title screen for about 1~2 seconds). Joe & Mac 1 looks straightforward but there's a lot of optimization I've managed to squeeze, found some interesting tricks on the full TAS mentioned above while discovering new tricks, as well as new strategies for some of the bosses.

Wow Jaffar even polished the gameplay by waiting much less between stages while bruteforcing the game. Very nice work. Yes vote.

The new glitch is totally unlikely to be discovered without deep game testing, at least for me. Great find! Glad the double hit trick is useful indeed - I didn't consider testing it on the second wolf fight too. I noticed you use all health during the coyote stage, being unable to use SA for the wrestler stage this time. I wonder if keeping some HP could save some time for each bell ring usage. Btw, nice work again and yes vote ;)

Sorry for double post, but I found another possible improvement for level 4 while playing this game: the last wolf fight can be finished with one less cycle if you explode a dynamite and kick him at the same time (frame perfect), resulting on 4 HP damage which is enough to kill him and avoiding a third cork plug usage. EDIT: This trick doesn't work with Spin Attacks for unknown reasons.

Nice observation, on the teleport landing! I just tried it and it works! I'll update it in the following days. For the dragon knight fight, you said there is a way to hit him with a spin attack? Can you show me an example please? I tried and can't seem to make it work. Thanks!
Exactly. And there's an example:

What a pleasant suprise for me. I wanted to do a TAS of this game a long time ago but never made any progress except finding boss hp addresses and testing some stuff. This TAS is well planned and executed, being aware the health management is the main objective of this game. Great work! Also I noticed two things: 1 - The third boss looks unreachable for a Spin Attack but surprisingly it does work if you're very close to his spear. Not sure why. 2 - At the end of level 5, you can avoid the landing animation on the teleporter exit by not letting off the left button, finishing this level a bit faster. Meanwhile, yes vote. P.S: Throwing dynamites while crouching caught me surprise. I played this game several times and I didn't know this mechanic exists until now lol

Glad to see a new CT TAS :) Despite being a two-hour run, 43 seconds of improvement is pretty good and you did a great job with this game. Yes vote.
