Interestingly, the perfect dump compresses to 1.12 gb, whereas the other was 335 mb.
If you're planning on uploading it somewhere, it might be a good idea to post the MD5 on the download page, so people like me won't have to download half a dozen ISOs only to find that they're all the same bad dump.

So if my movie syncs on both the perfect dump and the nearly-perfect, widely-available dump, then I guess I don't have to worry about people being unable to play back my movie despite not owning the game. And if something like that happened anyway, they will always have the encode to watch. OK, I'll start working on Chapter 1 then.

I have the problem SoulCal is having: The audio syncs fine with the video until a loading screen comes up. Then the audio is ahead of the video. I had to edit the encode of my Prologue every time some kind of loading screen happened so that the audio would sync with the video again.

That's very encouraging. I may be able to pick up working where I left off. Thanks for testing my movie on the new dump.

I'm on the HomeBrew channel, and CleanRip is not showing up. I tried extracting the .dol file into a single folder called "CleanRip", and it still doesn't show up.

OK, I installed the Homebrew Channel. Do I need to install BootMii?

I figured that would happen. The reason I checked my MD5 today was because I noticed that the health and safety screen took a while to appear. Edit: Um, you deleted that sentence. Never mind.

OK, I'll just move Smash Stack and CleanRip to my 2GB SD card, then move my custom Brawl stages to the SD card, then run it, open up CleanRip in HBC and dump the ISO. Is that right?

Oh, OK. So I will have to wait 24 hours in order to use Smash Stack, right?

OK, so I install BootMii (Homebrew Channel), then CleanRip, then Smash Stack, then run CleanRip? Is Smash Stack necessary? That wiki page says I must wait 24 hours for the Smash Service files to be deleted.

How will I store the dumped GC ISO once it's dumped? Would I need a 2 GB SD card?

The firmware is the newest updated version. Also, according to this page, the incorrect MD5 appears to be an error with the old dumping process or a program used for it.

Actually, upon further inspection, all of the ISOs I checked seem to be the same dump up for download on many diverse websites. It's weird that no one ever uploaded the correct dump. Is there a quick way to modify a Wii, dump the game, and un-mod it?

That's what mine is too. And yes, it looks like every online ISO of the US version of this game has that MD5. I own the game, but my Wii is not modded in any way, and I don't plan on modding it to dump this game since my whole family uses it and it might get messed up (who knows?). OK, well I'll continue on the ISO I have. I hope the judges/everyone else will understand.

So I looked up the MD5 for this game on redump.org, and I assume it's the correct MD5 for the US version. The thing is, my ISO's MD5 does not match the redump.org MD5, and I've downloaded and checked 4 other ISOs of the same version, and they all have the same MD5 (which is not the correct one). Am I to assume that there are no good dumps of this game on the Internet, and, if I had one, anyone who wanted to watch my run who didn't have the game could not watch it?

How does the game determine if a glitched exit will appear out of bounds or not? Can it be manipulated somehow? (I've never TASed this game, so I don't know how it works.)

I haven't been watching the WIPs, since I've been working on my own TAS, but I'm glad you're making such progress improving the published run! I'm planning to watch the run when it's done, so I look forward to the submission! It's too bad the autoscrollers cause you so much trouble with lag, but it's a good thing there aren't more of them. The GBA version of Creature from the Krusty Krab is mostly autoscrollers, so I fear that game won't ever make for an interesting TAS. Good luck reducing the lag!

I like the cutscene-less encode, Vykan12. I don't mind the cutscenes in the normal run, but the run looked good without them too!

Voting No because the run is not optimized, as goofydylan8 just said. XTREMAL93, please optimize the run and then submit the finished movie after you have taken your time and made sure it's not improvable.

Very nice improvement! I enjoyed the new route, and it's still funny to watch the map as you launch upwards through all of the castle rooms. Yes vote.

I like the one with Yoshi licking the key because it doesn't really give anything away (that key was collected in the last any% run too) and it's a funny and slightly confusing shot (one would think: "Why is Yoshi eating the key and hovering over the pit?").

This makes me have to vote No. You can't just copy Randil's hard work, switch ROM versions, cut out some text scrolling, and call it your run.

I think that precedent on the site says: 1. Use the (U) rom *in most cases* 2. Shorter text is not a valid reason to use (J) rom
It's also in the site rules. Shorter text in the J rom is not currently a reason to obsolete a run, especially if this run is slower but is faster because of less text (I don't know if this is the case; I haven't watched the run yet). Either way, we need McBobX to answer GeoCorn's question and tell us why he used a different version.

Amazing run! I enjoyed reading the in-depth submission text along with the video. All that work really paid off! Yes vote!
