I'm not dead. Mu is completed. At this point, the run (remember, it's an "All jewels" run) is 32 seconds and 26 frames FASTER than the any% run currently published. That's 1946 frames FASTER than the any%. Enjoy.

Hmm.. I voted meh. Reason 1: The game kinda sucks ... you have to have played it to like the TAS. (I played it, therefore I had a chance of liking the TAS) Reason 2: You can improve tomato throwing by at least 3 seconds (I just tested it and I saved 179 frames, 1 frame short of 3 seconds). I can't imagine how much could be saved in the egg throwing... Too bad I didn't see it before, but here's how: You can aim in the middle... You have 5 directions of aim: Left, Left-middle, middle, Right-middle, Right. Just press "Up+Left" and you'll throw between the left and middle rows. Here's an SMV showing the improved tomato throwing: link. Still... that's just a demonstration. It's not the perfect tomato throwing session because there are still "hesitations" in there. I think it can be done with constant throwing action. Anyway ... not a bad movie, but it can be improved and the game isn't that great for people who never played it. Meh vote.

It's pretty rare to see puzzle games that make good entertaining TASes. Even though I didn't know the game, I liked this movie a lot. Congrats, Nitro! Yes vote from me.

You have to check "Raw data" in the input settings.

As a long time watcher of all these wonderful movies, and a lurker of the forums, I'd encourage all of you to put up a good, solid set of FAQs on this site for those new to TASing. I've been thinking for awhile that I'd like to try my hand at this, but frankly have no real idea on where to start, and what programs I should be using.
How about these FAQs: "Emulators homepage": http://tasvideos.org/EmulatorHomepages.html "Using emulator tools": http://tasvideos.org/UsingEmulatorTools.html and all the "Movie making" section of the FAQ: http://tasvideos.org/FAQ.html#movie_making_ I think we already have a "good, solid set of FAQs" :)

OMG! Awesome! Can't wait for the final completed run! If that one doesn't get a star ... I don't know what will :) Keep up the great work!

When using VLC, the video would be almost totally unwatchable. Stutters and everything, as mentioned by other people. So I tried watching it with Windows Media Player 10 with FFDshow codec installed, and it worked fine, except for the sound which sometimes is too loud (mainly on star selection screens) and then comes back to normal volume. Weird... at least I got to watch it completely.

You know, the main reason why I can make TASes such as Earthbound, Illusion of Gaia and in a near future Lufia II is thanks to Nitrodon. As he masterfully showed everyone here, he's a little code ninja :) He can read SNES ASM and understand exactly how things work and hence how to manipulate litteraly EVERYTHING, assuming he has the will to do so. Nitrodon is really a great teammate to have for a TAS that requires a lot of luck manipulation. And we both like RPGs, so we're a great team for this. I tip my hat to you, Nitrodon. I really appreciate "working" with you :) (This is a little off-topic, I know, but he's the only reason I even consider TASing Lufia II) To be back on topic, at the beginning of our test run, we wondered if we were going to go to the Ancient Cave or not. That's one of the reasons why he looked into that part of the code. We soon found out there was no need to, but that's another story. When we came around that part of the game where we have a choice to either go to the ancient cave or go on with the adventure, we took a little break (maily exhaustion from TASing almost non-stop). He took that opportunity to look deeper and deeper in the ancient cave code. At least .. that's what I think happened :) I could be wrong. Correct me if I am, Nitro.

My favorite part of the run: Mario climbing the steeps slopes on his belly while making a "rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr" sound :) Hilarious! Great run! (An obvious yes vote)

Wow. Just wow. I don't like this game. I playe it, but I always hated it and I always thought it was a boring game and stuff. This TAS brought this game back to life for me. I LOVED the TAS. Definitively a YES vote from me, even though I don't like the game at all. Great TAS.

I'm having problems too... The file downloaded from the latest WIP link is 95 060 bytes long... clearly not enough to be the whole WIP. It ends input during the moogles fight, slightly after getting Locke. Maybe it's a problem with microstorage? EDIT: Nevermind. Dehacked solved the problem. It was a microstorage problem.

Voted yes. The run is short, entertaining, and that "missed fatality" near the end was hilarious! Great TAS. One of the few that can be considered a "good Fighting game TAS".

That's not a TAS ... that's a speedrun... Voted no. Doesn't respect the rules of this site.

1) No. 2) She knows that I TAS, yes, but she doesn't like it. She would if I did something more useful to society or something... 3) She knows what a TAS is (I had to explain for a full hour how it was not cheating and stuff though). She has seen only 1, and that's the sonic 2 (genesis) TAS. That's the only game she cares about. Now you all know more about my girlfriend. ;)

It seems like opinions are different for everyone. Some people like it, some don't. It's almost a 50-50 ratio. All in all, an option to choose what layout we prefer (via the profile settings) would be the only way to please everyone. You could leave the two-columns layout as the default one.

Hmm... I really liked the "old" layout better. However, I think I might be able to get used to the new one, given a few months... If this was a "New forum layout - yay or nay" topic, I'd vote nay.

There's a new feature on the site where you can see "More movies", "History of this entry" and "Similar movies". I just found a bug with this feature. It's nothing "big", but I figured I might report it anyway. When you arrive on the page, it's originally on "More movies". You then click on "History of this entry", and the stuff changes, but then if you click on history again, the bottom of the page will change ... It's hard to explain, so here's two screenshots: 1) First click: http://halamantariel.homeip.net/Image1.jpg 2) Second click: http://halamantariel.homeip.net/Image2.jpg As I said, it's no big deal, but I like to report the bugs I find, since that's what I would want users of my website to do (if I had a website). Oh by the way, that's in Firefox. I haven't tested this with IE. ----- EDIT: And it seems that the tracker stats aren't showing anymore either...

Untrue. You could get the highest possible amount of money/food in the shortest amount of time. It's equivalent to Sim City, except with a time limit.
Yeah but basically you HAVE to do 2 full years for the game to end. Even if you slept all days up until the end of the game, it would take a very long time. Plus, it would be incredibly repetitive. The same actions over and over and over and over again...

These look incredibly fake to me. I mean, just look at the HP of the characters in the 2nd set of screenshots. Their HP is above their MAX HP, which obviously shows that he used cheat codes to get there. Therefore, it's very likely he used cheat codes to make that Shadow Zero spell appear or something.

That one had 215 rerecords. My argument was that 153 was not enough ;) Anyway .. I got the point :) My argument is now that 153 is not enough for ALMOST ALL games.

Considering the previous ssb movie attempt got a score higher than this (2,144,192) in less than half the time, this is a poor attempt. No vote, for several reasons including missed attacks, poor playing, and complete non-use of frameadvance (or even 3/6% speed).
Amen. (I also voted "No", for the same reasons) Oh and ... 153 re-records. Obviously not enough for any TAS of any game on any console.
