That's a dirty little trick you found there! Getting tetrises without a long piece, cheater! ;) Interesting that dropping down to level 18 actually results in a faster time due to this trick. I love when the counter intuitive prevails.

What about this trick?
Already documented on the tricks page and discussed in the tmnt thread on the forums. It doesn't save actual time only input time. On the contrary it costs a lot of time. It only works with Mike who I killed in level 3. To not kill him would require killing Leo instead (resulting in extra turtle switches) or forgo the Raph glitch to get the ropes in level 4. In addition I would need more turtles switches at some point to snag a shuriken drop for Mike. All in all, about 4 seconds of real completion time would be lost for the sake of ending input early.

At 0:48 in the above video, would it have saved a frame or two to start walking the moment the screen would progress instead of walking until the screen progressed?
No it would not have saved time.

Hi, encoders! We've recently created the Unstreamed Movies page, listing those movies which do not have a Streaming Media link. If you're looking for encoding work to do, consider encoding a movie and uploading it to a streaming media site and post it in the submission thread so that we can link to it!
Yes, but if it is Unmirrored PLEASE upload to archive.org as well, that's highest priority!

I didn't know users could upload to screwattack like that or I would have already done this. But here we go, let's see what happens; http://screwattack.com/shows/TASVideos

We are a site all about outside the box thinking. Petty little things like "Chess rules" are soooo inside the box.

But this isn't a chess tournament! It is a TAS, and TASes are all about going outside the "rules". Rules say you can't go through walls, the TASers pushes right through those walls. We are TASers, we don't like to be bound by such confining things as "rules"

This is a good game, with good graphics and music, and its 2-player. Those are all positives to making it a good game choice. However, beat em ups like this are often a problematic genre for TASing. This is because they often involve spamming the most powerful move over and over in order to achieve the fastest time. I think this movie demonstrates this problem very well. It is far too repetitive and watching it becomes increasingly dull and eventually a bit annoying. In contrast to Golden Axe I that has hilarious abuse of the enemy AI and a variety of moves, this shows off one really effective move for the entirety of 22 minutes. Therefore I am rejecting this movie. I am not convinced the game is unpublishable though. More variety is needed, and I think sacrificing time for that variety is likely needed. Also, the technique GreenaLink posted should be looked into. It would create variety, and all the better if it were actually faster.

This is a first time submitter and a rather large improvement to a published movie. I feel like this thread shows an unusual amount of hostility by the authors to him for having done this. And mentions of possible improvements are in the line of "Angerfist & Sonikkustar" are going to improve this. Why not the author himself? I don't like how this was handled. This is a big improvement, and an easy yes vote. Thanks you Keirden for this.

Don't use new PPU for TASes.
Awwwwwwwww, Why not?
Because while it should be more accurate in theory, in reality it still has some bugs, ones that may affect a TAS negatively.

I didn't realize that you were using new PPU for the purposes of speeding up the intro. Don't use new PPU for TASes. As far as joint...sure... I still think my 18 second movie is better :P

Not only that, but a chess speedrun wouldn't really have replay value,
Even more to the point, it doesn't have any _play_ value. What is featured in a TAS that can't be featured in a move list? On the internet there's even programs where you can click through a move list and see the board configuration. Those are much better suited to show anything any kind of real game.

Yep, still boring :). I think the only way this game would really have a chance of being published is if the pieces were set to 2D in the options menu. That way you don't get really long animations.
I agree, except then what's the point of doing battle chess? Might as well stick to chessmaster.

1 e4 e5 2 Qh5 Nc6 3 Bc4 Nh6 4 d4 exd4 5 Bxh6 gxh6 6 Qxf7# Half the moves of this TAS. However, I wouldn't be voting yes for a movie of that either. Like people have said, this is a snails pace. More boring than the usual chess TAS. Also this game can get pretty glitched out with the take back feature, that might be more useful for making an interesting TAS. The problem with these primitive AI's on easy difficulty is that they always fall for a quick kill like that; usually an aggressive queen opening.

Uh, there's a youtube link in the submission text. But I can understand how you missed it given all that text. Anyway, I watched it, and I loved it. I thought maybe it would be too boring (1841 rooms!) but you managed to glitch away so many and blow through the rest so quickly. It got especially more interesting towards the end when you got to feature a powered up alucard.

I green light this. Can you type up a description for each one? It should probably also be mentioned that award "Ceremonies" happen every year in January and are voted on by the audience. Perhaps link to an old topic as an example.
