I'm scrimpeh and I approve this submission. I watched some wips so far, thus I'm confident this submission will get an easy yes from me. Came together beautifully.

Welcome to TASVideos! It's great to see a new TASer join our community. However, unfortunately your submission doesn't meet our rules and regulations. Specifically, * Insert bulleted list of problems here. For these reasons, I am cancelling your submission. If you feel I've made a mistake, please contact me by clicking on the "PM" button at the bottom of this post. Otherwise, please don't give up! We're happy to help you refine your work. Make a new thread in the Newbie Corner, or find the existing thread for your game of choice, and we can give you feedback on how to make a truly great TAS.
That's not a bad idea overall. I only think it should be worded in a way that's easy to machine-translate.

'lo and welcome, MuffinRobot, to tasvideos, enjoy your stay! Couldn't exactly tell you what game to TAS first, though my recommendation would be Super Mario Bros. It's a neat a simple game great for learning some of the concepts of TASing. It also has some very optimized runs that serve as a base and is thus, very well documented. There are other games in its mold, but I think SMB has the best blend to it. So, have fun.

A Starman from Earthbound I traced from an ingame sprite eons ago with Flash. I like it, obviously. <- My old avatar, for I've since replaced it. My current avatar is a picture of Pinkie Pie, which I traced much the same way. Current avatar is Fluttershy from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. With sunglasses. (Image link) Lynne, A Targeted Redhead, from Ghost Trick. Sunglasses. (Image link) This is my current set of avatars. I plan to expand it as I think of more characters to add. See if you begin to spot a theme: <A bunch of dead links> From left to right: - Lynne, from Ghost Trick - Fluttershy, from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic - XJ9, from My Life as a Teenage Robot - Mabel Pines, from Gravity Falls - Roll, from Mega Man - Shantae

That category has the potential of creating runs that are longer than their predecessors due to more exits that are proven to be possible small only. What matters in the end is the more interesting movie, and that, in my opinion, is small max%, it shows off more of the game and showcaes clever tricks to reach exits thought impossible to reach without help.

Finally got a chance to watch the run now that I'm back from vacation. Your updated route looks fantastic. As far as the technical aspect of the run, the movements and attacks look spot on. Only one question/comment about the holy water: If memory serves, the holy water doesn't halve the bosses HP value; holy water doubles sub-weapon damage to bosses. Why grab it on LEVEL 4 blob fight? I'm too lazy to re-teach myself all the openMSX commands and test it real quick, but I thought I tried this once in the past.
I double checked it, Holy Water does indeed directly affect boss health in RAM. Thanks for the great response by the way, don't think this would've gotten anywhere without your help.

Hey, Infinite Combos, and welcome to tasvideos. Hope you enjoy your stay! Before submitting a movie, please verify that your movie meets the rules and Guidelines. (That means that it should be the fastest of its kind) Otherwise it'll most likely be rejected. If your movie's good to go, you should be able to submit here, you may need to log on in the site itself, I'm not too sure about that.

So I watched the 120 star WIP. Didn't like the camera angles, would vote No.

I'd really love to see a perfect runthrough of Hell Temple, that's a given. Still, iirc you have to complete it three times, That may not only get long, but also boring.

I'd be interested in working on the game if I'm able to get hourglass working properly. After all, there already is a speedrun on SDA that can be used as reference. The zombie lemeza glitch looks interesting, though I don't think it would make a very entertaining TAS, just running through everything.

Hello, Joemenix, I hope you enjoy your stay. Good luck with that Metroid run, you may find this page to be pretty useful on the game. As Lex said, keep in mind the current Metroid runs are very well optimized, so keep that in mind. So, best of luck with your projects.

I noticed in world 5 the jump to the third stone was -started- when it appeared as opposed to finished. Could that be changed to save a fraction of a second?
Nope, I tried it out. The stones won't appear if you're in mid-air

* Iirc you can switch between the two in the menu without wasting any additional time and the differences between the two don't come into play anymore, so Ziggy probably did it for aesthetical reasons.
That still doesn't change that I'm pretty sure you could skip the last pause (which does take time) if Popolon's health had been refilled earlier. Unless contact damage with Galious is really ridiculously high, Popolon should have plenty left to take that last hit. Thanks for the link to the NES run.
Heh, you're right. I'll replace the submission with the faster file, thanks. (To explain, Galious kills you in three hits if you have a full health bar, so I just switch to Aphrodite earlier to let her take the last two)

@ mth I tried that myself but couldn't beat ziggy's time in doing so. @ Derakon * The Room in World 9 is the only place where the dagger really could concretely save some time, and even so, we deemed it would not be worth it if the bats are manipulated well. It's worth looking into it more, but I think the manipulation is more entertaining to begin with. * Iirc you can switch between the two in the menu without wasting any additional time and the differences between the two don't come into play anymore, so Ziggy probably did it for aesthetical reasons. * A TAS of the NES version has been submitted years ago, but rejected. Look here. Perhaps today people will be kinder to it. Anyway, thanks everyone for the great feedback

Holly hell, that's some extensive planning right there, and a yes for that already. Needless to say, I also liked the run itself, so here's a pretty big yes from me.

Link to video While I still have some route and weapon testing to do (as in, are the Special Weapons worth a damn against bosses), I already decided to share a bit of what may be awaiting you. Luck manipulation is the biggest pain in making this movie, because there isn't any. See those random noises on the start-up screen? Yeah, that's literally the entire extent (to my knowledge) that I can manipulate certain enemies by, including timers for bats and skeleton bones, which I may need for damage boosts. Anyway, enjoy and tell me what you think.

A beautiful Metroidvania game by Bit-Blot. You are Naija, a sea-creature kind of thing. The game has a pretty big emphasis on story, though I don't think it gets in the action much. In typical metroidvania fashion, Naija can find new forms that allow her to reach new areas of the world. There are warps and save points are scattered across the map. Thoughts?
