Welcome to Wario World! I have always had an interest in this game since I have a thing for collect-a-thons. And WW delivers pretty well in that department. It isn't an extremely long game (any% or 100%), but it is still very fun IMO. Any% WIP: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-l6ADLpFkU Sadly, I can't continue this due to lack of emulation support. But when the issues get fixed, I would love to finish this TAS.

I had thought about doing this game since seeing some speedrun routes for 100%. It's definitely TAS material. Have you thought about trying boost+jump? I don't know if there's quite as much delay when landing as boosting on the ground, but even if so, perhaps it'll save more time since you're spending more time being in 'boost mode' in the air, and thus over a longer time there's less delays.

That was the first Wario game I enjoyed seeing and getting tas treatment. I hope team Dolphin fixes the bugs asap so you can continue. But hey, don't you have that Sonic GameCube game to tas? :P

Wow that was far more interesting to watch than I expected (played through the game once, then never touched it again) Keep it up! :)

Yeah, that's something we need to test if emulation for this game gets fixed. You do slow down a bit when you jump, but the small delay between dashes might make it worth it.

So now that emulation of this game is fixed, myself, mapler, and itsPersonnal are gonna go ahead and start this project. I just tested today whether memory cards are faster or not and if soft resetting after levels is a possibility. For the first, after spending a few minutes looking at our options, it appears using a memory card and simply not saving is the best choice. As for soft resetting, it is much slower because it requires saving and going all the way back to power on. Not sure if too many games are like SA2:B where it saves the memory in some kind of cache even without memory cards AND it resets to the title screen. Oh well. It still looks like a great game to TAS and we're all looking forward to starting. Edit: Found this video that shows you can simply pause and exit levels after the final hit of a boss. Awesome! ^_^

Would someone with more memory searching knowledge be willing to find Wario's speed? Both itsPersonnal and I have tried multiple times, but with no success (we've found ones in other games though...).

Here's a brand new TAS of 1-1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=irQpKA4Apb8 It uses a new trick I found that lets you jump over...well, basically anything. Edit: 60 FPS version for those that care (make sure to click "2.0x" on the player): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fx2LhO7YrHQ&html5=True

I've played this game a lot, so I was really excited for this. I had intentions to do speedruns of this game, but never really got around to it. A shame really, now that I think of it. Anyways, I recall managing to glitch through a boss statue, by having two red crystals be on the statue and then buttstomp between them. It only really happened once and I don't know if it requires all crystals or just two, but this should definitely be worth looking into. It's also possible to skip ALL the battle arenas in this, but this is probably old news. Keep it up! I'll definitely keep checking up on this and see if I can remember any cool speedtricks from when I was playing this.

I think that exceeds "worth looking into"! XD That theoretically means that an any% would be getting 1 crystal in each level while abusing my super jump find to beat it as quick as possible. Thanks for the heads up, I'll definitely see what I can find! Edit: Do you recall what level it happened in?

I am glad to see Wario (who I think is better then Mario) is getting another broke as hell TAS. I have played this game on my PC and it's so fun. I look forward to seeing it broken.

I noticed one time while playing that when buttstomping between the crystals while the game was placing them on the statue that you could make the door flap open. I thought it was funny so I did it everytime on the boss statues, and one time I just passed through. I cannot recall which level it was, sadly. The issue, like I mentioned earlier, is that I don't know if it requires all crystals required to open the statue, or just two. I recall the door not even flapping when arriving with less crystals than required to finish the level, but I might be wrong on this. I cannot say that I did much research on this, given that I only managed to do it once when I pretty much tried it everytime I reached a statue. I'll try to get my hands on my brothers Wii and see if I can't dick around with these things again. Though this will probably have to wait until the weekend.

Any luck with that glitch, Kriole? I think it would be helpful if you could remember how many crystals the statue was "asking" for (that's why I asked what level, if you didn't know). On another note, I am finished with the 1-2 boss and am now moving onto DinoMighty. I'll post a WIP after entering 2-1 so I can get some feedback. Edit: Lol, right after posting this, I went and tested with all the crystals and managed to drop through. Should save some time in every level! Thanks a ton, Kriole!! I got it to save over 3 seconds in level 1 already. ^_^ Edit 2: Here's a short video showing how seamless it is: http://www.mediafire.com/?ippez1so2hh0lvw

That's excellent news, well done :D Do you reckon it's possible to do so earlier? The clip you showed at 2 crystals up, maybe it's possible earlier, or was this just a demonstration? Also I remembered another trick which might save time on some bulkier monsters and maybe even bosses- instead of comboing to a firepunch, you delay between the second and third hit to get a regular hit. I noticed this was faster on monsters who weren't knocked out by the firepunch, to avoid them entering the invulnerability period. I might be wrong though, something you probably have to test yourself. Unless you already know this stuff, that is. Looking forward to the rest of this game. I don't know if I can recall all the tricks and sequence breaks I found while playing this game, but I'll try and see what I can remember.

Afaik, you need the amount of crystals the statue requests so the door will move. Notice in the clip the third crystal is actually activating as I go through the door. I couldn't get it to work with less so I don't think it's possible, but maybe I'm missing something. Regardless, it's a cool timesaver and definitely adds even more entertainment value to the run. ^^

I Don't know if you got my message on Twitter ,but there are 2 things me and Dangerless have found that a TAS could miss. 1 is Dangerless found a way to clip underground in a few areas with the balloons towards the end near the Boss Statues just by jumping on them and getting them lower and lower. He may have a video that can show this demonstration and we hope and wonder if there is a way to get to the boss without any of the crystals. 2 is I messed around a bit with the super jump in 2-2 Wonky Circus on the big red/white tent in the beginning near the first electric gate, but when I fell into the pits then recovered out of it, it placed me right next to where the 2nd crystal entity mini boss would be. Which is way off to the first part of the lower level in 2-2. I was hoping to find and OoB around there somewhere so we could skip the 2-2 arena, but this wrong placement could put us somewhere else like after the arena, but so far no luck. I'll be trying to get a video of mine once i can replicate it. It could be just a stroke of luck, but it IS there.

As Omega says, there's two levels which may be possible to enter the boss seal without the crystals. However, I can't confirm if you can actually trigger the loading zone or if it even exists. Though it may be worth a deeper look into. Horror Manor http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mGy0__DfBXA Beanstalk Way http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3uzvzcSfdnI
