Hello! I made a TAS with the bsnes core in bizhawk but its very laggy for my PC and can barely run, the Snes9x core seems to be running faster though. I tried to change the core mid-run but it still shows as the bsnes core. How can I change the cores after making the TAS?
I'm new to actually making these, although I had a blast making my first TAS. Might continue, we'll see.

Changing cores means you will be using different emulation, and your run is likely to desync because of it. Just so you’re aware. Is your TAS finished or still a work in progress?

I do understand that, although the run doesn't do any frame perfect tricks so I doubt it would make a BIG difference anyways. It's finished btw.

It's finished. Should I post the file here?

If it’s finished, then there’s no need to change cores. Emulation stays deterministic even if it doesn’t run at full speed for you. If you truly believe it’s ready for submission, then go ahead and submit. Just make sure you read the rules before doing so: http://tasvideos.org/MovieRules.html

the main reason why i asked the question is because i plan on recording the movie as a video file. im 100% sure it wouldnt be accepted anyways and I dont have plans to submit it.

If you use the avi/wav dumping system built into bizhawk, emulation speed is irrelevant aside from just waiting for it to complete.
[16:36:31] <Mothrayas> I have to say this argument about robot drug usage is a lot more fun than whatever else we have been doing in the past two+ hours
[16:08:10] <BenLubar> a TAS is just the limit of a segmented speedrun as the segment length approaches zero

Just to further build on Memory's reply, the speed of an AVI dumped video is not dependent on the speed the emulator runs at because it records the content at the emulated console's speed, not your computer's speed. So if such an AVI was played back, it should show the content in a speed similar to a real console. (the emulator has to run all the game logic that determines how gameplay works, while the video only has to play back a prerecorded set of images and sound)
