I'm looking for competition here, and the more complex it is, the more visual the differences are. Sure, it will be harder to get a publishable material in 1 week for a complex game, but I'm looking for a good contest, not a publishable movie.
I agree with this.

I'm on the fence with this one. I could use some more opinions/votes. I uploaded it to dailymotion for easy access: http://www.dailymotion.com/user/TASVideos/video/xajnt4_submission-pce-legendary-axe-in-134_videogames

But most companies who made these games are not making ANY money off of these game( and if they are, From the Wii virtual console, then very little). Why should they care how there used? IF we were doing this for games that were out today, and downloading them illegally, then it would be wrong.and they would have a case.
What about our DS TASes? Game boy Advance? We are also on the verge of having Gamecube & Wii TASes and possibly even PS2.

I think it's important to suggest that you don't need to TAS here to contribute. Encoding, Coaching, even voting on submissions is helping out.
Good point. They should be linked to this page: http://tasvideos.org/Helping.html Also that page could have some stuff added to watching. Like a user could watch WIPs on the forum and give helpful feedback or just general encouragement.

The goal is not to educate. If nothing else, because that can't be done in a short entertaining promotional video. The goal is to make them drool then click on the site for more information. Once they click one the site, then all their education will start. (Hint: In its current state the site fails at this. But I hope to change that)

I forgot to mention the different version in the 1st post. The "real version" is the version not on youtube. I don't want to go into detail but let's just say youtube didn't like that version, so we came up with a youtube friendly version. As far as which version I will be promoting it will be the original (non-youtube) one.

Better there be a hundred stupid comments to every useful one than none at all.
I'm confused. What is this "Useful youtube comments" you speak of? I've never heard of such an object.
If the purpose of the video is to reach a lot of people though, there should probably be a lot more tags added to it (like all the relevant game and author names).
Yeah, I don't really know what I am doing when it comes to tags. Probably stems from the fact that I am terrible at coming up with key words when searching for things myself. Every game sounds reasonable. I don't know about the authors. Someone who has never heard of TASes is going to do a search for "HappyLee"?

Rather than everyone stating an opinion on what segments should have been in it. Let's talk more about what to do with it. I would like it imbedded on the site. Perhaps the homepage, perhaps our why and how. Any opinions? Also, I'm considering making it a torrent download as well (high quality version). Also, perhaps adding it to other streaming media sites that we don't have an account on.

There was a promotional video made many years ago, but it is long overdue for a new one. So Cardboard and I collaborated and created a new TASVideos promotional video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0mregEW6kVU&t=5s The goal was to try to show off a lot of inhuman gameplay as well as show as much variety of platforms as possible. Feel free to use this thread to nitpick it to death. Just keep in mind there are a LOT of mind blowing moments on TASVideos and I can't put them all in. Some got in, some didn't. Ask 20 TASers, and they would pick 20 different moments that are different from the other 20 peoples moments. There is not way to have a consensus so try to stay civil with the "I think x should be have been in there not y". Also keep in mind you aren't the target audience. The goal is to expose people who have never seen or heard of a TAS.

Doh it again would be far more of a headache than final fantasy 4. How about taking a stab at obsoleting one of the SNES runs on this list? http://tasvideos.org/MoviesToObsoleteFrom2004.html

Never heard of (and thus never thought about) this game. However, it is a sega RPG so DarkKobold should be all about this one!

I love these suggestions. Can we make a new wiki page to put these questions on? And a link to them in a thread in this forum.

Now that we have greatly expanded the consoles that are TASable, we have a lot of new uncharted water. Perhaps we could explore a completely unTASed, unspeedrun(ran?) game on one of these platforms? I'd love to participate. However, I probably wouldn't be able to find a week that I could devote enough time until December :(

If you are uploading to youtube, why do you care about how high the kbps are? Won't it get re-encoded by them anyway? If you really need lower quality, capture with x264 and use a quantizer setting other than 0.

http://www.youtube.com/OfficialTASVideos Well, it is long overdue but I created us a youtube account! Given the length caps, I hope to use this channel less for hosting all our movies and more for hosting our premium short movies or clips from longer movies. Also, I will be putting a promotional video here and perhaps some TAS tutorials (hint: we need people to make these). I don't have a detailed plan if anyone has any other ideas.

Donating to the site would certainly be a blessing for us. And if they are paying for popular movies, maybe we should be uploading to the TASVideos youtube account :o

http://tasvideos.org/1337M.html A MKV publication mirrored on archive.org. This was uploaded by Phil. Perhaps they weren't in the past, but at least now we can get MKV files on archive.org. So I would like to get all of our movies mirrored there. I know ZeXr0 had already done a lot of them, but only the AVI ones, and this was a year and a half ago: http://www.archive.org/details/TASVideos_Nes http://www.archive.org/details/TASVideos_SNES http://www.archive.org/details/TASVideos_GENESIS http://www.archive.org/details/TASVideos_GameBoy http://www.archive.org/details/TASVideos_GBA http://www.archive.org/details/TASVideos_N64 http://www.archive.org/details/TASVideos_SMS I'm hoping to get a) Making sure all of these existing mirrors linked to their movie pages b) Uploading new publications not represented in this list. Any volunteers?

Yes, you used a savestate, and you started from that savestate hence you "started from savestate". Not only will something like this be rejected. NO ONE WILL BE ABLE TO WATCH YOUR MOVIE unless you provide the savestate. You also cant' upload the savestate to microstorage.
