I concur.
In the same vein, I think I filtering tool like the one on the Submissions page would be handy.
This is in the works. It is far from trivial, but it will be rolled out soonish I think.

why was REMOVING useful information about the author a good idea? You just removed every homepage! I do like Truncated's suggestion, but maybe that should be in place before removing the old way.

Essentially it is, or at least I tried to make it so with the wording of the Vault description. The point of the vault is for movies that are well made but for a very niche (if any) audience. The requirement is that they are at least well made, and to some extent game choice matters as the game has to lend itself to at least allowing it to be well made.

My concern is precisely the opposite. I worry that we will see fewer speed/entertainment tradeoffs. If someone were to make a movie with no trade-offs, it will be published to the Vault for sure. Whereas if they do speed/entertainment trade-offs, that is riskier since it would be judged on its entertainment value as well as technical and they risk rejection and/or obsoletion. Specifically in the case of doing a less glitched run in order to do a more entertaining longer run, I don't really see that as a problem. The latter is in more demand, which benefits the community more. But still, I see this system encouraging assisted speedrun records not discouraging them.

Good on technical value (seems optimized and has the opportunity for creative optimization), but not enough entertainment value for a full yes. I'll vote a strong meh :)

The votes show 80% of people found this movie entertaining. I think this shaping up to be the first Moon tier Atari publication. However, is this accurate? I know this was submitted before, or right after the tier business. So maybe a lot of these votes didn't have this tier consideration (or a misunderstood version of it).

I think that the problem with the AVGN icon is that it looks like blatant cross-promotional advertising for AVGN. The worst part is that it isn't; you're just advertising AVGN for free.
I did not think it would be interpreted this way but it does seem to be coming off that way. It is not my intent to make it so official, or do endorse him that way, just a fun list. So I removed the icon, hide the flag from listings, and moved the page to my personal homepage from which I will maintain it, for my own personal pleasure.

So if I remove the icon but leave the flag (so that Movies-AVGN still works) will people still need a Taxi? I'm sorry this single icon has caused so much anger.

Ok, now that game choice isn't the issue. Anybody got an opinion on its technical quality?

I didn't watch this before the original verdict, but I must say, I did enjoy this TAS. I wouldn't call it an autoscroller at all, it is more like non-stop boss fights. Looked like it took a good amount of work and strategy. Late yes vote.

Is a pirate game ok? The Vault description I wrote says no hacks, but unlicensed are eligible. Though what I really meant is that unlicensed games MIGHT be eligible. I can't find much information about this game. Should it really be considered a hack? Seems like a badly done game either way.

What would take even less time is to just show the freeze glitch. What I'm getting at is that the value of this run is in the glitch, which is easily demonstrated as a glitch video on youtube. There's no value in the sequence of input that gets there. I don't see the point of this as a TAS. Maybe the glitch should be done in a video and linked on the Game Resources page

While I see some value in demonstrating a screen freeze glitch, what value is there in getting to this point as fast as possible?

I've got an idea for a flag, Atlas map encodes that AndyDick does: http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9731 We could flag all the movies he's done, and of course link the video on the movie description.

We recently rolled out a dynamic "Flag" system for the site. The power behind this system is that it is now easy to set flags such that an icon (optional) will show on movies, and they can be listed by this flag. For example: http://tasvideos.org/Movies-Verified.html users can now see a listing of movies with a particular flag, or in combination with other filters: http://tasvideos.org/Movies-Moons-NES-Verified.html In addition, editors (and users with homepages) can use the wiki module to place custom lists on pages: [module:displaymovie|flags=Verified|noflags|obs] For more information on how to build urls and what can be done in the displaymovie moduel, see the Movie Tokens page Eventually we will build a "Token Builder" page, where uses can select from all these options and click a button to be taken to a movie list based on their criteria (this would also include Game names). The point of this post however, is to emphasize that it is very easy to add flags, just need a criteria and an icon, from there staff users can add the flags to the necessary movies. So what kind of flags would you guys like to see?

I removed the icon, sorry for trying to add some fun ideas to the site. The point is that we now have a way to add different types of filters easily so one can group movies in a variety of ways. Why would I choose AVGN? Because he's very popular among our group and more than one person has brought up the idea. Oh, and he's actually very educational about the consoles and games we TAS. But like I said, I thought it was fun, I should have known better. The filter will still exist, so AVGN will still work, but you won't see the icon displayed any where. If that is unsufficient for complaints let me know. (Note: The icon may still appear for you due to various cache situations for awhile)

There's a lot of frame precision here, it would be very unlikely to be recreated by a human. However, the game is short, so I bet a human could get fairly close to this time?

Game choice is a valid reason to vote no to "Did you enjoy watching this movie?", and it is a very valuable thing to say. As it will aid in determining Vault or not.

I really like the gold, silver, bronze suggestion (Kind of wish that had come up before the change). So how about this: Gold medal = old star criteria Silver medal = old moons if they were used with consistency Bronze medal = current moons Vault = current vault (And this system doesn't mean that we couldn't add in a demos type tier at some point.)
